It was an easy choice for me. $50 vs $90, pocketable vs a bit awkward, same effective screen size on most platforms, and virtually the same game compatibility and user experience (after upgrading the OS), so I went with the cheaper one.
complete opposite for me. :D Easy choice because the RGB30 was on sale for $60 so only $10 more than the RG35XX-H, pocketable and more ergonomic for adult size hands vs awkward narrow size, much bigger screen (and sharper resolution) for the most used systems these handhelds play (Pico-8, GB/GBC/NGP/GG/PCE, even NES and SNES because they have a internal aspect ration of 8/7 and many games, especially from nintendo, look better in 8/7 than 4/3 because they were stretched) and exactly the same size screen for other 4/3 content, bigger battery, so it made sense to go with the RGB30.
@@danthaman03 It has wifi and syncthing, so bidirectional automatic sync with other devices. To add files, just put them in a sync folder and wait a few seconds.
Ive got both. I prefer the RGB30 due to the more high quality and specialized screen. The only thing I like more on the H is the dpad. I upgraded the dpad on the RGB30 recently and now i prefer everything about it above the H, however, you shouldn't have to modify a device for it to work correctly. They're BOTH great devices and i would recommend either. Great review! You've really got a nack for this!
The rg35xx-H and plus are going dirt cheap right now, while not perfect they really hit a good spot, the screen is perfect for 4:3 ratios and its tiny great fit on pocket, power is enough up to some dreamcast but would not use it for psp it just doesnt look good on that screen and also lacks power to run most games with current price sale offer is really hard not to recommend also custom firmware is getting there batocera has done some amazing leaps towards a stable build.
how did the Pokémon ds games run? if you tried them at all i ordered mine about 4 days ago it comes in soon and i really only got it to emulate the Pokémon games,
@@ZyneNull not sure, haven't tried Nintendo DS, but seen videos that it can run it, if pokemon games work no clue can't help you there, only use it for arcade , SNES etc, some Dreamcast is as far as I use it, PSP looks weird on the screen so dont use it also N64 controls are always a pain so I don't use it either.

Thx for the comparison of these devices. I already have the rgb30 but saw how cheap the rg33xx h was on Ali and was tempted to own one. So similar in form but now that I’ve seen the actual size/height of the rg33xx h is, I’m definitely gonna struggle with my hands for those buttons. Nice one.
Hey mate, i googled a bit but can't find anything about AmberElec on RGB30. Do you mind throwing a link to me (or even just an hint on where i should look info about this release)?
@@LordAzuren eek that’s because I updated my old *rg351v*, not my rgb30… but then I’ve been playing my rgb30, so I confused myself and everyone. ;) Sorry about that!
When i was a kid in 80/90s i used to think how cool it would be to play megadrive and snes and arcade games on a handheld, the only handhelds we had at that time were gameboy, game gear and lynx and while they were ok they there were 8 bit devices though i think the lynx was slightly more powerful but they were not capable of much and that really didn't change until the psp arrived ever since the psp we now have everything in the palm of our hands and enough power to run several generations of consoles that is amazing in it self i would love to go back to 1992 to my 11 year old self with one of these devices and say "i know what your thinking here try that its awsome lol😂"
Great Video...! Sad that JELOS is done. They are no longer going to make updates, the team that made JELOS is making new OS called ROCKNIX. I just started using JELOS about 2 weeks ago on my AYN Loki Max and I love it. I am looking for a smaller device like the RGB30, but it is disappointing that it only has 1GB of RAM, I wish it have 4GB.
I got the 35xx h because the powkiddy was 20 bucks more but it went on sale right after mine came for just 5 bucks more so I definitely regret going with the 35xx h
Bro, SNES originally had a 8:7 aspect ratio. Almost square. Maybe you can change that on the RGB30, probably on RetroArch configs, so SNES games will be almost on full screen :) I'd love to have a RGB30 really, but the price wasn't up my alley. Instead I got exactly the RG35XXH for $49, quite a steal, it's coming in around 2 weeks :)
the RGB30 was on sale for under $60 just a couple of days ago. And yes you can config SNES to 8:7 and many games look better that way because they are not stretched and you get a bigger picture which looks amazing compared to my Miyoo Mini Plus (same size screen as RG35XX-H). :)
I like your "hadoukens" and your "ALL YOU CAN!" (shoryuken) 🤣 I used to yell that out too back in the day. Love the channel, just liked and subscribed! I just received my PowKiddy rgb30 and I'm loving it so far. However I'm a little concerned as the unit I ordered off Amazon had a warning sticker on the sleeve "Please avoid updating the system to prevent potential usability issues?" Because of that I haven't bothered messing with any of the settings or connecting to WiFi in case it's been tampered with. I ordered off Amazon and it didn't come sealed in a box, but I assume it was because they preload it with 20k+ games on and put it in a nice portable case and even included a screen protector. Am I being too paranoid? I don't want to take any chances so I'm just enjoying the nostalgia of playing all my favorite games.
@@JoelsterG4kJust FYI, JelOS is dead, they EOL’d support for RGB30 and other devices. Some of the devs of the JelOS team have moved on and forked JelOS to Rocknix, it’s in beta. At this point, ArkOS is probably better suited for the RGB30.
You can update your existing JelOS by copying the Rocknix Update file to the root of your sd-card. After copying, rename the "Rocknix"-part of the Update-file to "JelOS" and boot up your device.

The square screen is excellent for vertical shooting games like 1943 or very old space invader games and some arcade. . You can scale the screen to 4x3 or 3x2 as well. I mentioned it above though, the build quality isn’t that good. You’ll definitely have some fun with it though
Hello! I am stuck with choosing device for gaming. I have a big palms and I cant use devices like Game Boy format. This one in your video looks like a good decision. Can you recommend any other stuff like this, please? Sorry for my bad English
I can answer this, the Rgb30 plays n64 quite well. I’d say 80% of the library play without any issues. The only thing I can say is this device isn’t the best build quality.
Nonsense? Really? Meanwhile, everybody else finds that this is a very sensible choice (for many older systems). If the aspect ratio puzzles you on a device geared for systems that had this or a close to it aspect ratio then I wonder what else puzzles you.
