After a very difficult first day teaching my 7 year old (on grass and holding on for him), I felt he would never learn. After watching this and using your tips and using an athletics track, on day two - it’s as if he’s been riding for years! Within 10 minutes he was off independently, thank you so much for making this!

Amazing tips, helped me to teach my 8 years old daughter to ride a bike within 3 hours today. From not being able to keep her ballance for a second to being able to ride on her own for around 1 minute. Obviously a lot of practice is still needed, but I didn't expect that within 3 hours I would be able to let her go and see her ride on her own. Thanks a lot! ❤

This is LEGIT! I did this with my 5yr old son yesterday, and he was riding by himself after 2 15min sessions. Today he biked a half mile to our local park without stopping.
He had been riding a balance bike for about 2 years and had only rode with training wheels a few times.

I learned to ride about 5 y old. My dad pushed the bike to get going, i started to gain speed in gently sloping farm road, didnt know how to brake but the speed was already slowing so I just falled offed. Fast forward 30 something years the exhilarating feeling is there and still learning new things about riding your bike.

Fantastic advice! I had been trying to teach my 8 year old for the longest time without success. But after watching this video I was able to teach my kid in a couple of sessions. I think the three main aspects were how to steer the child, learning to brake while walking the bike, and the turning body mechanics. These 3 elements were the key for her to acquire confidence and control.

Thanks to this video I’ve learned to explain why not start with stabilizers: “they have first to unlearn tricycle” Because they learn a different thing, not an exact simulation of bicycle, this is the key point.

Personally I can't imagine life without bicycles and motorcycles. I loved it so much that I leant to ride from very early age with no trainer wheels, on a bicycle that was too big for me, because that's what there was in our house Now 65 years later I have many bicycles and motorcycles which I repair and collect, and I use all of them, some of which are crazy fast bicycles . thank you for you video.

but that (for me) was a couple of decades ago, now they have different tools to learn, and training wheels are not designed to hold anything heavier than a 3 year old kid, so if your kid is bigger, it will be better to just buy a normal bike, remove the drivetrain, let him get the balancing thing and then install the drive train and teach him to ride like she said on the video

@Marco Deo I understand but I didn’t learn till I was 10 years old I never wanted to learn and had thought I would never learn. but once forced to try by realities eventually got the hang of it and I LOVED it and now I ride BMX and I’m pretty good at it I got a good bike and can do a few tricks at the skate park. And cycling is a life skill and can actually led to very fun career choices. I went from NEVER even wanting to think about riding bikes to it being on of my absolute favorite things to do.

Our kids used a balance bike for a long time and are pretty good at balancing. Now my husband is convinced they need training wheels to learn how to pedal, I think it would be going backwards because they’d unlearn how to balance.

It is asking a lot to get a child to master balance, pedaling, and braking all at once. To that end there are coasting bikes out there that do not have pedals, only foot pegs, allowing beginners to concentrate on balance, and stopping. Studies have shown the child will learn to ride faster on these kinds of coasting bikes.

Great video BikeRadar teaching my 4 year old not touched training wheels. When to Queen Elizabeth country park for there demo day she's got the basics down, Seemed to struggle keeping her eyes up and was looking down at what her feet were doing...

Tips: Right size for your bike. Too high will prevent you from getting grip on the handles, and too low will prevent you from turning properly.
Face at the front, you will know your surroundings and have better balance. Looking down will lose your balance.

Update : i taught my son to ride who has never road a bike before in 4 hours.
First things first i removed the peddles, it Works wonders. Next i got him use to using the hand brakes by letting him glide and apply the safety brake. Ince he had balance and braking down pack the rest was easy. Added rhe peddles and getting him started was easier

Should really teach them to start the bike without already being in the seat.

I just want to personally thank you for this amazing video. My wife & I have been so frustrated teaching our son how to ride a bike for many months. I watched this video yesterday then I applied what I learned today. In 1 hour, my son & I were cheering because he finally learned to ride a bike without training wheels. Thanks again!

Before I could ride a motorcycle as an adult. I would ride pillion behind my brother. It was a scary experience. Like how much more the bike leaned into the corner. How much engine braking my brother did. What entry speed he could carry into a corner. Both my kids rode behind me on my bicycle. And they had balance bikes. My daughter wasn't even 3 when she first rode a bicycle. My son 3 and a half. Getting the seat height is not easy. When say they could ride. They still had to get a push start and they used their feet as brakes. My daughter at 5 can mostly self start, can control her decent with hand brakes and emergency brake. I remember watching this video before we purchased any ride on toys. We had a tricycle and it hung in the garage most of the time. Both still ride their balance bikes every now and again. Then apply what they learn to the bicycle. The other key thing is the weight of the bicycle. First attempt was with a heavy price friendly bicycle. That was not working. Then we bought a Woom bicycle. Like magic. And easy on the parents backs too. We have two kids that can ride bicycles because of this video. I am grateful.

Every single thing the lady tells is what I did. My son was able to ride the pedal bike on his very first visit to the park. He had a balance bike to practice on for one day before that though.
