    I think the U.S. is in a position to dominate at the World stage for years the way our young up and comers are developing. It’s almost a sure thing our top college studs are going to win World and Olympic titles. We thought we had chances back in the day after Smith, Brands, Cross, with a handful of wrestlers (Kolat, Williams, McIlravy, Abas,etc) to win a few, but now we are right up there and surpassing Russia in the long game of talent.

      @Pookies friend RayRay The bad side of doing folkstyle from an early age is sometimes these guys don't know how to adapt to certain scramble and scenarios which cost them. I came from freestyle for two years and got third in state my first year wrestling folkstyle, but it definitely helps with conditioning and mental toughness

    Wow is all I can say - old timer - retired from coaching after many years - this kid is very special - reminds me of Wade Schalles - his dump is nearly perfected - and his constantly driving feet make up for any defense of the dump - runs legs like a champ and always looking for a bar, cross wrist or cradle, legs to a ball and chain - such a multiple threat - he thrives on chaos - but there is very little chaos going on for him in getting into his positions - a perfected dump is almost impossible to stop - when he clamps on your arm, you have to get a hand on his hip to block - it is the only way to stop it - then you have to break away while keeping him from getting his hips underneath you - once he does that he has you…every time
    He will continue to be very exciting to watch - the issue now will be can he avoid serious injuries while climbing the ladder?

    American Wrestling at its best. Excellent leg and arm control. He's always on one or the other and many times both. Knows how to keep his weight on his opponent and digs his toes in the mat. The way he gets behind the leg to raise it on the standing cradle is brilliant. Again, using his weight and body to apply pressure or to contort his opponent. At 2:48 he does a nice slip into a standing head and arm. But it's not just the slip. Look at the positioning of his feet and hips. His hips are always where they need to be. Tournaments are tough too cause guys will study you throughout the day. So if you stick to 3 or 4 tricks they'll usually get your number by the semi finals. But this kid doesn't have tricks or even a style to defend. He's just doing all the basics but doing them all 100% correct. I would like to see more of him having to defend, to see how he is under that pressure. The few times he did here it seemed more like counters. Which is what you should do. Defending allows your opponent to try again. Countering an attack correctly puts you at an advantage. But when someone is better than you, all you can do is defend. Congrats to this young man.

    Tried the spaddle many times, not sure why he kept releasing the leg he had in. If he keeps his leg ride he likely would've pinned two of those guys and prevented all that flailing they were doing when he transitioned to a tilt. Bright future either way, the competition seemed a bit sub par though considering some of those "throws" he was able to do. Specifically the second match I believe where they were both standing upright and he just fell back with the guy. Don't know many high caliber wrestlers that would allow that to happen.

    • @Charactermatters650
      @Charactermatters650 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll tell you why - the spladle can take a lot of work and he is not facing schmucks even though he is dominating them - he is using legs and then getting ball and chain tilt off legs (something I did as a legs kid 50 years ago). Yes a lot of flailing, but frankly a very easy 2 points to be had - its a cheap tilt and old school, but it is easy to get from legs and he only wants the quick points before he transitions - low tech easy points if you will.
