Very useful video for people starting out. I've been motorhoming for many years but I found it comforting to know that other people have experienced the same issues I have. With regards to the site electric hook up (EHU) points - the ones where you have to twist them to click live. I'm sure they were invented to cause grief to new campers - who spend about an hour wondering why there electric hasn't come on and checking fuses etc, all before being told by the person in reception that you need to twist it. For anyone wondering, new EHU points don't require twisting. Anyway, keep up the good work
I was only joking !!....it was meant as a compliment regarding your demonstration......I LOVE my motorhome, and enjoy going out for a day just as much as for a week......I am buying an A frame for a little Pug 107 I have bought, as that is the ONLY problem I personally have found with "vanning" as opposed to caravanning....As it is aroung 60 mpg, and free road tax, I am confident this will work........ Keep up the great videos !!!
Thanks Bob that film was brilliant! Filled in a lot of the gaps I was wondering about being a novice. Thought the checklist is a great idea and quite invaluable!
Geez, for weeks I've been messing around with my aerial and apps etc. I never realized the light indicated the signal. Shining a light in there I now notice it says "Signal Finder" - duh. Normally too dark in the cupboard to see. Thanks, very useful.
Did You both know that the approach to the Southport CAMC site is the old trackbed of the CLC Railway out of Lord Street Station towards Woodvale, Aintree and beyond?
Hi just something I noticed when you were checking the levels on the control panel, you kept pressing the view levels button to see how full you are, if you press and hold the button in until it beeps the levels stay on all the time. At night if you don't want them on do the reverse. Cheers mark
Hi Bob & Jenny Funny we watched a load of your videos only to realise that you only live down the road from us in Formby ,maybe one day we will bump into each other on a site or locally We have been using one of these expanding hosepipes for a little wile now and find them really handy as they don’t coil up and they pack away small , Ps thanks for all the content, keep up the good work
Useful video for newbies, but there are a few things that, in my opinion, are not quite right. 1) When reversing do NOT reply on the camera. That little girl was stationery but they have been known to move! Always have someone watching you whilst you reverse. You can replace your reversing bulb with one that "beeps" as well as shines for under £10. 2) Do NOT plug the cable into the supply post and then walk round with it live in your hand. Always plug into the MoHo first then the supply post second. Likewise unplug from the post first, then the van. 3) The explanation of the ALDE water heating setting is wrong. An empty triangle means the water is not being heated. Half full triangle means the water and heating are both on. Full triangle is water only and water temperature is higher than normal. After about 15 minutes or so his mode automaticaly reverts to half triangle mode. The only thing I would add for new comers is make lists. Including a list for leaving home, for arrival on site and for leaving site. Thank Bob for an interesting video from a fellow Sandgrounder (Ainsdale)
Thanks for your comments. It was interesting to review your comments on what is now nearly a 3 year old video.Yes we shouldn't rely solely on the reversing camera but in that situation I wasn't planning on reversing, merely pointing out what you can see. Sometimes it is not possible to have someone see you back, if you are on your own for example. The reversing camera does give a good view of what is behind you, along with excellent door mirrors. I would point out that I had plugged the hook up cable into the motorhome first, as I have always advocated. You are correct about the temperature controls. The previous motorhome Alde manual suggested the water was heated when the central heating came on, which is not the case on my latest motorhome, so either they changed the system, or the previous manual was incorrect. My current motorhome has the Swift Command system I don't have to worry what the Alde symbols mean, thankfully.
I haven’t even bought a Motorhome yet but trying to learn as much as possible to avoid expensive mistakes! Have you made a video yet on parking on blocks for uneven surfaces please? All the best.
Thanks, I don't think I've made a whole video about levelling ramps, but I will try and remember to film it next time. I'm sure I've filmed it at some time or other. Good idea, perhaps I will add to a beginners series I'm planning.
Just bought my first motorhome really useful. Do you have any blogs on how you clean your fresh water tank? It's been suggested to me to use something like lemon juice in the tank take the rig for a quick spin and then run out the water ?
When searching for a pitch and you want satellite tv, remember that the satellite is in the south east direction, a small compass will help when searching for a suitable pitch.
Hi Bob, Jenny and Poppy. What made you choose the Swift over the others you looked at (sort if I've missed a video!). I love the Swift Command system - that's almost the choice factor for me but over the Bailey Autograoh and your Bolero, etc, are there features that made the Kon Tiki your (very nice) choice. We currently have a caravan but are looking to upgrade to a larger caravan or a Motorhome. You guys seem to choose with a very practical mind, so comments on your choice go the Kon Tiki would be gratefully received. If you have done a video that covers it, feel free to send me the link instead! The videos are fab and mega useful by the way - please keep them coming!
I guess the biggest factor was price, this Motorhome was heavily discounted. Plus non of the Autographs have the twin bed, rear bathroom layout we like. There is the Alliance and Advance 76-4T, but they don't have all the extras this has. Importantly we get on with our Dealer, Todds Motorhomes.
Very informative for a complete novice like me! Hopefully we will be hiring soon to see if it is something we would enjoy! Thanks to you both! One question, does Jenny ever drive? I love driving but my husband usually drives because he is rubbish at navigating!
Hi bob Great content as usual. Could you please tell us where you purchased the adapter that fits into the fresh water inlet on the van and also hose Regards brenda and michael
Yes it’s a good job you had that camera it turned my stomach with that little girl. The Camping Club tends to say supervise your children, they are your responsibility nobody else’s. Where were her parents?

Thanks, yes those twist and lock ones were just designed to cause embarrassment to beginners. I've had to point it out to many campers!
Very helpful for people new to motorhomes.
What a performance for one night away !
Robert Parkes I wouldn't normally bother with the Aquaroll and Aquawaste for one night. This was just for demonstration.

Robert Parkes No problems. I was thinking it was the video where I demonstrated the Aquaroll. :-)
Thanks I’m learning. Need to know about levelling a van that does not give expensive self-levellers
Thank you, now watch this th-cam.com/video/rxLSopAm3sE/w-d-xo.html

Yes, that's why that side of the campsite is so straight.
Didn't i could move the steering wheel for more room, nice one guys! xx
Yes you can!

I use a product called Puriclean, here's my video; th-cam.com/video/HiZnsdmivWU/w-d-xo.html
No idea how I got here. I have no interest in motorhoming. But I found it really interesting and informative! Cheers.
Ah well at least you watched it, thanks for watching!

Colin Humphries thanks. Forget to mention that! Next video....

@@BobEarnshawMoHo Thanks for the Swift (pun intended) response! That's very helpful.

Jenny can drive, but she chooses not to, as she doesn't enjoy it.
Good video Bob ..what is your sat nav and how is it fitted on dash please ..I just bough a Falcon
It's a Falcon Navigator and it sits on a non slip rubber pad I bought from Falcon Electronics at the same time.
Excellent as usual
How many years have you been travelling?
We've been motorhoming since 2003
Great video.
Another excellent video. Very disappointed in the standard of the cabling for your Sat TV in that cupboard. Hope it wasn't done by a professional.
No, it was done by me, but I did tidy it up. Think this video will is nearly 4 years old!
Hi bob
Great content as usual. Could you please tell us where you purchased the adapter that fits into the fresh water inlet on the van and also hose
