This is why I love TH-cam. Today's generation probably doesn't know these wonderful and talented people or think, like in the case of Mr. Montalban, that he was only Mr. O'Rourke or Khan. Wonderful that someone has uploaded these timeless clips of history!
I forgot Montalban was a dancer. And, such a polished performer as well! Too often, the women are given the most interesting moves. It's great so see a performance where a man can shine, too.
Ricardo Montalban certainly had the moves! Several episodes of Fantasy Island also showed him dancing, riding horseback, and a number of other performances. He was an amazing man.
Elegance was her trade-mark! Thanks so much for writing. I'm a huge Cyd fan. If you have time, please view some of the other clips I've posted of the lovely Ms. Charisse! Here's one: th-cam.com/video/1Oifq46oQUc/w-d-xo.html Best to you, and thanks! varadero

Ricardo was great dancing this number, his arms are in classical Spanish flamenco style most time, his jumps incredible. She dances well, but he is the star at dancing here
@@MTknitter22 So true!! I usually can't take my eyes off of Cyd everytime she dances with a partner, alone, or with a crowd, she has all my attention. But in this piece I was between her not looking at him in her passages when he simply said in his gestures, "Look at this beauty I've got here" and I kept having glimpses of his infuriating (read fiery) provocative jumps and circles, definitely had all my attention there. Love it!!
Talent in those days was so deep. Montalban is always Khan to me but I never, ever saw his earlier work. What an amazing, multifaceted talent. Shatner never stood a chance.
Thanks Jim Rich! I've got 5 or 6 others featuring these 2 beautiful people. I'd be honored if you'd watch them at varadero1839! This was Ricardo's 1st film in the USA! They kept their friendship after this film for many years; both happily married to others. They just clicked! Best regards, varadero
Jim Rich: I was totally surprised too. Then again, Christopher Walken was a brilliant dancer too. Who woulda thunk it? I guess Ricardo did so well because his shoes were made of "rich Corinthian leather". I couldn't resist.
I didn't know Ricardo could dance. He was one of my all time favourite actors when I was young. So handsome. Now I have found this recording I will be returning frequently to se more.
Rome Saladino Thank you Rome! Viewing them together was like watching a "magic show!" Effortless, elegant and unforgettable! They were truly amazing. Also, reading your compliment is an honor! Love these 2, and have others for you if you have time! Best wishes, varadero

Cyd was unique in that she truly could impress with merely a flick of her shoulder, or a blink of an eye! Beautiful lady, and stupendous dancer! Thank you!
That Cyd. She could dance to any music in any style. Class, beauty, talent, charm. Quite a contrast to the half naked hoochie mamas wriggling around onstage today.

I remember seeing this movie years ago, but I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't remember this number. Truly amazing. Along with their talent and craft, they both put their heart and soul into this number.
I'm hoping they've both been re-united with their beloved spouses! May Cyd be with her handsome Tony Martin, and Ricardo with his beautiful Georgiana! Thank you for writing Gun Gor!
I have loved this dance segment of this movie since I was a child watching TV in the 1950's with my mother. How Beautiful they are/were together in this dance🎶🍾⚘

Notwithstanding certain earlier comments here, I fully agree with you! They were, for the time, incredibly sexy in this piece! Given the sensuality of their on-screen unions, one would think they were an item! The truth is they were both happily married to other people. Used to be a clip here from an awards show that had lovely Cyd pushing Ricardo onstage in a wheelchair to accept an award. That wasn't so very long ago. They were the most devoted of friends. Grateful to hear from you!
Ohhhhhhhhh...welllllllll...I'll lay you ten to one they WERE indeed an item alright, for at least one brief shining, and dare I say it, VOLCANIC, moment together in private, anyhow! No two such beautiful animals can in a million years, IMHO, summon the will to resist one another once they have DANCED thusly together, dancing together, in Hollywood metaphor, simply a stylistic version of sleeping together.
Yes, I fully agree with you varadero1839 - The lovely and talented Cyd Charisse was fully devoted to her husband, Tony Martin (a wonderful singer). She and Tony were married for sixty years upon her passing at age 86 in 2008. Tony would live on for another four years, before joining his beloved wife (in spirit) in 2012, at age 98.
Thanks so much! Sounds kinda "Sally Fieldish," but they really liked each other! Cyd was married to Hollywood/Singer Tony Martin, and Ricardo to beautiful Georgiana Young, 1/2 sister of Loretta Young. Cyd died before Ricardo, but once upon a time there was a beautiful clip up here on YT. It showed Cyd pushing Ricardo in his wheel-chair to receive an award. Somewhere, they'll go on dancing! Thanks so much for your message!
That was superb dancing and Cyd Charisse moved superbly dancing, and i never seen anyone move better than that! even better the second time around and thanks for upload
You're Welcome! I agree that they're wonderful together. I've some others of these two genius talents together here on YT. Please look for them on my channel: varadero 1839
brwnhoney Hi brwnhoney, Hollywood knew how to dress all their stars, even the newbies like Cyd! I think she'd only been on the MGM roster for a couple of years before this movie. It was Ricardo's first in Hollywood, and they became life-long friends. From what I've read, "just friends," and nothing more. They both married other people and stayed with them until their deaths. I've posted between 7-8 clips with them; they're amazing together! Not so much a publicity thing for myself, I just think you'll enjoy seeing them together. Thanks so much for your message brwnhoney! Best to you, varadero
Great actor Mr Moltalvan....rip....he said" I love usa as i love my best friend but I love mexico as I love my mother" one of our legends in Hollywood.....
SIGH. Women like Cyd don't exist anymore. Her talent, her beauty....Her charisma. She was SO FINE in every way! Oh...and btw...best legs to have ever graced the Silver screen, or the dance floor!
Think this film was from 1947; Ricardo's 1st US film. They were friends for life since 1st they met. Sadly, many years later Cyd literally wheeled Ricardo onstage to receive an award for lifetime achievement. It used to be here on YT. I have several others here featuring them both. Here's one:th-cam.com/video/MphSSn5iFfQ/w-d-xo.html Best to you, and many thanks! varadero
+Gerald Johnson Hi Mr. Johnson, First, you're welcome! When I 1st saw 1 or 2 of their movies I thought they were married, or similar. No such thing, even though they performed so beautifully together! They both married other people, and both couples were very happy for over 50 years. Some time ago there was a beautiful tribute to Mr. Montalban, and he was propelled onstage in a wheelchair by Ms. Charisse. I don't know if it's still on YT. Beautiful Cyd died about 7 months before Ricardo in 2008. Mr. Johnson, please look for some of the other clips I've posted with these 2 incredible talents! Best wishes, varadero
Brilliant I just love them both.My favorite dance by her though is the one from the film "deep in my heart"the tune, one alone dancing with James Mitchel whose also one of my favorite dancers, those days they sure had class. It sure is hard to believe that they have all gone now, they look so vibrant when you watch them on the screen.I sure miss them all.
And surprise to think that this was Ricardo's 1st USA movie! I think he did very well. Also, from that early beginning Cyd and Ricardo remained steadfast friends until his death. Thanks so much for writing!
I'm the poster, and want to thank you! These two made a habit of elegant performances over the years. Their friendship lasted for many years! Hope you'll enjoy this one: th-cam.com/video/Lm0m-q49aEc/w-d-xo.html Best wishes Rings Akhaten! varadero
They're certainly both stunning people. I don't see them practicing this for hours together - maybe a couple hours but most of the dancing looks independent.
Wow! I came here because I searched Cyd Charisse after seeing her on Murder She Wrote and (rightfully) believing she was a dancer. But I had no idea Ricardo Montalban could dance! I always enjoyed looking at him and listening to that lovely accent!
Hi Angela, I'm the poster and a big fan of both these beautiful, talented people! Think I have a few others, but here's one that's really over the top: th-cam.com/video/MphSSn5iFfQ/w-d-xo.html Hope you like it. You may have to copy and paste the link. Best wishes and thanks, varadero
Wow varadero1839! Thank you for sharing that beautiful piece of magic! They're both dancing very hard and even with some gymnastic qualities, but they do it gracefully, without breaking a sweat or breathing hard. Amazing!
And I thought I’ve seen everything on screen with Cyd Charisse! I certainly haven’t seen Ricardo Montalban so young. How I’ve enjoyed (enjoying!) this dance number - I can watch Cyd dance all day. She is one of the most sensational and elegant dancer’s to have come out of Hollywood. What a handsome couple, there is certainly chemistry between them Did they dance together on screen again? varadero1839 thank you very much for this priceless upload - you are a gem.
+Olivia Fontaine I was so impressed by your message that I thought I'd replied, but I can't find any evidence! I'm the 1st to admit when I make a mistake. Here the mistake is not thanking you for your great message. I'm now reading that you complimented me 2X! Wow! I'm really honored. I've so many more uploads with these 2 best friends; with each other that is. There used to be a clip here on YT that showed Cyd pushing Ricardo in his wheelchair to receive an award. Guess in Hollywood it's unique for 2 beautiful people, dancing and making love together, not to fall in love! Both were happily married to others, but I suspect you know that. So grateful to hear from you! Please keep in touch! Best regards, varadero
@@varadero1839 Ricky, as his friends, including my ex called him, was NOT a trained dancer. You'd never know it from this clip. I saw him interviewed, and he said he couldn't dance, but he would always give it "flair." All the actresses he worked with, especially Cyd, loved him.
I posted this and I'm glad you liked it! I'm a big Ricardo fan, and I've posted many of his acting, and dance videos with Cyd. Here's another: th-cam.com/video/MphSSn5iFfQ/w-d-xo.html
No need to thank me. I am just following your lead and exploring why someone would have called her exotic. If anything thank you for being open minded and kind enough to consider my opinions. Yes, I know that we have lost Montalban. I was watching his old Cordoba car commercial as it is a silly nostalgic memory I have of him and decided to watch a few of his dance clips. I'll be honest, it is not something I usually go for; however, no on can deny the talent of this couple. Good stuff!
Gawd, Ricardo is a great dancer! My dad, Frank Veloz, said so of his friend, Ricardo Montalban, whom ALSO he said was "the strongest man in Hollywood" My dad coached him in tango for another film, but NOT for this film, which seems to indicate Ricardo had years of familiarity with flamenco or Pasa doble, and it also seems he's had some serious jazz dancing training. What do those Jazz and ballet folks call that step -- a double saut de Basque, but I know I ain't spelling it right. When I first heard it I thought it was double soda box, lol. Dang, WHAT a great talent. And, of course, Cyd Charisse was the ultimate female dancer/actress EVER, IMHO. My close contenders for best and most exquisite and most SEXY- beautiful female dancer/actress/singer ever, besides the unbelievably lucious Ginger Rogers, are Ann Margaret and Joey Heatherton! humahumahumahuma, lol. Two best "frankie and Johnny" routines ever, first prize to Cyd Charisse humahumahumahuma in "Meet Me in Las Vegas" which my Dad took me to see as a little kid, but kid or no, WOW, JUST WOW! And then, as a young adult, I saw Joey Heatherton do it on "Laugh In" WOW, JUST WOW! lol! But then I think of Ann Margaret and YIKES!!!!!! Good Lord! and, well...humahumahumahuma! Where do they FIND such fabulous females? Oh, but I almost forgot -- my all time championship choreographed musical routines, both involving Cyd Charisse, of course, once one "the Band Wagon" with Fred Astaire, one in "Singing in the Rain" with Gene Kelly!!! My final HUMAHUMAHUMAHUMA! And WAIT!!!! the "Bandwagon" routine with Astaire at his most hilarious has the lagniappe of Fred doing a voice over of Raymond Chandleresque tough guy private eye speak. What a gloriously funny piece, hahahahahaha! Just amazing. THEY JUST DON'T MAKE 'EM LIKE THAT ANYMORE, movies or dancers or UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. THEY JUST DON'T! our current culture SUCKS! I grew up in the magical Raymond Chandler land in the fifties, dear, dear old West Hollywood on Alta Loma Road, one block west of La Cienega, abutting the sunset strip. Ahhhhhhhh, the memories of that colorful time and place that like Dinosaurs or nickel beers...ain't never coming back. My next door neighbor was Bruno Petaletti , his son Sylvio and I best friends, whom owned the legendary night spot, La Rue, up gravity hill on the Strip, a furlong to the port side, where Bugsy Siegal and the Black dahlia used to hold their fabled trysts.
Thank you, Varadero1839! I really appreciate your contributions. Having access to material such as this is so important to all those who cherish the work of the great stars of the past.
One good thanks deserves another! Grateful to hear from you again, and I'm happy that I've been able to contribute to visions of the past that may well disappear one day. Talent like theirs appears very infrequently. We're all the luckier to have seen them!

Hollywood today never create such beautiful scenes as these...
Ricardo and Cyd are in a cllass all by themselves. What a joy to watch these two dance. What a shame that they did'nt do more.
They actually danced together in quite a few movies - and maybe as much as she danced with Fred or Gene....
They played an important movie The Renegade Mark.
You really get the feeling they enjoy dancing together!
I din't know Ricardo Montalban danced so well...I didn't even know he danced at all! All I can say is WOW!!
In 1953 he fell off his horse while filming a western. It restricted his movements, so he turned to dramatic acting.
that makes Montalban now utterly perfect.
Ricardo Montalban was a perfect man ! Could not take my eyes off him. Great dance!
I forgot Montalban was a dancer. And, such a polished performer as well! Too often, the women are given the most interesting moves. It's great so see a performance where a man can shine, too.
I believe his wife was Loretta Young's sister. Ricardo loved her photograph and knew she was "the one". before they met.

Cyd is a great dancer but couldn't take my eyes off Ricardo. He moves were so athletic and beautiful

RIP, Ricardo Montalban & Gorgeous Cyd Charisse ! total class, the likes of which we'll not see again. ---------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
Merci du partage. Cyd forever
Man, he was insanely athletic! Want a gorgeous performance!
I'm the poster, and want to thank you! These two made a habit of elegant performances over the years. Their friendship lasted for many years! Hope you'll enjoy this one:

Thank you!
Muito obrigado! Eles nunca serão esquecidos.
bello, un tributo a ambos, excelentes !!!
Hi Angela,
I'm the poster and a big fan of both these beautiful, talented people! Think I have a few others, but here's one that's really over the top:

Hope you like it. You may have to copy and paste the link.
Best wishes and thanks,

Wow varadero1839! Thank you for sharing that beautiful piece of magic! They're both dancing very hard and even with some gymnastic qualities, but they do it gracefully, without breaking a sweat or breathing hard. Amazing!
And I thought I’ve seen everything on screen with Cyd Charisse!
I certainly haven’t seen Ricardo Montalban so young.
How I’ve enjoyed (enjoying!) this dance number - I can watch Cyd dance all day. She is one of the most sensational and elegant dancer’s to have come out of Hollywood.
What a handsome couple, there is certainly chemistry between them
Did they dance together on screen again?
varadero1839 thank you very much for this priceless upload - you are a gem.
Best regards,
varadero
Check them out in this 1946 duo th-cam.com/video/MphSSn5iFfQ/w-d-xo.html
@@varadero1839 Ricky, as his friends, including my ex called him, was NOT a trained dancer. You'd never know it from this clip. I saw him interviewed, and he said he couldn't dance, but he would always give it "flair." All the actresses he worked with, especially Cyd, loved him.
Didn’t know he was a dancer. That was great!
I posted this and I'm glad you liked it! I'm a big Ricardo fan, and I've posted many of his acting, and dance videos with Cyd. Here's another: th-cam.com/video/MphSSn5iFfQ/w-d-xo.html
If I ever get married I wanna dance this at my wedding
Arte y belleza! Sr. Montalbán que bello hombre!
Mil gracias por escribir. He puesto 5-6 con ellos.

Ojalá que le gusta!
Simply perfect and wonderful. Two great artists!!
This is perfection!
Wow! I just found this today! Uhhhhh my what dancers and dancing! Class act! 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😄😄😄😄😄😀😀😀😀🌹🌹🌹❤❤❤
Wow, you reminded it very well!! So do I!!
This was a fun movie.😊❤
That is one of the most sensual dances I've ever seen.
So much fun - beautifully done!
FANTASTIC!! Thanks for uploading this. What a duo! Most enjoyable indeed^^
ooh I like this pairing!! Cyd much better than with Gene Kelley. This was AWESOME 👏👏👏👏
yes! She was tall and she always looked too tall for Gene. Montalvan was a hunk.
I believe this is called the Paso Doble dance? very beautiful
Great duo.
Thanks for your comment! This may have been one of Ricardo's first showcase; MGM couldn't have made a wisher choice!
I never knew what a sexy guy Ricardo was. Cyd is gorgeous, as usual. Great dance team. Up there with Fred and Ginger.
Wonderful to watch!
Many Thanks! They were lovely together, in more than 1 film! Here's a link to others I've posted. Hope you like:

Thank you Varadero!❤❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹
Pura magia este baile. Maravillosos los dos.
Can't take your eyes off her...
Smoooooth as melted butter.... sigh
I'm glad you enjoyed this! Not everyone does, but that's why we can all have different opinions. Thanks so much for writing!
CYD CAN DANCE ANYTHING
Hi barbara kaufman, she could jump from ballet to jazz and so on. She never missed a beat! Certain media organizations can be so unforgiving! Here's a link to a private stash:jdm364.net/Videos/Seda2015.mp4
