      I think that depends on the point of view, when we are the mustaches we are wearing Kristin, but the real question is, why are we doing that? Do we have any free will to decide by whom are we being worn?.. but then again if we 'are doing something' it means we have a mind of our own, so can the mustaches even wear Kristin if they are a subject, unless of course this particular mustaches are something more..

      (ENTP) No wrong questions... just wrong answers. Lots of wrong answers.

    • @L4sz10
      @L4sz10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @Kharui (INTP here) the right question would have been:
      "How can we decide about anything if it is white or not?"
      Or, in other words:
      "What are the sufficient and necessary criteria of the whiteness of something?"
      Once we have the answer to this question, we can also decide if the fridge (or whatever we have that we call a fridge) is white or not. All the other questions about what makes a fridge a fridge, who owns it, or what specific experiences certain people had with fridges, are secondary, and do not bring us closer to the answer.

    • @HerKnightable
      @HerKnightable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Kharui Sarcasm mostly, but on occasion I use irony.

    • @L4sz10
      @L4sz10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @Kharui any question is a problem. A problem can be either ill-defined or well-defined. A well-defined problem has clear expected solutions, while the ill-defined does not have clear goals.
      A right question is what seeks answer to a well-defined problem, or transforms an ill-defined problem to a well-defined one. A wrong question seeks answer to an ill-defined problem, or transforms a well-defined one to an ill-defined one.
      The original question was a well-defined problem, since its expected solutions are clear (the fridge is either white, or not). The questions other philosophers asked would all drive the argument to ill-defined territories, since they argued the very premise of the original question itself.

    • @L4sz10
      @L4sz10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Kharui because asking questions is an algorithmization, and you need clear goals to produce an algorithm that solves a problem.
      I am not saying that ill-defined problems are irrelevant, they are relevant, but propositional arguments do not provide the optimal grasps on them. They are usually approached by intuitive or participatory methods (like, if you want to know what love means, the best approach is to participate in it).

      Oh my gosh. Thank you for pointing this out. All this time I was trying to figure out a deeper meaning of the diagram. Is it a clock? Is it a S/N conversion table? Are the personalities taking on the philosophical personality of another personality? But as it turns out, as it always does, the true answer is a lot simpler and somehow more impressive.

The question of the color of the refrigerator is like the question of the appearance of the woman. It is not the appearance that makes you a woman, but your function. Refrigerator, keeps milk cold - ISTP has just fetched milk from a functioning refrigerator - Of course there is a refrigerator in this house. As an ISFP you got my response exactly right! I usually stay out of these type of conversations and finally chime in toward the end of the conversation with, “It doesn’t matter…. as long as….” Or “does it really matter?” I’m not generally that interested in deep philosophical debates unless it’s something I really care about personally or affects my life in some way. I don’t care to debate or argue.
    I feel that everyone has a right to their own opinion and everyone’s feeling are valid. That doesn’t mean I don’t believe in absolute truth, because I do, but sometimes I feel that it’s better to have peace than debate and argue. And that’s just how I live my life 😎.

    • @jansvoboda4293
      @jansvoboda4293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      i do not think INTP could not catch up. Quite the opposite, he sees what is ENTP asking and ISTP while using straightforward method to identify the fridge does cannot describe how he is doing it. And then the INTP realizes that instead of focusing on defining basics for answering the question, people are putting there irrelevant questions as they have different goals in it . And so he concludes it makes more sense to not waste any more time becasue the outcome is predictable and INTP does not have the skills and energy to keep people on track for to arrive at any meaningful conclusion.

      @gapoorva5289 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jansvoboda4293 Well I did mention that we are on different planes which automatically means that while ISTP is generalizing using their Ti-Se, INTP might have traversed a 100 different options due to their Ti-Ne. But they do take time to reach to the conclusion because they negate a 100 options to reach there perfectly while ISTP doesn't consider those 100 options and might have used only 20-30 options present at the moment to generalize. Eventually they do each the same generalization but in a different way.

      It is also more of a clash between ENTP Ne (how we know what we know) vs ISTP (we just know it is just in front of us).
      INTP reads both and tries to mediate so that the actual question is answered.

    "Does the color of the fridge help it do its job?"
    BTW, I have an answer to that. White (or silver) reflects the heat off so it stays cold inside using less electricity.
    One types asked what is a fridge? I ask, is a root cellar a fridge? If so, some fridges are brown! Or other dirt colors!
    Loved the use of philosophical buzz words like "hedonism" to help us see how this is like every philosophy question ever. It is both interesting and pointless!
    Glad the INTP avoided epicureanism!

  • @dudeinadoughboy4327

    Technically a "white" fridge would be any color _but_ white. Things appear to be certain colors because they're actually reflecting that/those wavelength(s) of light, whilst absorbing the others!
    So I suppose the color of the fridge would come down to: is it the color it's _perceived_ to be, or is it the color of those it _absorbs?_
    And a fun little side note because I love Schrödinger's Cat, if the fridge is indeed the color that we _perceive_ it to be, does that then mean that an object only gains color once it's perceived at all? 🤔
    (Or I guess put another way, if an object is the color of that we perceive it to have, if we are not looking at it, is that object then colorless until we _can/do_ perceive it?)

    This is SO much fun. I haven't even finished my first run-through yet and I have to post.
    ENTP: Prove me wrong.
    ISFJ: We all yearn for the day we can prove you wrong.
    Me: And hope will keep you alive. You're welcome.
    I should add that, while you skirt Carthesian self-acknowledgement, the color issue is one I've looked in to before and it turns out world really *did* used to be in black and white. Okay no it didn't, but what we didn't have until strangely recently given the thousands of years of history is common words for colors that everyone can agree on. Centuries ago a tree was simply tree-colored without any worry over its inherant treeness.
    But then how do we know we see the same colors to begin with? Because visible light wavelengths are a constant? Color-blind people don't see it the same. So it is the light that defines colors or ourselves?
    (I just got way too excited by this and wanted nothing more than to throw more idea-bombs into the fray and keep the discussion going, but alas. It's not a real discussion. Or is it?......)
    My daughter and I had a similar argument the other day when she insisted at the grocery that she needed one large punpkin cake instead of many small ones. I said there's no difference as they're all the same in their cakeness. She eventually won out, not because the cakes are any different, but because she turned something I said around on me. I don't actually remember what we said, but I was very proud.
    And this whole thing got away from me but I thoroughly enjoyed how meta the argument of the sketch got in the subtitles.

When they gained their name, there were few names for colors, and "red" was used as a catch-all term for anything vaguely that color. Also, the term "orange" referring to color actually comes from the fruit. The fruit was called an "orange" first, then the word came to be used for the color as well

    Kristin you look fabulous in a top hat. 🎩I feel like you could make it a regular thing. Also, as an ENTP I appreciate how you disarm us by suggesting others only wish they could prove us wrong. Likely true, but one must never let down one's guard 🤣
