Great video again, young sir! Couldn't help noticing how much superior the carriages are to those on our local narrow gauge, the Romney, Hythe &Dymchurch. On to Part 2!
Nice one mate! Like you said, when you factor in the Ffestiniog railway price alone, it’s pretty good value. The observation car is lovely. When I did this I bought an upgrade for about £8 if I remember and they serve some very decent beers onboard too 👍
Ah well. If there's access to beers I may pay a bit extra! Thanks, as ever, for the support and kind words. Btw, part 2 is out on Monday and very briefly at the end features a wave from someone you may recognise! 👍
Part 2 is on target to come out on Monday. As for the placenames, I suspect a few Welsh people will be grinding their teeth, but I gave it a go! Thanks, as ever 👍
Another great video. We really enjoy that you take the time to share extra views of various stations, as well as information on the old station masters houses and switch boxes. Some of the architecture is incredible. Have a great week! -- Sandi & Greg H. (Canada)
Thank you so much. I promise to continue that theme, as I really like architecture in general and station/railway architecture in particular! Lovely to hear that a couple of people in Canada are enjoying my videos. The only bit of Canada I have visited was a week in Vancouver, so I'd love to return to see even more. I did enjoy DownieLive's series when he crossed Canada from East to West. Very evocative of such a beautiful country! Best wishes from Devon, UK
@@JohnnyHooverTravels We've been to BC a few times but to Kelowna (wine country) rather than Vancouver. Due to my work, I used to visit Alberta annually and spend time in the Rockies. A bucket list item is a train trip through the mountains. One day. We also watch Downie Live. The cross Canada trip was terrific. I'm not sure we'll ever manage it ourselves as the cost of travel by train in Canada, especially on that grand scale, is very expensive. Still, fun to experience it through his channel. Have a great week!
Can't wait for part2. I want to see how you got back. When I went to BF to catch the train I had just missed it so I went for fish and chips instead, just opposite the Post Office.
I suspect Fish and Chips might not be a bad option at BF. The time I was there, I could have done coffee and cake! Just editing up Part 2. So hope to have it out on Monday 👍
Well done on the 2000 subs!. I will have to do this journey. Third class looks like business class to me. Have been trying to get information on Gerald of Wales--the train service that is. Hard going!
Thanks Colin! This ticket would fit nicely in after a ride on the Gerald (which is suppose is what I did!). It sure is a cheap way of getting a ride on the Ffestiniog without forking out too much money. And you get an awful lot more scenic trains thrown in too! (watch out for Part 2) wrt to the Gerald, I think I did reply to someone about the train times that were Gerald services, but basically use Real Time Trains to look at which services are pathed Cardiff/Holyhead for a locomotive and 4 coaches. They also run the MK4s Cardiff/Manchester now so you can also get that 1st class experience on that route too. I really appreciate the support. Yes 2000 was not a number that was in my sights this time last year. Oh and I've also clicked over with 250,000 total views. Onward, onward!
Lovely video, lots of useful tips from you and the comments section. I’d love to know which side of the train on the various journeys have the best views. Thanks
Lovely video, we did both Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways when we stayed at Llanbedr in 2019. Shame you had to put up with a 150, I'm doing Chester-Holyhead next week and hoping for at least a 158. Keep up the good work.
Haha yes. I'm OK with a 150 for a couple of hours, but I would feel somewhat cheated if I'd been on it all the way from Cardiff to Holyhead! Yes, hopefully you should get a 158, but maybe my 150 will be back round to delight you! Thanks for watching and commenting - Part 2 comes out on Monday!
@@JohnnyHooverTravels Forgot to mention - trust it was Purple Moose beer. Won't be able to watch Part 2 until later in the week as it's on to Dublin from Holyhead!
@@JohnnyHooverTravels Thanks, fortunately I was saved from a 150 by a late running Avanti - 10 coaches much better than 2! Didn't go much on the 197 from Crewe to Chester, hard seats like the 195s.
Superb video. I did the trip a couple of months after you but my video isn’t as good as yours. One slight trick you might find useful if you do it again, the round robin can be upgraded to first class for £10 (book in advance pay on the day).
Ooooh! Steam! Yes please! Thanks for sharing, lovely video as always.
Haha! Yes, a bit of steam! Thanks for watching. Part 2 will be out soon n Monday 👍
That was excellent. Thanks.

Wow - bargain! That was such a nice relaxing trip, thank you. Eagerly anticipate part 2 in due course :D

North Wales line: north side
Ffestiniog: east side - both sides great
Cambrian coast: west side
There you go 👍

Very informative videos but why did you need to take a bus from llandudno
Thank you 👍
It was a rail replacement bus as I think the line was closed for maintenance.
I am sure rail enthusiasts would find Rhyl station to be a surRhyl place.
This channel is here for puns like that! 😁
