  • The families of those killed by Valdo Calocane have given their reaction outside court following his sentencing.
The mother of 19-year-old Barnaby Webber, Emma Webber, was the first to speak, saying "justice has not been served", adding the assistant chief constable of Nottinghamshire Police has "blood on his hands".
Ian Coates's son, James Coates, said Calocane has "made a mockery of the system".
Dr Sanjoy Kumar, the father of Grace O'Malley-Kumar, said the family will "never come to terms" with her loss and how she died.

He's a paranoid schizophrenic, he was never going to get convicted for murder. Anyone who knows anything about criminal law knows that. He also will likely spend the rest of his life in that hospital for the criminally insane. Whereas if he got convicted for murder he'd probably have been out in 30 years.

@@medievaltimes1482 It's not just the UK that is being destroyed by uncontrolled immigration, the same is happening throughout Europe and America also. The indifference of the politicians in the west does make it look like its by design, by destroying social cohesion it reduces societies willingness to stick together it then becomes easier for governments to force through policies that wouldn't be tolerated otherwise. There is strength in society if most of the population share an identity like being Irish British or French and if we get diluted in our own countries then we won't have that shared identity that is worth fighting for. Immigrants to a new country don't have an interest in how the country is ran by the government so it allows our esteemed leaders can pass legislation that that benefit themselves the rich and the powerful so I guess that why they're indifferent to immigration.

Will our leaders act before it is too late, or have we gone past the tipping point already. This is a tragic story but one which is going to happen more often and mental health will once again be used as a defence by certain sections of our ever degrading society.

They spoke with dignity, warmth and great intelligence, demonstrating that many of our institutions are broken, with little in the way of integrity and leadership. One hopes, from this awful tragedy, that we all find the courage to stand up for decent values and start the process of removing useless politicians and complicit institutional leaders by one means or another. May God bless the families.

The job of the CPS is to secure convictions. Manslaughter was the safe option, proving intent for murder in these circumstances would have been difficult.
Its only necessary for the defence to prove reasonable doubt for a not guilty verdict. The Police however have let the public down.
