    This might be a bit late. But I want you to know that this podcast is enriching my life in a way that is hard to explain. Like Aristotle's teachings, this podcast will stand the test of time.

    Great work love this. Great stuff; we are what we repeatedly do via habits. Thank you.

    I just started listening to your podcast a day ago! I have taken greek philosophy back in University, but I wanted to start right from the beginning and never miss one episode! Your narration is so clear and engaging. Great content! and What a coincidence that just today I decided to throw my empty plastic water bottles in the bin instead of hoarding them in my car haha

    36:00 i love that idea of "we are what we repeatedly do". Its freeing to think you can shed or attain a label by doing or not doing something. How many times do we have to do or not do something to officially be or not be something in our minds or others. 1000 times? Maybe just once! Bad labels might negatively affect a person's behavior, good ones can do the opposite. Can we just DO without regard to labels? Yes. Sometimes.

    At the end he says he tries an exercise once a month that’s eye opening to the person you actually are... and then it cuts?? What was the exercise???

      (copied from the episode transcript from the website)
      ..If you knew you were going to die tonight, and you had to write your own obituary that would appear in the newspaper the next day. What would you write? What would your actions portray as your true values and how did you make the people around you feel?

  • @Over-Boy42
    @Over-Boy42 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think there is a golden mean with Philosophy. If you study philosophy too much, you won't be able to do much action because you'll keep overthinking things. But if you don't study it at all you won't be thinking at all and you will make very poor and repentative decisions. But study it the right amount, and you will make wise decisions.

    No clue what you were on about in the previous videos about being a "bad" podcast speaker, I've listened to the first 5 of your videos now and I can say that you are one of greatest if not the best speaker I have yet encountered on youtube that covers this topic!
    Highly interesting and I cannot wait for all the episodes I have yet to listen to!
    Ps. Is it just me, or is it starting to become very clear where allot of later religious ideas originate/inspired from?

    THAT IS SO FUNNY!!! I always tell people they need to get over Gordon's persona and LISTEN TO HOW HE COOKS EGGS! He does them just like me: the right way. Scramble the eggs in the pan! You wouldn't puree a steak, would you? Funny you mentioned that, I was just explaining to someone, again... (Also: excellent series, thank you

    This episode reminded me of this one quote from the jogging ape guy in Bojack Horseman.

    Ari is right. Good habits are doable, but eating right and exercise (just to name two) are difficult because people are naturally lazy and hate change.
