The song, they told us not mess up their tempo, but they themselves is messing with the tempo. But the tempo actually did not change.Technically, it change at the bridge when they started the capella. But you know what I mean.
And the vocals, yes. We never had this kind of song in kpop, ever. Not even the capella part. They literally, 'screw background music, we will show you how its done'

EXO's main style is r&b because they have some of the best vocalists in the kpop industry and are always praised on this aspect! They are an extremely well known and popular group especially across all of Asia! A cool fact is that Teddy Riley (from blackstreet) has worked with EXO and produced/made songs for them!! They are truly amazing artists that are extremely versatile and i hope you continue to react to more from them because you won't be disappointed!

EXO is a South Korean-Chinese Kpop group with 9 members, initially had 12 members separated as two subgroups EXO-K & EXO-M. They formed in 2011 debuting on April 8, 2012 under SM Entertainment. Their music is a unique combination of music genres performed in Korean, Mandarin, and Japanese. In 2014 last time EXO was separated as subgroups to release music, they’ve been active as one group since then performing in multiple languages. EXO remained with 9 members after the departures of Kris(main rapper), Tao, & LuHan after legal issues arose between them & S.M company during 2014 and 2015. In 2016 three of the nine members have a sub unit EXO-CBX while still being part of EXO, which incorporates their stage name initials for Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin. All of the members have their own solo career projects in music, tv and film.
*LAY had gone back to China to start his solo projects since he’s the second oldest of EXO, he was absent for a long awhile but never left the group permanently. Now Zhang Yixing (LAY) has returned with his first solo album released two MVs “Give Me A Chance”(English) which was on his bday and 2 wks later dropped “Namanana”, also has reunited with EXO finally making it OT9 again and he’s currently doing his US Debut Tour.*

First subgroup EXO-K, leader Suho became the 1st member(trainee) of SM Entertainment in 2006; the following year 2nd member Kai by his father’s encouragement auditioned and got accepted; same time Chanyeol won 2nd place in Smart Model Contest and Sehun had to go through four auditions for 2 years before getting accepted. The subgroup’s last two members(trainees) to go into EXO-K during 2010/2011 were D.O and Baekhyun. Every XO-M subgroup leader Kris went through Canada’s Global Auditioning around the same time Lay went for an audition at Changsha; both subsequently moved to South Korea, while Xiumin goes with a friend to audition winning 2nd place he became the next member(not including the friend) to join EXO-M in 2008. Within two years LuHan and Tao were scouted into SM by one of the company representatives in Myeong-dong and during a talent show, the last member to join the subgroup EXO-M was Chen in 2011.
December 2011 they’d finalized their group name to EXO; which is short for “EXOplanet”. Their first tv performance was at SBS’s Annual Gayo Daejun Event on Dec 29th. They’ve won many awards and nominations for their variety of creative music genres, appearance, and solo projects.

Aight, so...you asked, "out of all we been gettin', have you been disappointed?--what is it?"
Listen, lemme explain what it is...cuz I've actually had this same question bouncing around in my head for a while, & I think I've figured it out...
Ok, so all these K-groups are managed by different entertainment companies, basically the same way artists are managed in the U.S., but there's one big difference...in the United States, management companies go out and "scout" for talent. They hit up open mic nights, talent shows, clubs, bars, etc etc...to try and find talented individuals to sign to their label, produce their music, and market their music and image to the listening public. But in South Korea, they don't "scout" for talent, they MAKE talent. It's like boot camp for pop stars. They train these kids from a young age, hiring the most talented dance teachers, vocal coaches, and music producers/engineers, and spend years training each individual trainee, until they can meet certain guidelines that would qualify them to 'debut' onto their music scene. They also train them on how to behave in front of the camera for when they go on television variety shows, etiquette & manners, & often put them through classes to learn multiple languages, so that they can communicate in nearby foreign countries(like China, Japan, & Thailand) where they do a lot of touring and promotions...recently, since K-Pop has been blowing up in the States, these entertainment companies have been encouraging their trainees and artists to learn English, which is incredibly difficult for them, because the sentence structures of the two languages are basically backwards from one another(i.e. in English you'd say "I went to the store to buy some fruit," but in Korean it's more like, "to buy some fruit, I went to the store.") All that to say, the reason these guys don't miss, is because they have been molded over hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of rigorous training, putting their blood sweat and tears into the art form, in order to become the very best musicians and performers they can be... it's quite inspiring, if you ask me... :)
So there’s 9 members in EXO, they debuted in 2012. EXO are popular for their live performance their vocals game is just too strong, they are huge in Korea and popular worldwide with a strong, loyal and huge fanbase from all around the world even their company dont send them to US market, they always deny interviews like billboard and others when they want to interview and promoting EXO in US, US is not the market of EXO. SM focuses EXO on Asia but even though SM didn't let EXO go on US, EXO's impact is still amazing and huge ( their concerts ticket hold the record for fastest concerts ticket sold out in 0.4 seconds (all the first 4 spot of records) and they were also performed at the winter olympics closing ceremony). They released 5 albums and it all sold >1mil each ( >10mil in total up until now and still counting bc they just released their 5th album this november 2nd) they are now the first and only one up until now in Korea to sold 10 million albums and also the first one to sell 1mil copies of album in 12 years of Korean music industry with their first album XOXO back in 2013). And about their concept, their concepts are pretty much thing going on that’s all started in 1967,1976 i dont remember clearly the year but that’s how EXO were born 😂 they always stick with this concept story line from their debut back in 2012 but with each new album release, EXO get more progressive and experimental with their music (same concept but not the same because they never repeat their style and concept). They’re so ahead of the game in terms of music quality & diversity. I swear, EXO have almost done every single music genre within reason.. there’s just so many thing to talk abt but that’s some info for you guys in case you guys want to keep up with them.

Idk who wrote this... they DO have a black girl that has written for them in the past. They also have an old song that Teddy Riley produced that sounds like a STRAIGHT blackstreet song lol. I said all that to say...EXO is very involved with soul R&B music and they execute it well!!

Orangey i think it’s because they included their different styles in the song. For example in the beginning I think it’s Chen who sings that “who-hoo” which is MJ trade mark in his music and then all the parts where the more robotic voice came in is similar to Daft punk’s music and then at the end when they sing in harmony or in acapella refers to the old boy bands in the 90’s since they used to do it in many songs
@@orangey5707 Boyz to Men were THE blueprint for male harmonizing groups. The entire acapella part of Tempo is a direct lift from the Boyz to Men playbook. They singlehandedly brought back the doo-wop acapella sound and modernized it and everyone followed their lead. Michael Jackson and Boyz to Men basically were the adopted godfathers of modern K-pop for male groups. More to the point, "Tempo" is a 90s tribute song all the way.

What I love about kpop videos is the mash-up of different genres, awesome choreo, and stunning visuals. This is probably my favorite reaction of yours...loved how blown away you were by the way the song kept changing up. If you wanna check out another mind blowing video with a ton of musical change ups I urge you guys to check out Girls' Generation "I Got A Boy"! They're legendary and in the same company as EXO. There's a Netflix series called "Explained" and there was an episode devoted to kpop...they even featured "I Got A Boy" and broke down the different genre change ups throughout.
Other EXO songs I recommend....I know everyone's gonna say "Monster" so I'm recommending "Overdose" and "Call Me Baby".

Yes! React to Monster. Monster was my intro to Kpop. I didn't realize there was life beyond Korean OSTs. I was blown away by the choreography, production, vocals, visuals, music composition. Lotto followed it. (also a great mv to watch) Every song is a surprising ride. Gliding through multiple genres in a single song. It is never disconnected. Darn it if EXO didn't ruin kpop for me. There are only a handful of songs outside of EXO I enjoy. From start to end they are amazing!! If you love Tempo, Monster may just make you a die hard fan. Ambitious Ace, most Kpop groups are amazing because honestly US artists have gotten lazy. Not saying US artists aren’t talented, but the total product (music, lyrics, mv’s, concerts, dances, etc) of US artists are sub par to the perfectionism and plain hard work of the Kpop culture. Just saying. Hoping it’s a wake up call for US artists. Exo vocals are no joke.
Idk Nan Molla 1 I hate to say it but its true. Only a few artists come to mind when it comes to giving the total package. It definitely should wake some up for sure. In the future I predict that all of a sudden...US artists are going to tap in to the Korean wave. I just hope its for genuine reasons and not for clout. We can really learn a thing or two from the Korean scene.

Especially if Kpop continues making headway in the states with artists like BTS, US artists will need to step up because it raises expectations. I can only think of a few US artists that bridge genres so effortlessly. Ed Sheeran is my favorite.

I love kpop from many groups but this song stands out from the rest of kpop. I loved Shai and Boys to Men back in the day so the acapella part and harmonies are awesome to me.

Yup they paid homage to mj, daft punk and boyzIImen. Exo fucking did that. I was not disappointed at all.. And what's great was the rap line started off the 1st 2 verses alone and they rarely get lines and exo ended off the Mv. With the vocals their strength (vocal kings, best vocals. In kpop) and that acapella at the end, done I was done.. Best ever.. I don't kno if u guys ever done any exo before but definitely check more of their stuff out. Exo call me baby is a good one if u haven't checked it out yet.
