Vance and Hines Twin Slash Staggered Install on Yamaha Stryker

  • This is a no BS, quick tutorial on how to install the Vance and Hines Twin Slash Staggered exhaust system. BEFORE & AFTER test at the end of the video.
    The installation was done on a 2015 Yamaha Stryker, and shows just how easy it is to get these exhausts fitted.
    FYI - We weren't that pedantic so we didn't follow all the instructions, like:
    Lowering the radiator to get better access to the front exhaust port nuts, or
    Laying the black heat shields on carpet when attaching to the head pipe assemblies to protect the finish, and applying 'anti-seize' to the 02 sensor when attaching to the new pipe.
    We would definitely recommend doing this to be on the safe side!

    for anyone installing this exhaust just be mindful to check for leaks at the exhaust port where it meets the exhaust flange. I followed the vance and hines instructions which state to tighten the flange last but it would not create a good seal if done that way. I had to loosen the rest of the exhaust and tighten down the flange first to create a good seal then tighten the rest down. only had to do this for the shorter exhaust the other sealed fine.

    Hi, thank you very much for the installation video. Its very helpful, I have done the installation of V&H exhaust pipes by following your video. I have a difficulty in reconnecting the sensor to the jack. The harness length seems short and it doesn't reach the jack to which it has to be connected. Any suggestions, pls?

    • @mephisto420
      @mephisto420  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the positive feedback. You've probably worked this issue out by now, however I vaguely recall having to reroute the cable (the end connected to the bike) in order for both ends to reach. It should be doable if it's the same bike. If not, you might need to rig up a longer cable.

    man that sounds good. im stuck between a stryker and a vstar 1300, and i love the way your bike sounds with the new exhaust. where did you get yours from and how much did it run you. also, what did you use to wipe off the pipes before you started, brake cleaner? thanks for the video, looking forward to other mods

    • @mephisto420
      @mephisto420  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Chanona I personally prefer the Stryker style - more lean and mean! The pipes were easy to clean and just needed a damp cloth to wipe off any marks. I would definitely stay away from any harsh chemicals like brake cleaner. The bike and pipes were all purchased from a large retailer in Australia (you can see the name on the plates).

    Great video, thanks for the info. Quick question. Does the exhaust come with gaskets for the head? I have about 1200 miles not sure if mine should be reused or not. And is there any power commander that you would recommend? Thanks again.

    • @mephisto420
      @mephisto420  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The package didn't come with new gaskets, though the price for a couple of official Yamaha ones are about 10 bucks each. I wouldn't worry with such low miles. I didn't install a power commander, but I hear the V&H is a good bet. I would recommend getting one, or at least a good tune once the pipes are installed.

  • @markseek5729

  • @mvol5973
    @mvol5973 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you just swap the pipes and be done or do you have to tune anything on the motor or add a power commander after doing this? Buying a Stryker next year and one of the first things will be to swap the exhaust, wondering what I'll be getting into with this mod.

    • @mephisto420
      @mephisto420  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mvol5973 you don't need to (we didn't), but the bike can become jerky in the throttle response. A professional tune or power commander is recommended for the best results.

  • @latin_13

    • @mephisto420
      @mephisto420  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jordon Walter No I didn't, though my bike now runs fairly rich. I think it would be a good idea to install one, or at least get your bike tuned. That's probably where the issue is.

    • @mephisto420

      I did not tune, but I would recommend a getting one done anyway. My bike definitely has more power, but at the cost of reduced/jerky throttle response. V&H make a Throttle Pack add-on to eliminate this problem.
