  • If you're a fan of motorcycle road racing then it's likely you've heard of the 27 year old Texan by the name of Garrett Gerloff but it's also likely you don't really know him. The two time MotoAmerica Supersport Champion and multi-race Superbike winner left the USA at the end of 2019 with a goal to make it to the top of the sport.
Garrett recently made a switch from Yamaha to BMW for the 2023 season which begins a new chapter for him after facing some very high & low points over the course of his first two seasons - ranging from WSBK podiums to MotoGP wildcards, and even his share of international drama.
We talk through his career thus far, some of the pivotal moments, and especially where he is at now in life on and away from the race track. We hope you enjoy getting to know Garrett as much as we did.

@@pipedreams_pod I like the fact that Garrett have the courage to give a shot to try everything he could to reach his dream especially going to Europe believing only in his skills. That was cool. Shame he was in different route not in the traditional MotoGP category when he was young.
Especially now that MotoGP badly needs an American rider that would represent US. Joe Roberts came close in 2020 but seems went south after the switch to Italtrans.

In case you would call a time in your career. I think the best thing to do is to transition to become a part of a team crew or Crew Chief or something maybe like J. Hopkins in Moto2. But it would be better if you would be in MotoGP team. That would be an awesome job post racing Garrett.
That way you can also find your woman there, through the gorgeous umbrella girls of the team. Win win situation. 😁 But you still got time to keep racing in Wsbk. Try to keep in longer as possible. Good luck

Garrett there were a lot of us fans in 2021 who never stopped believing in you and just knew that you were being treated a bit unfairly. I wish our voices could have shouted down all the negativity that was sent your way and that you put on yourself. I think you will get the chance to be Toprak's team mate again soon and are destined for more greatness!

That’s a honest, raw, humbling hardtalk podcast, especially about assen 2021. As a diehard Toprak fan, i was really pissed at that time. It’s very refreshing to hear Garrett’s side in raw words. Thanks a lot you all. I hope the best for Garrett. For onwards in wsbk, please don’t make us to get mad at you man 😅cause we do not really really want to.

I've followed GG31 through MA and WSBK, but I'll be honest, after some of those incidents in 2021 I kinda stopped. I admit I gave in to the knee-jerk reaction of some of the negative publicity surrounding how things unfolded. But for real, this podcast is exactly what I wanted to hear - the humanity of how everything happened. I still follow GG on his regular vlogs, but I am now even more of a fan. Hearing about his motivations, inspirations and his genuine character has made me a believer.
You guys are doing a great job showing the part of racing that doesn't get covered as thoroughly, and in the rider's own words. I'm working my way through your podcasts but call me a fan of Pipe Dreams Podcasts now too.

Garret is so rad, I’ve been watching him since MotoAmerica and it was awesome to hear the insight from riding different bikes and qualifying experience on Rossi’s gp bike. Keep the Pod going!
