    No wonder people love his work so much. He loves the very material with which he creates his instruments. So compelling to witness.

      I’m so interested! Would you mind, revealing a ballpark figure on how much you paid for one or each of them? I’m so curious… I know it’s not the point of the instrument, but I would just love to know.

    Beautiful. Mrs Kelly's commentary is especially thoughtful and true.

    Rick is an icon, but he's more than that. His connection to his craft is special. His connection to life is inspiring.

    Love this film! I am the proud owner of one of Rick's Bowery Pine Teles, and it is a very special instrument, made by a very special artist!

    Beautiful. When a person expresses emotions this way it just melts my heart. What a great passion and how innocently self reflection on perfection, almost suggesting coincidence. No, passion, honesty and diligence I reckon. Mr Kelly, I am in awe and I wish that I one day will get to play one of your guitars, although not worthy. Bless you.

    Love this fella and all his work, such a great artist. I’ve been to his store last year, those guitars seemed to be alive. Such a shame I couldnt afford one.

    Every bit of Rick's emotion blends into the emotion the wood already possesses. And what a cocktail! I'm going with friends down to his shop on Friday, and I CAN'T wait. I only worry I'm gonna go nuts! And people that go nuts have to pay. :/

    You can't overpraise Rick Kelly's Gift. My son, Singh Birdsong, once Jimi Hendrix and Rick were written about in the Wall Street Journal, July 2012. Singh gathered the wood from our 100 year old tenement and Rick made two guitars for Singh out of it!!

    @RickKelley I heard an NPR story about Carmine Street Guitars on my commute home tonight and was so intrigued, that I had to see some videos of your work and hear the amazing sound coming out of your guitars again. Amazing work. LOVED this. Hopefully we see more of you on TV and TH-cam!

    I always imagined that if cured/aged properly, the crêpe myrtle wood would be absolutely amazing as a guitar or a violin. Why is this relevant? Indeed that is the question.

    kind of a pity,never got into the Fender bolt on style necks...always had old Gibson's and really enjoyed that organic sound and feel of morticed joints

    Rick is only in business as his Italian-American landlord doesn't bleed him for the rent $$$. That's why his handmade guitars are so relatively inexpensive.

    i like what he does and all but it just gets blown out of proportion

    • @elbob248

      +Justus Bacon Describe, in precise detail, how this is blown out of proportion.

    • @rosannatorres9933
      @rosannatorres9933 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      His guitars are Fender copies, nothing orginal, e.g. blown out of proportion.

      You must have the attention span of steamed rice.

    • @rosannatorres9933
      @rosannatorres9933 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If that was directed towards me, you missed the point. He clearly stated he makes fender copies, uses old wood, copies nonetheless. It's not original, again blown out of proprtion.
