  • Four in Hand Tie Knot, a no nonsense approach of how to tie the four in hand tie knot.
Otherwise known as the schoolboy knot, this versatile asymmetrical tie knot is often the first knot we learn to tie when we go to school.
It's an informal knot, and I show you how it's done.

This is also the only knot I know and I've learned it to help my ex-husband to tie a tie 😄
The video is very clear and I wished I had it at this time... 😀

What's with the "gonna" in the subtitle!:: British don't speak inner city urban USA slang.

I appreciate your feedback. The use of 'gonna' in the subtitle was intended to convey informality or colloquial speech. It's not necessarily exclusive to inner city urban USA slang; people in various English-speaking regions may use it. However, I understand the concern, and I'll certainly take it into consideration for future content. Let me know if you have any specific suggestions for improvement. Thank you

This is the knot I use very day. I have used the Windsor knot too, but have found this impractical with broader ties. Apart from this I quite like the asymmetrical nature of 4-in-Hand.

The four in hand is a good knot and depending on the occasion, a person might use a different knot. A Windsor knot is for a more formal occasion, but a lot of people get by with a four in hand knot. The important thing is that you wear a tie and you are comfortable and confident wearing it. 🙂

This is the knot I learned from my dad and the only one I know. I would love to learn more knots! Loved this video!!
Could you please tell me how to make sure the thin end doesn't stick out the thick one? 😅 that is my problem all the time 😂
    Thanks a lot! 💕✨🌟

it's a great knot, if you want to learn more about how to tie other knots, here is a link below to another one of my videos "5 ways to tie a tie knot". A great question Susana, the answer is to adjust the length on the thick end of the tie to be at least the circumference of your neck longer as a good starting point, it also depends on the length of your tie as to wear it will fall once tied, so additional adjustments may also be needed, glad you enjoyed the video.🙂

I use the 4-in-hand for everyday use. If i am going more formal i go for the Windsor know (Double breasted suits or similar)

That's great, have you considered trying a different knot to the 4-in-hand for your everyday knot, like the Victoria or Prince Albert knots? Have a look at another video we created on tie knots, you may like it🙂 here's the link: th-cam.com/video/q7MiKO29e5Y/w-d-xo.html

Really late to this video; however, it was aptly done. I do have a question. You gents in the UK have some really sharp ties; can you recommend a place to shop for classy ties that also have them in lengths for big and tall guys? Thanks for what you are doing.

If you live in US you could consider shop.gentlemansgazette.com/accessories/ties
      you could also try www.neckwearshop.co.uk
      Also www.thetiebar.com/ties?size=traditional%20-%20xl
Another company is this one, but I'm not sure if the do longer ties, but they do bespoke passaggiocravatte.com/
ebay is also a good option as well of used and new ties.
Hope this helps. glad you enjoyed the content🙂
