    Excellent vid as I've just bought myself the same bender, thanx for the tip regarding bending square tubing. I never knew it could do that.

    Hey Cliff, that tool is awesome, I made a miniature version of it for bending small, flat or round bar.
    But square tubing is the ultimate project material.
    I was looking at pipe benders but nearly all of them were for round pipe and make square tubing fold and kink rather than bend, so seeing one made for square tubing brings joy to my D.I.Y petrol machine heart.
    And I must say, your first attempt at a loop looked 100%.
    I think you should get a wood plank, put a hole in the centre of it, big enough to fit the pipe, and use it like a third hand.
    Your loop twisted because the longer end was dropping down the whole time.
    So using the wood with holes, you can slot it over the far end of the tube and it would act as a crutch or extra person, holding the other end stopping it from dropping lower, and eliminating the twisting. Just set the hole height level with the bar
    Just add feet to the board so it can free stand.
    👍👍👍

      Cheers Darren, you have certainly got the hang of 3d printing better than me, but I can do what I need to, just!

      @@CliffsShed ha ha yeah that robot suit was overkill, I like messing around designing stuff, started off with a straw holder that clips onto a glass, now I'm trying to design my own Formula1 car
      Amazing machines for making replacement parts but the amount off things you can make is insane.
      Plus the price of filament has just gone back down in price again, yee haa.
      👍👍👍

    Fabulous! I thought that box would be beyond your bender, but no, it did a fabulous job with a bit of heat & so much more elegant than had you made it from four bits & welded it together. Lovely to have reproducible bends giving it a nice symmetry & a factory look. Thanks for sharing!

    Well done Cliff, triumph over adversity. I swore on your first attempt I could hear it coming out the ground. It could do with a removable horizontal brace halfway up the stand that you fix to wall or bench, this will of course trip you up when you forget its there, but would help steady the whole rig. Cheers, Jon

    Hi Cliff.Congratulations on your bender.I owned that bender for over 20 years and I use it now and there,but never paid much attention to it.At that time I was fascinated with this rolling cages to go with sport country cars that protect the driver in case of turning up side down.Nothing came out of it.You need pipe benders,tube benders,expensive soldering equipment etc and a lot of work and money.Looking at your project,it looks like I can get a second life out of my bender.Thank you Stay safe.

    I have one of these benders and they are fantastic. However they are limited. Don’t expect a light weight, tool to be able to do all stuff you have been dreaming of for years, perfectly. They are what they are and I use mine all the time for lots of stuff…if you have access to a machine to turn your own dies , you’re way ahead….enjoy

    I've just got the blue Vevor bender that bolts on a bench !!!! What a fantastic Machine !!!! I can clamp it on to a Work Bench with G Clamps. I would cut a 45° slot in the square Metal Bar and Bend it to 90° and Weld it !!!! I don't think I've got the strength to bend that stuff now I'm 68 yrs old !!!!! I got it for bending flat steel mainly !!!! It's a bit Confusing at first !!!! But I can watch your video to find out how to use it properly !!! There were no instructions, just an exploded parts diagram !!! But I'm Very pleased with it !!!!

  • @larrysmurthwaite773
    @larrysmurthwaite773 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am impressed with it bending that size of tubing, by the looks of your hands it is HRS which is pretty stout. I have the bench model of that unit and have been successful with flat and round bars. They do open up more capacity in the shop, the forming die you made was brilliant! How did you decide on the amount of offset? The dimple area? Well done that brought some sunshine into the shop eh?

    • @CliffsShed
      @CliffsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It did indeed Larry (in the end anyway) :-) I just did the dimple as a "That looks about it", didn't really have a clue, as two of them split i suppose it could be a bit much, but the other two are fine, so altogether a bit inconclusive!
      Thanks for watching,
      All the best,

  • @MrSteeloneill

    If you cap one end and fill it with sand then cap the other end you won't have to heat it .
    And it shouldn't close in to tight on itself.
    If you heat it you are weakening the steel .
    Good job though 👍
