      @Nylonresonance 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@no-rq7fp different hands require different practice is the conclusion I have come to. I am speaking from my own perspective as well. Brad's advice has really become a touchstone for me for evenness of rhythm and stability at higher speeds. Of course Pepe's emphasis on relaxation and accenting different parts of the quadruplet helps too, but nothing has helped my tremolo as much as this video.

    I've started learning the Larghetto tremolo practice in Sagreras Book 3, Lesson 4. I've never been able to master the tremolo and thought I would start with something simple. My original idea was to start with eighth notes like you did, but with p a. Then triplets with p a m. And finally the finished product with p a m i. But your method seems much more astute. And your description of WHY one plays tremolo was a true AHA moment. Thank you.

And also how to make different types of melodies with different chord progression, and play songs on tremolo. There are no lessons on internet regarding this. If there would be few melodies and simple songs' lessons, it would get us close to become performers.

    Interesting approach Bradford, I'll try it. This biggest problem I have with the tremolo is after about 3 minutes of keeping it even, I have to concentrate hard to not tense up. By the time I get to the end of the piece, my right arm is burning.

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar
      @Thisisclassicalguitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be you have some tension issues, aim for precise placement of nail on the string for clarity of sound rather than volume and try to ease off the pressure.

    Hi.. love your lessons and great feeling of the songs that you play.. I was wondering if you had ever tried the Flamenco type of Tremelo. they do ... PIAMI instead of PAMI.... I wonder if that extracount wold throw off the Musical bar count?.. I like the PIAMI style as the Index is right there after the P is done.. Just wondering thx for all of your stuff..

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar
      @Thisisclassicalguitar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, lots of classical pieces are specifically written for a four note tremolo so I wouldn't usually throw in an extra note. But especially in flamenco you can spice it up so go for it. It doesn't throw off your beat count, you just play a quintuplet (5 notes per beat).

    Ah man! You RUINED it in the last minute! It was a great exercise until the end where you start talking that typical egotistical guitarist BS..... "Oh, it's SO easy". Even that FACE you're making while literally saying ""it's really just an illusion" says it all,,,,, "I'm SO GOOD, this is SOOO easy". WHAT IS THAT?! What IS it with you guitar players describing what took in most cases YEARS & YEARS of practice as "easy, simple, an illusion"?! NOW that YOU'RE able to do it effortlessly, you wanna describe it as being "effortless"?!??! NOW that you practiced so much that it's easy, you want to describe it as "easy". That makes as much sense as a body builder finally being able to bench press 500lbs after yrs of lifting weights & taking steroids daily & saying "it's REALLY just an illusion, it's not actually that much weight, it's actually really easy". Yeah no sht Sherlock, it's easy NOW! But it for damn sure wasn't easy the first time you tried. It was a great exercise for 10 min, but you ruined it with that last min of typical guitarist ego bs. Rant over

    • @Thisisclassicalguitar
      @Thisisclassicalguitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh my, should I give you a refund for the lesson? What I say in the video is that the musical result of tremolo is an illusion as continued from the description at 1:41 (the illusion of a sustained melody), I never say that the technique is easy or an illusion in terms of practicing. That said, it actually isn't crazy difficult if you have a well-rounded technique and have reached the intermediate level (which takes years of course). I don't know of any tremolo works that are below the intermediate level and if the right hand is well trained in scales and arpeggios I've never had a student who can't play tremolo. Trying to play it at the speed of a professional classical guitarist is unrealistic of course, but it can still sound very good at the student level.

      @@Thisisclassicalguitar I misunderstood you, my apologies. Being a guitar player for practically my whole life, this particular thing drives me nuts bc it's something I've heard over & over again from guitarists when I first started playing & I still hear it today 25 yrs later, despite now living on another continent all together in the western world. Are you a professional classical guitarist? I suppose I'm wondering approx what the speed would be that you're saying starts getting unrealistic? I just started the famous tarrega recuerdos de la alhambra song a few months ago & am getting better at doing it all the time, I'm hoping I'll have it in a year. Yours was the first exercise I ever did to try to get better at it apart from simply practicing the song. It's a good exercise, thanks
