4 months in. First time ever getting locs. Super excited
thank you so much for your videos! I started letting my hair do its thing a little over six months ago and I watched your videos for the first couple of months, but I could feel myself getting impatient and comparing myself so I stopped. now that I'm at the six months mark and decided to come back to watch your videos around the same time and I'm shocked that I have similar progress!!! it happens so fast, I'm actually getting some legit locs! so so so excited! thank you again for sharing your journey ❤

@@slowmoezie and dave420 how yall doin now? This is like my 4th day and they’re kinda short, (I started off short) I also use the sponge. Whenever it’s my wash day (one so far) I took all advice domi gave to wash hair and my hair just went back to its old normal state (just a high top) and had to re-sponge it. When it grows more will this still be a problem?
@@ayomiflower I cut my dreads like 5 months ago, because they didn't become uniform in thickness and to be honest the sponge method isn't a good method for starting dreads if you want dreads which are atleast past ur ears in length and all the same thickness it . I suggest if U want long dreads U start of by sponging for like 1-2 months and then you go to a salon and get it twisted properly. And then U just keep on getting getwist regularly

I’m five months in. And it pretty much looks like yours. Used to wash twice a week. I missed a day in last week wash but I got a new shampoo and started washing once a week.
1 month into my journey, I got semi freeforms, I’m not going as Freeform as this guy but I pretty much just finger twist and separate them a little bit, I might start adding less oils because I don’t want mad build up in my mature locs
im 5 months in too, and i after i wash them they ball up (how you get yours to stay locked)
Keep it covered with a stocking cap don’t take it off for 3 weeks they lock

I’m on my 2nd month doing starter locks but I started sponging them to get them in a more cylindrical shape
i wouldnt use the sponge cause it gonna rip out your hair so just use towel

Not finna lie I got like 5 or so Congos and I separate anymore that I see. I honestly thought they were a phenomenon
Anyway to affirm whether locs will become a "congo" (feel like I'm butchering this lol) I usually twist my locs together like two "bangs" currently forming rn like spider legs in my vision (yes they once scared me cause I thought it was an actual spider)

After I wash my hair and it shrinks from 4-5 inches to 1-2 inches should I do something different because I was frustrated seeing my hair shrink that much
It’s natural and part of the process. That is just how your hair is. It doesn’t mean your hair isn’t growing. Embrace the journey. I’ve been loc’d almost four years.

Does putting coconut oil in your hair slow the process of your freeforms?
No, coconut oil helps to prevent hair breakage and strengthens ur roots
coconut oil is just bad for most people's hair period.
I’m on like 2 month progress and I’m just now starting to use the sponge, is that a good way to start cause I want to end up getting like the Congo dreads but every time I go to sleep it just gets flat
sleep with your arm on the side of your face thats what I do so the side wont get flat

your hair is matted cuz you dont put it in rubber bands at night. Trust me youll see big progress. Even if you have to use 20 rubber bands just do it
as the hair grows it’ll stop getting as matter and the locs will form into their own . i don’t think rubber banding your head up is freeforming my brother
