What an idiot. There was a genuine risk and just playing it off, somebody is bound to think that is safe because a guy who can make all that stuff an operate machinery must know what's safe.

I love the stupid time travel bit, you could have just said it's old footage but you made a gag out of it and i love it. It's one of the things that makes this channel stand out as one of the best on youtube
Also a nice way to have a bit more dan on the channel than what we’ve been used to recently.
I'm not positive, but in the garage scene at the start, it looks like a green screen was used to being them all together to shoot the opener. Gavin is looking forward (at a video feed?) instead of toward the action when it happens; and, his lighting is different than the others.
@@jpaugh64 I see what you mean but checkout the reflections on the Pulse Jet and the Play button in the back when they walk out. They were definitely there, unless they dropped huge budget on VFX to generate the reflections.

@@garouthedemon7401 I imagine they decided back in 2017 that the footage wasn't that exciting, and they would just leave it as B-roll footage and move on to something better.
Now that the pandemic has hit, and it is incredibly difficult to get people together to film, they decided to edit together the episode and release it. I bet they have many episodes that were never released due to them being deemed not good enough. They just decided to release one after the fact.
the time travel story does have the unfortunate implication that they have a time machine and made no effort to prevent any of this, just filmed a collab

That is exactly why I have a hard time watching Colin's channel. I love what he does, but can't abide by the way he does it. It was the episode when he built the knife belt thingie that I had to stop watching.

Probably a quartz glass window. Quartz glass has excellent thermal properties and does not get soft and gooey, like pyrex.

I truly appreciate that these guys try and keep stuff interesting, its the little things like the intro at the beginning that make it so much better than them just releasing a video that they had lying around with some " this was filmed pre covid" label on it. Long time fan of colin amd slow mo guys, i just love how professional slow mo is and colin is just sitting there, ear muffs around his neck, giving the camera a thumbs up as a tube of stainless steal gets to red hot. Truly a mad lad, and loved for it. Cheers chaps
I have a surgestion for a realy nice slowmo, i am currently learning for a welding degree and the teacher explained to us that with a mig/mag machine the arc length is always kept constant by the power source.
I will try to explain how it works and how this might be done in a controlled enviroment:
If a torch is kept at a horizantal level while welding on some steel plate and the plate suddenly makes a 90 deg turn downwards away from the torch, the arc will theoreticaly try to remain at the same height, when it tries to connect to the lower piece, it will have a much higher resistance from the shielding gas as it has to travel through more gas, as a result the arc's temperature will decrese and the wire will not melt for a very short time, allowing the wire to get closer to the steel and thus reducing the distance the arc has to travel, reducing its resstance and increasing its heat.
when moving the torch closerthe same principle applies except it will be opposite.
I do not know how much time this process takes but it is not noticable, so then i thought of you guys and how you might be able to make it visible.
i hope the process is clear to you how i explained it.

Definitely need to see you do another collaboration with Colin once the world goes back to a semi-stable state. Not necessarily the best footage you've shot, but still entertaining none the less, and the fact that it was my three favorite British youtubers together in one video meant I watched it the moment I knew of its existence......

I love how Colin is having the time of his life almost melting a jet engine and Dan & Gav looked (quite reasonably) terrified of it.
Especially given that, at the time of this video, he'd just retired from being an explosives tech in the army. It probably takes a lot of loud fire to scare Dan.
