This scene is the best encapsulation of this show's ability to straddle humour and drama...the one-liners (my personal faves are 'you have no lines in this play!' and 'you look pretty, dear...so pret-ty!') combined with the real talk Jordan gives Carla about her PPD is just sparkling

For real though. When you're pregnant you're on a cocktail of hormones and you adjust and adapt to it, then when you spit that baby out it all suddenly stops and you're in one of the most high stress times of your life, you're practically withdrawing from some of those 'feel good' hormones pregnancy gives you. Take THAT Tom Cruise! Lol I remember when he bashed Brooke Shields for taking medication for post partum depression after she had a baby. As if he would ever have to deal with crazy changing hormones after giving birth. He's so smug and absolutely convinced that he knows everything, but Scrubs put his butt back in a tiny little Cruise sized box.
I believe where he was coming from is more about therapy, rather than taking medication. Drugs is not a "fix", its a blanket for real underlying issues that need to be addressed and healed. Taking medication will not do anything but put a band aid over a wound. Not to mention that the drugs could have an affect on her breast milk, that in turn could affect the child's growth. Also, Scrubs didn't say anything about taking medication, they wanted Carla to get help: i.e Therapy.
NobodyC13 yes! They totally did that. 😂 I’ve lost count how many times I’ve rewatched the whole series, but I love all of the behind the scenes footage, too. They talked about doing things like that, lol.

Pure emotional gold. Scrubs did everything right, even when it was debatable.
