    FYI, the 9th gen 2015-2017 Honda Accords do not have the screw in type spark plug tube seals. The tube seals are pressed into the valve cover. So, if the tube seals get hard or leak you will have to buy a new valve cover. This video applies only to the 2013-2014 9th generation Honda Accords.

      Yes. This information is CORRECT. 2015 -2017 uses an spark plug grommet which is built in the valve cover which can't be serviced separately.

    Holy crap! 6 minutes to make this vid is impressive!
    I was going to make a video on this myself, but decided to take the car into a dealership since I'm due for a valve adjustment (currently @ 138,000mi.)
    Getting quoted $450 for a valve cover gasket & a valve adjustment. Not the cheapest price but the valve adjustment requires more special tools and expertise than I have

    What an amazing video! I Donate vehicles to people in need and I have a super nice low mileage accord that was leaking. This video was spot on. As someone with big hands it was difficult to get the back connection off as my car had the plastic housing loose. I just undid the alternator wires (12mm socket), and the 3 connectors for that harness and I was able to move everything out of the way. Thanks for making this great video and for it being so time efficient.

    A lot of times these valve cover gaskets leak on these engines because of a failed PCV valve. Change that out as well after changing the valve cover gasket.

    • @kevinallen3000
      @kevinallen3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was concerned about this as my valve cover gasket starting leaking recently and I suspected the PCV valve. Is it possible it will stop leaking once I've replaced the PCV valve or will it continue to leak once it's started?

    Thanks for this video! I’ve changed quite a few valve cover gaskets but I found this video extremely helpful in locating what sensors to unclip. The one on the far right that is discussed around 1:20 is definitely a bear to remove and was honestly the most difficult part of this job.

    • @DillyPutty
      @DillyPutty ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried getting it off for a half hour and gave up: pried and wiggled it while pressing the tab but no luck. The clip came apart twice without coming off. More detail on this step would be very useful. I suspect there is a tool or trick to it. Disconnected the harness connections on the front instead (alternator, etc.) like most other videos to move the harness out of the way. I also disconnected the battery.

    Wonder how much a repair shop should charge customers to change the valve cover gasket on a 2016 Accord? Just making sure they aren't overcharging me. They quoted me $350 for parts and labor. Is this accurate? Thanks. Just hard to trust dealers too sometimes, cause my wife took her car to get inspected and dealer said she needed to replace 1 headlight bulb and they charged her $80-90 to do it before they would pass inspection. They duped her pretty good IMO, so wasn't too happy about that.

    • @natemortoniii7731
      @natemortoniii7731 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would pay $350 for the valve cover gasket replacement. If that included labor and parts. At AutoZone the gasket is $60 so figure $135 bucks shop time per hour at 2 hours or more in today's world, $350 ain't terrible.

    Hi, just found your channel, nice quick and clean. Just bought a 17 Accord coupe with very low mileage from a Honda dealer, car runs very well and smooth, after taking her home, I did a very close inspection on the engine block, I saw small amount of gunk on engine block corner beneath the plastic cover. I am sure there is a small seepages. I know it is a fairly easy fix but I am surprised to see such a new car already has gasket issue.

    Why would a valve cover gasket leak in the 1st place ?

      When switching from lets say regular full synthetic oil then you change to full synthetic oil for high mileage cars that will do it.

      Gary, if your main seal is leaking, then they would have to do something like that to fix it. This video is the "valve cover gasket" which is much different. May want to check verbage.

      @@Ahmad_Alhasanat Its not really that bad. Just need to take your time and take lots of pictures before removing things! Phones are a great tool for a mechanic, you won't forget anything if you take step by step pictures of things in place.

    This video is about 6 minutes. How much does it take the entire process to be done by a nonprofessional mechanic like me?

    • @NNKH2
      @NNKH2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends. Definitely longer than 6 minutes

      To give you some perspective, RB the Mechanic has a near 50 minute video and Mobile Car Mechanic has a 27 minute video. It can be done but I'd plan for a few hours.
