My parents took me on holiday to Bridlington regularly from Doncaster. Now, by a quirk of fate I live there and it’s a wonderful place, out of the way, bustling in summer, great beaches and a fabulous chalk headland with caves and cliffs and seabirds and seals. I’m really happy here.

Wow this brings back memories as a child. Those Red Sea mines on the harbour I thought after all these years I had imagined them! Catching small crabs on the break waters etc. thanks for the memories.

@@WalkWithMeTim if I remember correctly those red sea mines were converted into charity collecting mines for the life boats? As a child of the 50's you could walk all the way down the fishing boat harbour wall, no H&S issues back then. There was a row boat ferry from there to over to the pleasure steamers tie ups. It saved the long walk round the harbour, the roads and pavements jammed with trippers in the heydays. Happy, happy days. My father was ex RN and his ashes were scattered in the North Bay by us. The pleasure steamers at the time were the Yorkshire Man and the Bridlington Belle. Cheers DougT

We used to go to brid every year for a holiday. That land train station at the start used to be a mini boating lake. With loads of little 2 person boats, use to love going on that.

Enjoyed this walk around Bridlington which I do about 3 or 4 times a year. The only mistake you made was when you said if you walk along the cliffs you'll come to Robin Hood's bay and then Scarborough. The next resort is Filey and then Scarborough and You'll find Robin Hood's Bay on the way from Scarborough to Whitby. One of the best place to have Fish and chips is Busy Bees which is across the road from the Spa and in town. The best place for a nice view of the bay and the best scones can be found at the Spa Complex Cafe. Being going to Bridlington since I was 4 years old and is the best resort on the East Yorkshire coast. The old town of Bridlington in a nice place to walk around. Alway go and see the Spa Theatre pantomime which sells the cheapest theatre programmes for a professional show. Will be back in Brid at Easter, it only 45 minutes on the train from Hull

When I was a kid, Victoria Terrace used to have seating areas, gardens and a small "boating pool" for sailing model boats. No idea why they decided to fill it all in and make it what it is today.

Tim another great stream. I think you have just shown me the best Seaside in the UK. I have never been it looks lovely and clean, even the seafront railings are lovely and clean painted white.
So many seaside seafront railings are crumbling or rusty in many seasides.
I have never seen so many Fish and Chip shops in one place.
Look forward to your next stream 👍🏻👍🏻😁

Nice to see a sunny Bridlington. I'll be there for the first time this year, this coming weekend. Like my 2nd home as we have a caravan there. Personally would recommend Busy Bees for the fish n chips - they have more than one restaurant - but can recommend the one on chapel street. they have a 1940s event in June time in Old Town too. i can also recommend the views from the Spa Cafe - lovely coffee and gorgeous scones .......... Plenty of donuts around in the harbour also, if Gabby came with you !!

My Mum lives at the end of those cliffes you can see fro the north beach Bempton where the puffins go. We stayed in the premier inn recently ( Januaury and last December) it was only £35 a night for a double room, don't know why but prices have jumped massivley since. Bridlington is where i grew up 😊Busy bees chip shop right where you had yours across the road are the best and always fresh too.

Thanks for this. Incase you didn't know you can find rock crystal on the North Beach. Just look among the stones. Me and my grandkids have found some big peices over the decades we've been going there. No crystals on the south Beach cos they come from the south cliff ( told by an old bloke years ago). Thanks again.

Not been to Brid for a couple of years - for the obvious reasons - but its a British seaside classic if anyone is in the area I'd urge them to visit - in the height of summer Bridlington - fish and chips and ice cream - a grand day out and it is like Whitby - so many fish and chip shops and never found a bad one myself I suspect because like Whitby if you try and sell rubbish fish and chips you won't be open for long.

With regards to the best chippy in Bridlington, I know it's not in the town centre but we love Gabby's in the Old Town as it's the only chippie (we know of) which serves vegetarian chips. Lots of the other chippies cook in animal oil/fat. If you know of anymore please let me know, but we do love Gabby's.

North of there is Flamborough Head and sone stately home, I’m sure the land train used to go as far as there, I remember several trips up there and back.

At the start of your tour ,adjacent to the Spa theatre used to be a boating lake with a miniature railway, now concreted over.,the sun loungers on the prom and the leisure centre appeared to have a revamp. BTW how do you always get a lovely day wherever you go?

Personally I find the area around the funfair too noisy and crowded for me but I do like to park at Sewerby Hall then walk right along to South Beach and back through the town. Plus you also have the amazing gardens and Bondville Model Village next to Sewerby.
I've never tried fish and chips in Brldlington yet (I know!) but think I might give Allen's or Busy Bee a go when I'm there in a few months.

Our favourite place for fish and chips are right up at the far end of the North beach right near lime know on lane.
The best place we have eaten out in Bridlington is Buffalo's, near the leisure centre.

Best, yes the actual best, chippy in Brid? North Beach fisheries at the far end of North Marine Drive, 9 steps down to the North Bay beach. Best sweet shop? John Bull, harbour end of the town. Best Best ice cream? Notrianni's, across the road from John Bull.
