Vararam uses normal use the fog light holes for intake. It looks like he smoothed over where the fog lights normally go. The center plate mod is usually to run a plate oil cooler. It would be unusual to just vent it into the engine bay as it just would contribute to the high pressure under the hood problem that c5' s suffer from on the track. I can't really see what is behind the mesh however. The 'top secret' venting is to reduce pressure buildup. Some guys just cut off the lower portion of the rear bumper, but the lights are convenient and reversible. Maybe I'll catch you down at RA one of these days.
I always find it funny when folks say downforce is uesless below 80. Stick a boogie board out the window at 30 and tell me how useless the force is! Anyways, good share. Love it when people talk over a car. Man has some serious brakes on that puppy!
Downforce is an interesting topic. Increases the wind resistance of the car - which is bad - but if it is needed to keep the car planted - that is good. Tuning of downforce is an interesting subject for sure!!!
The venting in the rear has to do with having the windows down causes air to get caught in the back of the trunk and really causes a lot of lift. So i would guess he's venting that out there.
The back bumper isn't connected to the trunk to vent. Its for the air getting scooped up by the lower edge of the rear bumper. There is a vent in the trunk on the drivers side that is used to equalize pressures when someone shuts a door, etc. All car have those however. Occasionally you'll see a C5 with vents in the rear for transmission and diff coolers, but those don't normally use interior air, they'll run a naca duct and some tube to the coolers in the rear.
I wonder what he meant with the 6000 RPM comment? Bc if you're shifting at 6K with that engine you're leaving a good bit on the table and it's not substantially safer than, say, 6500-6800 RPM. But maybe he meant that he ends up at ~6K in 4th gear at the end of the longest straight?
Probably that he chose a cam for mid-range power. Its really more important than top end for typical track work. I'm guessing he aimed for 6k in 5th at RA. That's probably close to where he would be.
About time you got to a track that doesn't just go straight. 😮😅😅 Thanks for the setup tips.
I always suspected C5 take corners well (:-)
Thank you for the information. It is really special to get advice from Dan Binks!
Another awesome video!😎👍

Awesome video
I appreciate that!
Would be nice to know more about the drivetrain of his car and cooling systems for such.
Several key drive train specs are listed in video.

I think you're right 👍

I want those wheels

I'll find out!
He can daily drive that thing
Bro put forza aero on it
No mention of the suspension? Bummer. Great info otherwise. Keep this content coming!
1:01 touches on suspension. Thanks! Toys
