In my opinion, form = function, so are just as important...but I agree with you - most of these concept designers come out with some cool looking stuff but it would ultimately provide a poor experience. For example, sure having a touch screen on the side of the of the phone is cool, but now you have no sensory feedback for the control buttons that you can't see. For displaying information, it's the wrong angle etc etc.

That would be annoying: having a touchscreen where you hold the phone.
If you look carefully at one part of the video the screen isn't on the back its just from the camera, and the display around the phone on the front and sides that it looks like you can see through it and it looks like it is on the back of the phone.
The volume button being touchscreen in this concept is rather interesting. It would be more likely to accidentally change the volume.

Apple has doomed themselves, they fell for the same trap as Call of Duty. They had a working concept, so they kept doing the same thing. That works for a while but to keep things interesting, we need change.

That's why the GS6 doesn't have a removable battery, expandable storage, and isn't waterproof. Apple is trying to prolong the iPhone and not to too drastic of jumps. Because of the low-resolution. Come on, I want them to at least have a 720p display resolution! A 1080p one will be even better! And at least increase the size to 4.3~4.5 inch.
AimlessSky The low resolution actually makes battery life better. That's why 720P phones have smaller batteries than 1080P phones yet sometimes last longer. There's less strain on the processor and GPU with less pixels to support. The low-res display is probs what keeps the iPhone having a battery longer than 7 hours. HD displays would probably last 3 hours with the iPhone's current battery size

I came here because the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha just was announced and it exactly like this only even better. I always dream of a smartphone some day like this and finally we have something we can buy in a few months. Just to think that the absolute best smartphone little over 5 years ago would have gotten you something like quad core, over 5" oled screen, and 128gb max and a 12mp max shoot and now Mi Mix Alpha has a 8 core beast, 512gb, 12gb of ram, 108mp and a near 180° over 6" oled display. If you told me this was the best smartphone you can back in 5 years old, I would have called bluff honest. Can't wait for the next decade will show for us
I still dont think its the best smartphone today tbh it's cool but in real world I'd rather have a note 10 plus and it's easier to put a case on.
