    Spanish Romance (Romanza) - This is an iconic work and may the most popular and well recognized works for classical guitar by the general public. The composer is anonymous. Also known as “Romance Anónimo” (Anonymous Romance), “Estudio en Mi de Rubira” (Study in E by Rubira), “Romance de España”, “Romanza” and “Romance d’Amour” and more titles. Includes fingering.
    More info on the piece via its Wiki: “Its origins and authorship are in question. It is suspected of originally being a solo instrumental guitar work, from the 19th century. It has variously been attributed to Antonio Rubira, David del Castillo, Francisco Tárrega, Fernando Sor, Daniel Fortea, Miguel Llobet, Antonio Cano, Vicente Gómez, and Narciso Yepes. The Anónimo (anonymous) part of its name has been incorporated over the years due to this uncertainty. The question of authorship has probably been propagated by three main reasons: the lack of claim by its true author, the desire to avoid paying copyright fees, and the desire of publishing companies to claim the lucrative copyright of this world-famous piece. The style of the piece is that of the Parlour music of the late 19th century in Spain or South America, having a closed three-part form: the first in the minor key and the second being in the major key, with the third being a restatement of the first.”
    The piece is certainly not by Sor, that is just way off, but Tarrega would not be a huge stretch. Though, if it was by any legit composers I would imagine the piece has been altered overtime to simplify it and make it more pleasing for mainstream consumption.

      Nice, that is a difficult first piece unless you played other styles of guitar previously.

    Another great one! It's interesting watching your RH thumb. My years of holding a clarinet have made that thumb a relatively inflexible digit. It's something I have to concentrate on quite a bit when I practice. Thank goodness for Giuliani! Your fluidity in the RH is a great example for me. Do you have any specific exercises/stretches to help with this, or is it just a matter of time? Happy holidays to you and the fam!

      Thanks so much! There is much debate about thumb joint movement but for the most part as long as your hand is in a good position you'll work it out.

    I love watching your tutorial even though I don't play the guitar. I play the ukulele and learning the same piece now. I benefit a lot from your teaching on how to play the piece musically. Thank you!

    I just bought both your Gr.5 and 6 Books, in pdf format from your website. The accompanying notes with each piece are appreciated, but I try to ignore the tab version as I tend to cheat and play only tabs.... not good If I wish to learn that fret board well. This famous piece gets into the upper frets quite often...great for me to learn! Some good barre practice too! Enjoy your coffee!

    Bar 14. I’m sure in other music for this piece of played a d# in place of the b. Is this wrong an option. It seems to sound better.

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar
      @Thisisclassicalguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mention the D sharp in the sheet music edition as an option but I've played a B there. There is no definitive version so whichever you prefer.

    Nicely played. Thanks for sharing. I watched your reviews on the cordoba c10 and c12 and was wondering if you had some thoughts on spruce vs ceded tops on those 2 instruments?

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar
      @Thisisclassicalguitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find for those guitars the Cedars are better overall, a bit fuller, louder, and more responsive. The spruce is nice too but I think because they are a bit over-built guitars in general the cedar is better.

    Hi Master, can we get a tab? I am a self-taught for over a year now. I know you put out a tab but I can't read that, I just know how to read a tab with numbers only :(

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar
      @Thisisclassicalguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the free pdf comes with both a notation edition and a separate tab edition at the end.

      @@Thisisclassicalguitar It's brilliant actually because I learned this elsewhere, but struggled to find a consistent flow and just playing the melody part sorted this for me. There is another part BAR 29-30 where I was shown to initially play a G# (3rd string, 1st finger, 1st fret), B (5th string, 2nd finger, 2nd fret) & G# (1st string, 4th finger, 4th fret), which is a stretch and then awkwardly shit to the B7 Barre chord you show for just the final 4th finger shift (G#, A & F#). You go straight to the B7 Barre chord, which is a lot easier and sounds nice, but I'm curious which is correct if there is such a thing?

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar

      There are many versions of it but no manuscript to give us a definitive version.
