I really enjoyed your video , I’ve owned my c5 for 7yrs & I’ve been thinking about supercharging it . It is a convertible 2000 manual with a little over 70000 miles . I’ve upgraded just about everything but the engine performance. It seems like your totally happy with your supercharger upgrade . I will start looking for a good corvette shop that it is known for doing a great job.👍

Went with the A&A YSi kit on my C5 about 4 years ago. I have the smallest pulley though so we had to do a lot of fueling upgrades. Makes 4 digits pretty easily.

I bought my C5 2003 Anny seven years ago. I have the AA Vortech, Stainless Works headers, Meth Injection, X pipe, high flow cats and Corsa Sports cat back. Rear wheel HP 542 at 523 lbs torque. I've had the AA supercharger for five years with NO problems. The car is street friendly and runs like a charm. I drive it safely and sanely and have an excellent mechanic who did all the high performance up grades and keeps my Vette in perfect tune. Great videos T4L.

A&A is hands down better. I've almost replaced every part of my ECS Novi 1500 kit. I've ordered parts from both and had trouble shooting calls with both companies. I LOVE Andy and Josh at A&A!

I'm seriously considering having one of these kits installed on my 1998 but I know oi will have to do the 411 ECM computer update first I've already priced heads an cam intake route so the money is about the same. I've had the car for about 3 years it's a low mileage car auto transmission and I've purchased new gears (3:42) and a 2800/3000 tc the video sure has made me think.thanks again.

@@Toys4Life Yes my dear, I am sixty and already an American muscle car fan since my 3 YO. Of course started with my father (RIP) and came till today. I sold my 1998 T/A Firebird at 2006 which was my last one and did not buy a new American again. As I believe real muscle car era was till 1980s. Anyhow, American cars are always lots of things to me and thinking to buy a C5 ZO6 or a C6 GS but not decided yet. Good video. I'm a long time C4 ('96) owner, and love it, but who knows, if a right deal comes along, getting a C5 or C6 project car to keep my C4 company would be a good way to get an LS to play with, and it would be a fun project to super charge .

I 2003 c5 convertible is a beast. Running a pro charger at 7lbs boost. Definitely worth the money. Normal driving still gets great fuel economy and ice cold a/c. Pretty fun losing traction at 50 to 60 mph😁

You do really great videos. Thank you. How hard do you think they are on a C5 motor? Also, could you drive it a couple days a week to work, which is 45 minutes away on the freeway?
Thank you!! Keep it at around 525 RWHP with a safe tune and good fuel or meth and I think it is pretty safe. You can easily daily drive it. when it is not under boost (WOT) it act like stock. MPG is down maybe 1/4 mpg to spin the blower with minimal load.
I daily drive my c5 with the A&A kit. I also put on 600 miles a week. Mine has been on since 2013.
Booked my twin disc install for June then I got to break it in. Supercharger install in the fall. ya Whoo. Can't wait.

Just did the AA kit on my C6 and would highly recommend it. Not sure any shop would charge just $1000 bucks.m for install. Not in my area. More like 4K.

Did you buy yours from A&A? The best way is to send your tune to them so they can tweak your car's original tune. Mine's from an '03, M6, Minnesota car. Makes sense?
Love your videos. I recently looked into putting an AA supercharger in my 2004 C5 but the folks at the speed shop discouraged me because the car has 96k miles. Your thoughts?
I put one online with around 75 or 80k. Probably need a new clutch or get your tranny rebuilt to handle the extra power and since yours is probably fairly tired.
You should post a video about creative ways to come up with the scratch to buy and install a supercharger.
I saved a little each month for several years and avoided doing things like Cold air intake, cam, heads, headers and multiple tunes. More of a one and done approach. I did the heads cams etc through the years when I was younger but they never really seemed to 100% satisfy me.
Another great video from T4LC5. SC installation charges with tune seem to vary from about $1,500 to $2,800 depending on the shop.
When folks are budgeting for their FI build I would definitely advise on doing the clutch if they don't have one that holds big power. I also advise on budgeting in the cost of dual valve springs, a new balancer (pinned), as well as drag radials for the rear set.
The cost starts to add up quick, if you plan on having usable and reliable power. To really "do it right and reliablly" you'd start with forged internals.
Even if you plan to DIY the SC install the cost can climb pretty easily. Just budget accordingly.
Good stuff. Couple of things. The A&A kit does come with a balancer pinning kit. Also, if you start getting into drag radials and really serious launches, you probably going to need some stronger differential components and a brace to prevent the differential from tearing away from the transmission. Once you get the modification bug, I'm not really sure where it ends. Maybe someday we will find out... Thanks for commenting!
@@Toys4Life right! it doesn’t end. It just seems to go on pause for a while when you move on to something else to play with in the garage. With the ECS kit the balancer is an additional cost. Drag radials aren’t so much for hard launches as they for keeping the back of the car where it belongs, behind you. If you are running a street tire and have over 600hp
to the wheels a street tire is worthless over 4K rpms in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in some cases.
A diff brace is definitely worth the added insurance. Also updating the couplers in the torque tube. If you have a 1 rib rear diff a 3 rib is the better route. The MN6 trans will handle a lot of abuse/ power.
Thank you for the video, did you do any research into the procharger system, is so why did you choose not to go with procharger?
For some reason, with C5 Corvettes A&A and ECS have the majority of the business and kits tailored towards the C5. I did not research the pro-charger but all I heard for a couple of years while researching was how great A&A was and that's why with them. ECS has a good reputation as well. My experience with A&A has been top-notch!

It can be done, not sure how much time and $$ - that will depend greatly on who you find to do the work.

You need to remove the main belt - but not the supercharger.

You had mentioned valve springs in your previous videos and also a twin disc clutch. Your videos have completely convinced me to pull the trigger. Question is I just replaced my clutch with a new stock replacement and had the flywheel ground and would hate to do that job again. Do you think it will hold up?
I had my 75k mile stocker on there for a few thousand miles after the supercharger install. It held - but I did not abuse it either. The part that failed is many/most stock LS1 clutches dont like to rev past 6000 RPM without starting to stick to the floor between shifts. For street use it was ok, but at the track the clutch would feel funky and stick to the floor between second and third.. Sorry - I cannot say for sure what yours will do.. You could go with the larger 3.8" pulley and stay around 480 or so RWHP and not beat the tar out of it and it should hold up pretty good - also shift around 5900..

I gotta ask, my C5 vert has a 4 speed automatic--anything special about putting a supercharger on it? Its an 02 but it only has 29k miles on it, had only one owner before me, and was babied its whole life. I just want the SC for sh*ts and giggles and will never track or street race it most likey. What do you think?

Did you up grade the valve springs ?
Yes, good point. I went with ls6 springs cause I now shift at 6500 rpms. Not needed if you shift at stock rpm's - unless yours have a ton of miles and you notice float.
so did you cut down the top of your stock radiator to clear the intake?
Yes. It is detailed and there are photographs in my supercharger install video series.
Do you have the Gap your piston rings for this add-on
Ideally - yes. Most get away without it for short bursts... 1/4 mile etc as long as you are at or below 625 crank HP
what supporting mods would I need after installing the kit? I know the clutch would need to be changed but what else to hold that power ?
I drove with the stock clutch for a year - held fine - I just didn't try any shifts where I gave it a ton of power before the clutch was fully released when shifting. My (and many) stock pressure plates don't like shifting at 6400 RPM though and the clutch pedal started sticking to the floor at the track going into 3rd. That's when I changed it. Only other mod I did for reliability it upgraded to LS6 valve springs.

What tires have you used with it on and what were the experiences?
Firestone Indy 500 tires work decent. It dyno'd at 585 RWHP so it is more difficult to put to the road than the stock 305 RWHP level. The power comes on very strong above 4000 RPMs so I usually shift early into 2nd on the street. I will be checking the forums as well when the time comes for new tires to see if there is something a little stickier..
How many miles did your corvette have prior to installing the supercharger, and how many does it have now?
75k, 90k is pretty close.
Should I upgrade the torque converter in a aoutmatic
The torque converter is going to depend on how you drive the car and what you do with it. If the transmission has a lot of miles on it you might want to freshen it up and have a few of the weaker items replaced.
I also forgot to tell you it's a special edition 427 zo6 but didn't think it would matter
I have a c6 z06 fully built. Just got it back from RPM last week. Put down 614 hp and 530 tq.
I thought about going with supercharger but with ls7 it risks reliablity.

@@Toys4Life Rpm stage 5 supercharger kit which I basically have everything except the supercharger puts out around 900hp on c6 z06. I actually asked them about it but said I want reliablity since I will daily drive it. They said stay NA.
900hp sounds nice but in all honesty it’s got more power than you can really put down on many roads. 2nd gear you can break the tires loose at 80 when can really comes on 5-7k rpm’s.
I do think if I had a c5 I would definitely go with supercharger. The blocks are better for boost as opposed to ls7
I bought my 2001 zo6 with the TI supercharger n meth injection 661 rwhp ,now if I put better heads n intake on it that make more power or is she tapped out n also has a cam in her too, 10.01 140 mph et. I cant push it in the 9s. What about a gear maybe 410?. I got headers n exhaust on her too
Anything that allows it to take in more air will add to the HP tally. You are getting into the area where you had better have some TT and diff upgrades too! Sounds fun!

What kind of cam would you run with this kit
Stock cameras giving me 585 horsepower, I don't need anymore for the street. Truth be told I'm not sure how much more the bottom end could handle and I don't want to find out at this time.

Depends on what your intended use is and if you are okay with giving up low end. I have a stock cam and it's got plenty of power up top and down low. Also depends on if you want to give up some bottom end for that chop chop sound.
How does this compare to ECS novi kit?
I can't say for certain I have not had the ecs system.
I would love to know, whats the max amount of miles on a c5 you would still put a SC on? And what else would you do to get the corvette prepared for a sc if it has high miles?
There's no hard rule. If it's in good operating condition, good compression and good oil pressure, I would probably do it up to 120,000 mi. I think I did mine at lake 70,000 or so.

Stock LS1 cam brand new LS6 valve springs.

@@Sclassmercedes because my engine's and LS1 and I didn't see the need to change the camshaft for my power objectives which are about $615 horsepower at the crank. The springs needed to be stiffer though that's why I changed LS6 springs as that has a higher factory Red line. Back in 2000, LS6 springs were defective, trust me, they've all been repaired or broke by now and the design has been corrected. If I was going to go through the work of changing to a different cam it would be one more optimized for a supercharger not the LS6 cam.
What about a pro charger? My tech at gen v motors in auburn says pro charger is the best way to go. I’m in CA so I need carb legal

525 to 550. Enough to trap 130 in the quarter.

It certainly doesn't increase it by what you spend on the supercharger kit, unless it's a fresh build and you can document a shop like an a did the install then you might have a chance. If you're not going to keep the car and enjoy the heck out of it for at least 5 years, I wouldn't do it.
@@Toys4Life it's a monster right now by my standards but I have friends buying cars like that new demon that's just came out and the first thing they seem to want to do is run my zo6 which the horsepower in that car is like 800 vs my 505 but that car weighs more than my zo6

@@Toys4Life idk they were just the first company to offer a intercooler with a supercharger. Honestly I'd take either one. I don't have the vette anymore but it sure liked the procharger. I'm thinking of buying another vette so I'll be doing research on them both.
I've always liked roots blowers for the torque they produce, but as I've looked into it for the C5 a centri does seeem to make a lot of sense.

If you are a straight line kind of guy then SC mods are great but if you want a well handling Vette then stay with NA upgrades as adding all that weight over the right front is terrible or handling. The center mount oem type of SC is a much better for an overall balanced car. Been down both roads with 4 different C5's so I'm not talking out my ass. Have fun.
You know that the Z06 has about the same balance as a base with a supercharger right? It's because the Z06's titanium exhaust (located behind the rear tires) takes that weight off the rear end, where you actually need the traction. So a non z06 six car with a supercharger is pretty darn close to the same balance the same as the ZO6.

IMO - Turbos are awesome if they are well engineered & built properly sized and shielded. That having been said, for a daily driver C5, I prefer a supercharger. Also, very curious because of your name spelling - what country are your from? Cheers!

On November 23, 2022 I bought a 2004, C-5 Corvette Z06 23,000 miles six speed black with red leather Targa top for $25000 off a gentleman that lives at the start of my court where I live but before he sold it to me, he changed out every single fluid, including brakes and all and put on brand new brakes, front and rear and 4 brand new Michelin SuperSport Cup2 tires this car was bought brand you buy him. He serviced it regularly where he bought it at the Chevy dealer had all the service records clean Carfax no accidents garage kept the body is a 10 out of 10 the interior is a 10 out of 10 I cannot find any scratches dings nothing on the body nothing on the inside it’s a flawless car. The only reason he gave it to me because he knew I was a Corvette enthusiast.

That 1993 Chevy 454SS and 1996 Corvette Grand Sport mean a lot to me my brother passed away in Vancouver BC Canada in October 1999 I inherited both of those trucks from him. He put them in his will for me if anything happened to him I will get them

He chose the wrong path in life and was selling drugs at a pretty large scale with his friends and some of my other cousins now there’s only two left they’re both in jail for a long time, and the rest of them are all dead. I learned a very big lesson from that to stay away from drugs, selling them. I stick to my beers on occasion only I don’t believe in the drunk life or a super high drug life either both are destructive paths and driving and working on cars and driving for a living. You can’t do any of that bullshit to have a career or have fun with your motor sport or your hobbies. Gotta maintain that Driver License to play around and be safe while doing it
That’s why I want to get my son involved in on these builds the whole car stereo system set up that’s going into that Black 2004 Z06 he picked out all that equipment I don’t mind spending $8000 plus dollars to keep away from all that bullshit on the streets and right now it’s scary especially with all that fentanyl bullshit running around. A lot of people are dying on a weekly basis, brother we need to keep the kids strong in car racing, tuning audio and Knowledge about cars and sports

I told them when this C5 Z06 is done it’s gonna have Max 950 hp with a huge car audio system that he can keep this car. As long as he keeps his grades up, goes to school works part time does his house chores and volunteers at the Salvation Army on a weekly basis he can have this car it will be his, but if not, then I’m gonna keep it for myself. I told him I’m buying a C6 Z06 for myself and I’m just gonna do a TwinTurbo or supercharger on it with just a upgraded head unit and for regular speakers nothing too crazy with bass and subs

Yes, uncle is going to hook up this thing to the ECM on the car. Every time he kicked the shit out of it and does burnouts or something stupid with it. I get alerts on my phone the company that gives you the hardware also has a app that gives you alerts and also I’m going to get my mechanic to fine-tune it so he can only put on the super charger when needed to with my permission. It cannot be on all the time there is a way to send it. Somebody told me that I don’t know if that’s true but either way I got them by the balls with the hardware and app or setting it so that supercharger don’t kick in.

It has rescue doors built in for easy access out, so you don’t damage the sides of the door both floors on the side walls have 3 feet of carpet going from bottom up to protect the doors but we always open up the rescue door hatch to get out so the doors don’t get dinged up on the side of the trailers
There are 6 rescue doors and 6 pop outs that go out about 4 feet, so we can open the door and get in and out of the car without damaging the body at all
That trailer has air-conditioning in floor hidden 10,000 pound winch 30 gallon diesel tank for a generator 30 gallon air compressor tank two toolboxes and about 16 cabinets different sizes from wardrobe closet cabinets two 2 x 2 cabinets to 3 x 4 cabinets and some art 2 x 4 long rectangle cabinets lots of storage the trailer has air lines that run under the frame that have airline connectors one in the front one in the rear two on the driver side two on the passenger side and 812 V electric outlets around the trailer with USB connector to charge cells or whatever also has a 30 foot awning and 2 - 75 inch screen TVs on the side the company that built the trailer put those in for free they didn’t tell me and it’s for advertising purposes every time I go to a show they want me to put those TVs on put the USB stick on each side of the TV and have them advertising what they build what they make and produce and where to get it just over the summer just by going to six shows they ended up having five trailer sales. they never got any 53 foot sales but they Sold 3 stacker Trailers 32 feet and 1 Custom motorcycle trailer 20 ft and then they build one custom 16 ft trailer that they set up 2 industrial pressure washers with water, recovery tank, fresh water tank detergent tanks they turned it into a California state compliance, environmental pressure washer the kid that ordered it is only 21 got it in two months, literally right now even with Covid is making $6000 to $8000 a month
