I’m also learning Dutch so I can carry a basic Dutch conversation and don’t feel like an outcast there (knowing that Dutch ppl will likely switch back to English at some point of the conversation 😅). They wrote Broodje under Frikandel, so i think it should have been a Frikandelbroodje, the one with puff pastry! And the other way around it would have been a real Broodje Frikandel (met frietsaus 🤤), also typical Dutch! ✌🏻
Droge worst is not the only thing in Groningen with too much cloves. People seem to be used to it here, I didn't grow up here and I don't like it. Drentse and Tukkerse droge worst are also different and in the Achterhoek there is metworst which is a bit less dry/more fatty I guess.

Great video. Surely I can't be the only one who kept waiting for Sashimi to turn around and complain "why don't they give ME any lines?" but that's a nice shout out / love letter to Kara and Nate. They could use a bit of love right now. Actually we have loved any collaborations with other YTers. You play nice together! But it's fascinating that now that you've 'settled' quite a bit... learned the language... gotten your residence (fingers crossed) you still approach things with a great sense of discovery. Keep it going!
Never had Friese droogworst, i'm assuming thats the one that tastes like clove? We do have enough dried sausages and cold meats to fill an entire video with tbh. Could even do a "dutch tapas" with an assortment of cheese cubes, rolled up cold cuts (all the cervelaat variations...and our chorizo and salami), leverworst slices, pickles, silver onions and amsterdam onions, a packet of crackers, maybe even some pieces of that cheap garlic bread baguette for in the oven. Save the rest for a series binge night or a picknick when the weather finally stops being confused. :') And if you want to be a true droogworst enjoyer, all the good ones have little pieces of string or clips holding it together...hang those somewhere where they can get a few hours of direct sunlight per day. ;) (even after they have been cut, with a clean knife ofcourse)
Ever tried Drentse droge worst? This one is nice, not too fancy and down to Earth, like the people in Drenthe are. Btw, last weekend a part of my living room smelt of clove. I had to euthanise one of my silvertip tetras (he had been having issues and was showing clear signs of dropsy) and clove oil is a practical agent for it. It makes fish go to sleep and an overdose makes sure they don't wake up. I used an aroma therapy product I purchased at Holland & Barret's so the poor thing went out in a little wellness bath. Clove is not my favourite spice though. I like garlic and red pepper.

Sadly you missed out on the best type of droge worst from the North: Drentse kosterworst. You can find the Huls ones in supermarkets, but make sure to get the Huls Gekookte Drentse kosterworst (2 smaller ones, slightly firmer) and not the softer bigger one in a thick plastic bag. Ideally you let it dry a bit more before consuming, the firmer the better :)

Or with some augurken wrapped in boterhamworst or quartered gekookte ei wrapped in rookvlees.

Like kipsaté and hutspot, it's inspired by dishes from other countries, but has become a typically Dutch dish. And a *broodje* carpaccio? That's the Dutchest thing in the world.
Hot dogs are generally smoked and have a casing right? Big differences compared to the frikandel. Also, hot dogs are mostly made with pork, frikandellen with 'kipseperatorvlees'.

Rosbief actually isn't horse meat, it is beef. It originates from the English words 'roast beef'. I can see why you think that it is horse meat, as the dutch word Ros is a synonym for Paard (=horse). Corned beef is also not made from corn 😉

Dutch drop is not to chew but to suck on it. Really. Also some of the hard candies... Suck it! Do not bite it! Nates "oliebol" is really a Berliner bol.

Americans can't seem to grasp that concept. they try to chew the hardest sweets..there should be some common sense hitting in.. this is hard to chew.. it is meant to last while slowly melting in the mouth.. Fun fact, as kids me and my pals would bite our chewers, abck in the mouth in to a honey drop.. and on the count of three open our mouth as fast as possible.. I pulled out fillings doing that, hahaha!! Moral of the story, sweets aren't made to chew... Mentos and chewing gum are made for that..the rest isn't to chew...but to melt sloooooowly
