I totally can relate. I was dancing ballet and Competing in Figure Skating. My coaches said I needed to choose between skating and ballet. I picked skating, and then was forced to retire before ready at 24. I was severely depressed for years. Now I'm a Competitive Ballroom and Latin Dancer. When any Olympics are on it pangs my heart and soul. Sending Love and Hugs.😪❤️❤️❤️

Dear Hannah, I have been following you for years and I really admire your career, your person, what you say and what you write. I am old now (71 years old) and my life has been a succession of transitions and the opportunity to experience many "new lives". I worked as a stagehand, lighting technician and theatre set builder from the early 1970s, then as an actor, musician and composer from 1979 to 1987. In 1988-1989, I managed the press services of France Inter, the Opéra Bastille and the Aix-en-Provence Festival; then, I devoted myself to decoration, before starting studies in Literature at the Sorbonne in 2007 (at the age of 53...). A few years later, I defended a thesis in French Literature at the Sorbonne, "Les Décors de Molière" (published in 2015). Then, I did a Master's degree in Art History in 2016. On December 10, 2022, I defended another thesis in art history ("François Chauveau (1613-1676), designer and engraver"). The catalog of this artist (more than 3,000 issues) is to be published by Hollstein in partnership with the National Library of France. I am also the father of a lovely adopted daughter, Eszter, born in 1994. Despite appearances, I do not believe that all these slices of life are due to simple chance. Love. Philippe.

@Phillipecornuaille Hi,Same, same I'm an actor/writer/theatermaker just turned 70. On the precipice of a new beginning, reclaiming my dance-trained body after arriving at the other end of breast cancer. I've followed the lovely Hannah to attempt to regain some of the strength and flexibility that chemo destroyed. Working on writing a one woman show. And it it takes 3-4 years, so be it. Cheers!

I loved everything you said, and can relate. I appreciate that you want to hear our stories. I too had Olympic aspirations, as a runner. I worked really hard at it but came up short. Later, against the odds, I tried to be a professional tennis player. I gave it my best, but unfortunately, to succeed in tennis you have to start very young. Trying so hard, making sacrifices and then failing, hurts. But an even greater hurt would have been the regret of thinking what might have been possible but I didn't try.
In my journey afterwards I did a lot of wandering, literally. I went all over, spent a lot of alone time with God. A light came on and I knew I was meant to take an artistic direction, as a painter and sculptor. It's a challenging career, but I find satisfaction in knowing it's what God intended for me to do.
There's a purpose to it all. Thank you for sharing your journey, insights and faith. You're an inspiration. Knowing that you're where God wants you to be, doing what He made you to do...that is the true definition of success.

ever since your rhythmic journey, which is when I first started following you, I felt such a deep connection to you and understood you almost in every way. With your passion and dreams in rhythmic and now as a ballerina, it makes so much more sense now knowing you are a Christian. Your identity with Christ translates to the energy you bring into your performances and even training. It is from above Hannah. Those dreams and passions are all telling within your eyes, and it is from Above. I felt it too and I feel it still from you. That same feeling and the same "after taste' and the same involvement and energy you put out into the world for it. God bless you
I always wanted to make it a bigger part of my life but never did. I let the outside noise and what other people thought get to me, even though they knew I could become someone from it. I am very proud of you regardless. Your beauty shines from within and your identity in Christ is the most precious thing. Keep going!!!

I did rhythmic for 11 years, everyone said I should go to the national team, I had great flexibility, passion and big dreams. I passed all the tests for the national team, everyone said I should have been in the national team, but the coaches cut me in the last test because of scoliosis... I went to many doctors, got a scoliosis brace and brought a packet of papers from doctors that said that I can play in the national team but the coaches didn't accept it... I got depressed, my dreams ended, I continued for another year and then I stopped once and for all my life changed for the worse (bad friends, smoking, late night , depression, mental meds, etc.) Now I'm trying to get back on my feet having left rhythm behind and want to study at university!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your journey from one career to another. Of course, very few people your age have had any career at all so you are definitely overachieving!
I had not realized it was so difficult to qualify to be an individual rhythmic gymnast at the Olympics. I found your channel because I saw your routines on the FIG channel for 2018 worlds.
Hearing Christine Still (BBC gymnastics commentator) do the commentary for your Commonwealth Games routines reminds me again of what a star you are!
You seem so down to earth and approachable that I forget sometimes what an amazing two careers you have had/are continuing to have in the public eye.
I'm very glad you were able to work through the difficult times of leaving gymnastics and starting ballet and you must be so proud of yourself for sticking with it!
You have really created your own path, and that is very rare!

@@HannahMartinRG thank you very very much for your sweet reply! I’m very glad that I can provide any help!
I’m sorry that those world championships are not your best memory. I watched your amazing, emotional hoop routine to “Tears of an Angel”, and wanted to see more of your routines. When I searched for your name on TH-cam, your channel popped up! As a gymnast, you were so versatile with conveying emotions with very different types of music, and your style was always so enjoyable to watch!
I also very much appreciate your gratitude, and would like to return the favor! (See the reply to this reply!)
Your open mindedness, humility, and ongoing desire to improve in all aspects in your life are character traits that you seem to have been raised with, and have chosen to continue. These traits have served you so well, and will continue to do so!
Remember to give yourself credit for at least trying to improve even if things don’t seem to be working out right away. Usually, the more difficult the road travelled, the stronger we become. However, it can be challenging to stay on that road and it’s perfectly normal to wonder if this is the right direction.
All of our life experiences are valuable even if/when we want to forget them.
I have even found myself grateful for negative experiences (years later!) when they have helped me to provide comfort to somebody else going through something similar. For example, you can be a valuable emotional support for another dancer who has to go through surgery.
Judging from the comments in all of your videos, you are a wonderful role model to aspiring dancers, young people and Christians/people of faith in general. Your youthful energy and enthusiasm are also great motivators for us older folks.
Making a career change requires a great deal of courage. Publicly documenting your life seems like it is almost an extra career in itself. It also takes courage to leave oneself open to potential criticism and worse from the whole world. Hopefully you have not had much of that!
I’m not making this up: a major reason why the best basketball players in the world don’t want to participate in a slam dunk contest, which used to be a regular and very popular feature of the annual NBA All-Star game, is because they don’t want to be ridiculed on social media if they miss. They are multi millionnaire superstars, but do not want to leave themselves open to criticism/ridicule outside of their usual gameplay, which is already going to be criticized, whether it’s warranted or not.
      See how brave you are?
Thank you again for telling your story! I’m sorry your Olympics dream did not work out. Maybe one day you will go as a coach! Sam Mikulak was an American artistic gymnast who competed at three Olympics, was the national all-around champion many times, had the difficulty to be among the best in the world, but had problems with his nerves. He retired after Tokyo, had a big setback in his personal life, started coaching and was on the coaching staff with the US men’s artistic team, who won the bronze medal in 2024! Although coaches are not awarded medals, he must’ve been one of the happiest people in the world, judging from his social media!
There’s a similar story about Brian Orser, a Canadian men’s figure skater, who won the silver medal in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, and felt like a total failure because it was second place. He went on to become a coach and has coached a number of Olympic and world gold medalists including Kim Yuna!
Dreams can work out in unexpected ways!
Hope you are thoroughly enjoying your holidays! Best wishes! 🙏😄🧡🌊☀🐬

My health and genetic conditions are such that working or sport are unlikely in general…. But I can feel those aspects of who I am existing in life. So then it’s about how to decide how to use the skills and focus and joy for other things. In general, I’ve always been a better coach than direct competitor…. So one thing I want to do is get stable and healthy enough to use my skill sets to work on a business and also to start to coach again. Maybe it’ll take a decade, maybe it won’t happen at all…. But I can try with the same tenacity I have had in other aspects of my life. One of the things that struck me with what you said particularly was that we’re daughters of the King. There are two videos about this very subject that were posted in this last Olympics week! Channels: “Ballet Reign” and “Ballet with Isabella”. Highly recommend! 🙏😍🫶

Who did you look up other than Christ as a rhythmic gymnast? When I was little I loved watching old videos of Alina Kabayeva. I was put in pre ballet/gymnastics as a little girl. It was soon clear that I’d be too tall to artistic gymnastics and I just had already fallen in love with ballet, so off to Moscow I went… but I watch every Olympics and I often wonder what if I’d pursued RG? But I know that His plan is perfect and ballet is my calling 🇵🇹🇧🇷🇷🇴🇷🇺🇺🇦🩰🙏🏻 14:01
