Mclaren is not a place where you earn your first achievements quick and easy :P before you start feeling for Oscar just remember Lando is still yet to win a GP...
@@PiotrekSzostakTBF, that was 60% Lando's fault for petulantly screaming at his race engineer in Sochi 2021. 40% McLaren for not overruling him. Oscar almost getting a podium in his 11th race is pretty crazy!

Me too. I'm putting this one on the engineer and strategists, who should have know that there'd be a full safety car, but pitted him under the virtual, giving up the place to Hamilton.
Piastri car was not the same spec as Norris Piastri did not have the new rear wing

Lando keeping Hamilton at bay kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the 2nd stint.
Great drive, but those Mclaren's are scary quick on the Hards. I predict another win this season before it all comes crashing down again.

Really makes you wonder if Max has been more at fault all along.

@@DriftKingNL let's face it. Max and Lewis go to war with each other. They are two sides of the same coin. A bit Prost/Senna, Hill/Schumacher kinda vibes. Logical because their reputation is on the line every time they are in a direct fight on track.
Shout out to Lando for asking the crowd to stop booing Max, and congratulations Lando on your podium! You kept Lewis at bay like a beast!!

And Ferrari just being Ferrari, I don't feel anything anymore
He's the only person giving Max a run for the championship this year.

Though Williams couldn't hold onto their sudden pace all weekend, it was very nice to see them still finish so much better. Sargeant had the type of weekend that shows he can do better than he has been when the car is working, and that the gap to the teammate can very realistically be down to the gap in experience. Here's hoping this is the start of things finally getting back in order for them.
If you can't have variety at the front, the next best thing is for the entire field to be scrapping with each other for what's left. But everyone has to have enough pace to not always finish last for that to be possible. Here's hoping we're moving in that direction, because it doesn't look like we're getting any variety up front for the rest of the season.
We've got Hungary next and thats pretty much the same as Silverstone but with less straights and a few slow speed/medium speed corners thrown in.
The Ferraris being between the Williams cars, that's a surprise. And Sargeant in 11th, which damn nice to see. Also seeing the McLarens be actually competitive, oh that's always good to see. And been a while.
Lando getting 2nd had a bigger crowd reaction than Max winning. I think he was honestly confused when people were actually cheering for him.
These uploads are faster than Piastri in his rookie year which I think deserved at least a mention. Still good stuff Will!

Saniz lost like 4 places in like 3 corners. Its because he didn't make the strategy call. He let a person whose job it is, and to the surprise of no one he falls down the order. Just sad tbh.
No mention of Max hating the soft pillows on the last stint? No mention of sweet George chasing sweet Pastrys? His comment when he heard about Hamilton's new tires was GOLD, and they didn't even mention that they were softs.
This just shows how important the car is. Oscar was struggling at the back of the grid in Austria and just one week later he jumped to the front. Still happy for him and Mclaren though. Good job on their upgrades.

Interested to see if Williams can build off of this race. Albon finished top 10 again and Sargeant just missed out on the points in 11th. If Logan can improve in qualifying, I feel like he could get a top 10 at some point.
Big ups to McLaren nearly getting two on the podium, though like Williams, it's going to be interesting to see if they can maintain the momentum.
Meanwhile, WTF is happening with Ferrari? They go from a podium and 6th place finish in Austria to both cars nearly falling out of the top 10 in this race.
i left silverstone just after the podium ceremony, i barely even live an hour away and Will has already uploaded the comedy review before i got home.
Not sure what the marshals were doing, it took several ages to clear the Haas off the track (even though it was very politely parked at the edge, and was still in one convenient piece).
You're getting better at this Will, good on you. What is flying under the radar with this new generation of F1 fans is what we're witnessing with Verstappen. He's three race wins away from tying the "Record that will never be broken in formula 1", even as the field behind him closes the gap. Most of the younger fans even seem resentful of him and his incredible, and nearly flawless form. I hope you'll find a way through humor to draw your viewers' attention to the fact that they're witnessing history in the making.
Ferrari just decide on a strategy before the race huh? And they never let any variable affect it. Not tyre degradation, not safety cars, nothing. They're gonna do their 'strategy' and not pay the slightest attention to any other team on the grid and how tyres are working for them.

that point you made about everyone freaking out when lando got provisional pole then stopping was so accurate, i was sat at turn 2 and everyone went insane, then someone said 'oh wait, vertappen is on a lap'

Seeing ferrari and williams battling on track damn that made me think of the 90s
IMO it was the right call for McLaren to go on the hards. They have relatively high tire deg and the softs were originally projected to fall off after about 10 laps so. I think it was more of a risk that Lando could cook his tires like Hamilton did attacking
Zak Brown said he wanted his drivers on new tires. That meant Hards, because they didn't have any new softs and you're right about the tire deg.

Speed of these video releases after a race is wild but I’m all here for it 🎉
Mclaren absolutly nailed the strategy NAILED IT i kmow many people thought norris should of gone on softs but we saw how badly they dropped off with lewis they had pace but not enough to win the race going on the hards guaranteed secondif he couldget his elbows out and get his elbows out the guy did took a tip from verstappen and stuck razor blades to them great drive woohooo
According to Mclaren, they still have the ladt part of the upgrades to bring to the next race, im high AF on Hopium, but just maybe they can actually challenge
Might just be the front wing that Norris got already for this race, don't know much about it but german sky team mentioned that Norris got a new front wing while pastry boi still had the old one
That will depend on the weather, and Lando even said not to get all your hopes up. All these varied results we're seeing [behind Max of course] are due to track/weather specifics, and tire deg. Even as we see Checo showing the RB19 is beatable, Max is not. Expect Merc to be better in Hungary than McLaren. Ferrari may be good in Spa...it's very fluid right now.

From absolute unreliable tractors (Piastri DNF, Norris with about 5(!) Pitstops) to Top 4 machines. The McLaren did a splendid work.

I thought it was a great race, the McLaren's over performed if anything. I reckon a lot of the other teams struggled to get the new harder construction tyres working well. Albon had another great drive in the Williams! The Ferrari's were disappointing in race trim, odd strategy call for LeClerc again, and Sainz couldn't remember what Plan B was. Great review! 👏👍
