I honestly think you guys are one of the most important channels on TH-cam. So much content on TH-cam seems to propagate cultural tension. You guys are helping to promote cross-cultural dialogue using a medium that all of humanity can relate to; music. Love the honest reviews and how you guys are helping to create a counter-culture of "Free Thinkers". Maybe one day we'll get a nationally syndicated radio show....or we'll see George and Ryan hosting the Grammy's.
The world could use a lot more free thinkers. I feel like I went through all the music phases and never stopped liking any of it. So now I just love all these different genres. Why restrict yourself to liking one thing?
Wow, wow...I am a former US Army Ranger who was severely wounded and lives with the scars internally and externally. I have PTSD and this song brought tears to my eyes, oh my god.
The old me would have skipped over this video since it wasn’t a rap or r&b reaction.. however the Chris Stapleton reaction you guys did to Tennessee whisky made me realize it was at least possible for me to like songs from another genre like that.. SALUTE!
I was a young former metalhead who was close minded about music too until I heard Immortal Technique I realized that are good things in other genres! I'm now a good musichead 😂😂
I felt like the " whistler" was who he was in war. Some soilder gets nicknames for things they do. They have to detach. When he says " step aside, step aside..let the whistler through" powerful. Brilliant brilliant song
From A Vet: Thank you guys for the respect. This song is like looking in a mirror for me and to feel like no one can begin to understand is incredibly difficult. Folks like yall are proof that those thoughts are just lies from the devil, even if you don't understand you want to and that is what matters. I hope you never do understand though because I don't wish this on anybody. Keep up the good work guys.
We-us who have not been there, cannot understand but we can care that you suffer for us, who enjoy freedom, freedom that you may not feel! Pray you find freedom for your own soul!! ❤️
Hey guys, veteran here, also PTSD patient. Love this song, love the reaction, even more, love the way you guys broke down the content of the song. It’s a very dark but honest view of how the world of PTSD works. More conversations containing honesty and perspective is exactly what we need so thank you for contributing to that.
Thank you, Jake S., for your service. Thank you, Lost in Vegas, for playing this and giving your insightful comments. Had never heard him or this song, but spend many nights listening to new music. Now, I am sitting here crying in a way I don't usually allow myself to do. My husband was a Vietnam vet who suffered for years and years from PTSD. He never received the help he needed, but I'm not sure it would have made any difference. He came home ashamed to let people know he had fought in Vietnam and then felt guilty that he had made it back at all when so many friends didn't. In 2005, he gave up fighting his demons, had a friend come pick me up saying this time he wasn't coming back. Dressed in camo and camo makeup, he set our barn on fire and then our house. He held off the fire departments that responded by shooting over their heads. Finally, they sent the SWAT team in and using his and my father's military .45s he yelled he needed to see Jesus and shot himself in front of the burning house. I have always used music (of all genres) to make the world seem like a better place. I had just listened to Chris Stapleton's "Sometimes I Cry" for the umpteenth time and was looking for something new. How ironic that this old hippy woman decided to see what new music you two might be reviewing and there was White Buffalo and "Whistle". Some things are just meant to be. Thank you so very much for handling it the way you did. I wish he could have heard this song just to know that someone understood.
@@terrykindley9405 Terry, I wish I had words that could make the trauma of that experience easier to deal with. It is so sad that he was so damaged by doing something so noble and for you to be left with the ravages of his pain.....I have no words. Just know that that I can almost feel what you feel. Bless you, one day at a time.
I FUCKING LOVE WHITE BUFFALO! Anyone who hasn't seen Sons of Anarchy, the music is perfect for that show and I'm so grateful I found White Buffalo from it. Also, love your reactions, my dudes
That was a good one, guys. See hw haunted his eyes are. That is what I see everyday when my son looks at me, ever since he came back from Afghanistan. So so so sad. He is good. Love the song and I love my son.
This is awesome! The White Buffalo is super underrated and I love that you guys decided to react to an artist like him, hopefully it will bring more attention to his talent.
Never heard of this artist before. What a beautifully tragic song, breath-taking performance, and wonderfully critique and analysis. Well done, gentlemen!
Thank you for giving veterans proper recognition. PTSD is a crusher in our society that should get more focus. You guys are quite impressive and give me hope for unity in our fractured country. Keep up the great work and sense of humor. It helps more than you imagine. !
I liked the video but I didn't subscribe until you publicly backed our veterans and the great comments you made. As a veteran it makes me feel good that someone has my back and appreciates the many sacrifices we have all made. God bless you both.
Yeah, his song Wish it Was True was on Punisher and it fit perfectly. Also definitely check out Sons of Anarchy because that show introduced me to him and they have quite a lot of his songs over the seasons. And well, it's just a badass show.
This is a song for a generation. His voice is haunting and his eyes show they've seen things 98% of us will never see. God Bless Him and all our military!!
I heard this one and Oh Darlin' by The White Buffalo on Sons of Anarchy and have listened to them ever since. Oh Darlin' is by far my favorite song from him.
Way more respect for you guys about what you said about veterans!!!! Pray for my dad!!! He died serving this country and I intend on going out the same way!!! Miss my dad everyday but I’m so proud of him❤️
I love this channel, I never thought I would see a White Buffalo reaction but I was wrong. If y'all are interested in that style of country you should check out Ryan Bingham- Southside of Heaven or Uncle Lucius- Keep the wolves away.
Damn, that Uncle Lucius song is great, thanks! First one is a bit too country for me, if that makes any sense, not that it's bad, kinda reminds me of Bruce Springsteen which is never a bad thing. Any other recommendations?
I really feel White Buffalo. Amazing talent. I would love to see you guys react to Jason Isbell. Another soulful Alt-Country/Americana artist. Check out 'Cover Me Up' or 'Elephant'.
I may be crazy but his guitar and vocals remind me of Ritchie Havens. Not sure if any one on here has herd of him but he was one of the most amazing performers at wood stock. And one of my favorite open string Guitarists
Thank you gentlemen for this song. I had never heard it before. I agree, that he painted an amazing picture, of what so many of our veterans struggle with. Sadly this is why so many of our vets become homeless, or struggle to interact with society. Each person deals with PTSD, in their own way, and they are NOT all violent. I am the wife of a disabled vet, with PTSD. My husband suffers from severe anxiety, and panic attacks, due to his PTSD. I am forever grateful, that mine never turned to drugs, or alcohol, and he has worked very hard to deal with his anger issues. In our case, my husband rarely leaves our home. He can go months, without stepping outside our front door. Not all are like that, but all deserve respect, and understanding. Thank you for your kind words, for our veterans.
I've just recently found you guys and I've commented a couple of times, but after hearing this song for the first time today and then your analogy of its meaning, you both killed it, so to speak! I'm a retired US Army veteran of 28 years with multiple deployments, memories I can't get rid of and feelings that won't go away. I can relate to this song and want to thank you for all your comments about veterans everywhere. I appreciate your respect and public admiration for what all of our vets do and the sacrifices them and their families make for this country. Thank you, you have all of our respect!
wow! i'm a metalhead through & through, but you just introduced me to this beautiful, haunting & extremely powerful country song, absolutely fantastic, just put it on my playlist, thankyou guys
Keith Copson I’m a huge metalhead and I’ve been loving TWB for years. You should check out all of his discography. Not every song is this way, but his song-writing is amazing and there’s melody and melody and gem after gem. Check out The Matador next.
Hello. I am also a metalhead for 40 years and i love this song too. I have heard this for the first time years ago at SOA ´ show. I love the lyrics, the voice, the intensity of the atmosphere surrounding this song. I like Come Join The Murder too. And others he performed. Cheers from France and Up The Irons 🤘🤘🤘
Question: what is it about metal that draws or speaks to you? Excuse the ignorance: it allows you to express and feel what you otherwise could not express? If it’s anger, does it not keep you in the anger lane? I am one-female-who has anger issues from trauma and only want to leave the anger behind and replace it with kindness and love. As anger hurts my soul. Asking from a sincere heart
Ryan - you hit the nail on the head. Dealing with PTSD is a daily cycle. I believe that is what he is trying to express. Your analogy to it being like Groundhog Day is perfect. I know from the inside what it's like. Some days are better than others, but there is always a shadow looming - like there is a chance that I could fall apart to my lowest level of existence - mentally and physically. You guys are doing amazing stuff for music fans. Your reactions/reviews are open-minded, honest and intelligent. Thank you for being you. Stay awesome!
Sons of anarchy introduced me to the white buffalo years ago and it was love and first sound. His voice is so deep and powerful and a lot of his songs are haunting but they are so good. Often people reference Eddie Vedder when talking about Jake Smith (the white buffalo) and while I hear the similarity, Jake is a much darker voice and musician. Its seriously good music.
I’m a metalhead, but also a big fan of The White Buffalo, so nice to see you doing a video about him. He did some songs for the TV series Son of anarchy. Like “come join the murder”. Some of his others songs I really like is “the Pilot” and “The woods”. Speaking of veterans, you should really check out your local Las Vegas band Five Finger Death Punch. They have made a number of songs about veterans and are very dedicated to that cause. Like this sound: th-cam.com/video/o_l4Ab5FRwM/w-d-xo.html Or songs like “Remember Everything” or “Gone away”.
The White Buffalo is amazing... Much respect to you guys, I love how you both appreciate good music regardless of genre and "cultural norms" (aka closed mindedness). It's awesome seeing you guys listen to new music and talk about the feeling. Music is the math of the universe and it ties us all together. Well in lads, keep up the great work and thanks for the great content. Much love to you and yours.
This was amazing. Gonna be listening to this man's discography. Dive deep into that shit. Particularly love folk music, it's a pretty universally adored genre here in Scotland. Close to our hearts. Also, respect to those who've passed in war, rest in peace. Eyedea - Even Shadows Have Shadows. You already know guys. Keep em coming!
I hope you won't mind me suggesting a few of his songs to you then. Come Join The Murder, Highwayman, Wish It Was True. Boots of Spanish Leather. He also does a nice cover of Bohemian Rhapsody (in a folk style.) Keep the music alive, brother.
I don't listen to much folk/country, but this was impressive and really surprising. You can tell that this song comes from a very, very real place. Good video guys.
Real, from the heart music can come from any genre. Just have to find it, I guess. I used to hate all forms of country until I actually picked up guitar and some friends showed me some of the better stuff.
Ik have listened to this song about 20 times now and his voice hits like a hammer every time. It is a goddamn abomination to use people up and then throw them away like broken dolls Yesterday i heard his album Darkest Darks Lightest Lights. Bloody brilliant. Thanks for another great post
i appreciate that you guys are trying to react to alot of the unknown underground kind of talents of different genres tryna spread awareness to such songs, great authenticity !
This should be one of their most watched reviews. Watching them feel the emotion in this song is amazing because it does the same thing to every single person who hears this the first time. I felt the exact same way.
Thank you for introducing me to The White Buffalo. He is telling a story beyond war but also what’s happening in America NOW for our veterans and also non-veterans. His voice makes us all think.
First off, this video is what drew me to your channel. Your reaction and examination of this song was spot on how i felt when hearing it the first time. He is very intense in concert, I got a chance to talk to him in a meet and greet type of scenario after his set and it's weird how chill he is after seeing him get in character rinsing some of his darker songs. I don't know if anyone already commented on this, but the album ( shadows Greys and evil ways) is a concept album telling the story of the events leading up to a man's decision to enlist, his time serving, and adapting to normal life again. Its really worth a listen as are his other albums. I highly recommend his work. Also, keep up the the logic reactions. Absolutely one of the best rappers out there.
I like that no country for old men comparison you made and this guy's vocals are crazy. If y'all want a little more bluegrass feel try Through The Valley by Shawn James & The Shapeshifters
Funnily enough I was slightly negative toward it the first time. When it ended, I was like wtf was that? Because it's such a deconstruction of what we've come to expect from movies. This was my second watch and I just appreciated it so much more. It's brilliant.
Helgard Werner I loved it the first time I watched it. I always find myself anticipating the coin toss scene with the old man you can literally feel that man shit himself lol
Hey guys I doubt you read this but from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for doing this song. I am a veteran and I had never heard this song before. It brought me to tears and I wanna thank you 1 for your appreciation for the men and women who fight for this country. And 2,on a more personal note, for showing this song I had never heard it before.
First time I heard the white buffalo was on the summit of pikes peak. I was hiking up and he was walking down the trail carrying a guitar case. It was the most rock star thing I've ever witnessed. Dude's voice is spectacular.
I love y'alls channel, I like how you try new things, its inspired me to listen to stuff more out of my comfort zone and I've recently become a fan of Folk Rock because of it, so thanks!
If you liked this, specifically his voice, you should do his song "Come Join The Murder", which was featured on Sons of Anarchy. Don't use the video that's full of Sons of Anarchy spoiler scenes though.
Playlist. His voice is beautiful. Good message. Lost a lot of friends to suicide after they separated. It's a difficult transition back into the civilian world. Grateful everyday to have a successful life post military. Not everybody can make it. You're thinking of Javier Bardem George and yes he is the best at those roles! That movie was crazy! Love folk music so this is right up my alley. Please listen to *Kaleo*! They have a similar sound (whistle and all) but less country and more classic RnR and from Iceland! BEST live show ever.
I just seen The White Buffalo in concert last night. He played this small bar called The Grog Shop in Cleveland. It was my first time seeing him live and let me tell you...his voice is just as haunting and powerful in person. His voice is so deep, whenever he would just speak into the mic in his regular voice, I could feel the bass in my chest. He is insanely gifted. The best whistle and the best voice I've ever heard live. Just insane power and emotion in every lyric, in every note.
Thank you guys for putting the struggle of us veterans out there and speaking on it. I served from 2000 to 2008. I've been that guy on the streets lost. It means more than you know to see y'all giving us love. You are the folks we are proud to defend. Hooyah, I would have gladly given my life for all but especially you guys.
Wow that was intense in a good way. I liked how he addressed the topic of the song in the beginning about ptsd. Just everything about this song makes you feel how crazy it must be for someone with those reaccuring thought process must be going through. Like his voice sounded so good you can even feel the emotion of something like trembling pain of having to think about such things. Wonderful song from White Buffalo and great reaction Lost In Vegas.
I actually loved the message and execution of this song. We need to treat our soldiers better, we destroy their ability to be calm, and then when they get back, we destroy their ability to actually return back to normal.
Kyle Pickus ticks and leeches!!!! Epic legendary drumming. Or aenima for some of the best lyrics ever written and an epic, end of days groove... lateraulus might be a bit much
White buffalo is my favorite artist. Also supper chill dude. Met him at a concert back like 3 years ago and he hung out with me and my friends for like 5 minutes just chilling and talking
Holy shit, I'm so stoked you guys found The White Buffalo! He is absolutely one of my favorite artists of the modern era. He's 100% the best artist in his field right now. If you ever get the chance to see him live, take it. His live show is off the charts.
Favorite artist ever! Outstanding! Plenty of other wondrous songs by The 'Exceptional' White Buffalo. Dude! Dude! Can y'all please do something, anything, William Elliot Whitmore!!! Please! Preferably 'Who stole the soul'! Or anything else! Please! PLEASE! 😁
Geeeeshhh. That's some painful vibrato in his voice man. Love somebody that can move you like this by using your voice as instrumentation. This guy looks like he could get down with some hardcore metal too, haha. As always, requesting TesseracT's Acceptance or Deception.
It’s so rare to see a reaction to White Buffalo- one of my favorites. You should really listen to Carnage. It’s a song that tells a grim story juxtaposed against a somewhat jaunty tune but sung with great passion. Thanks for your reaction.
I've seen The White Buffalo in concert 3 times already. Not nearly enough!! His concerts are full of energy and his music hits every emotion! Jake is very down to earth and genuine. Makes time for his fans after his shows! A White Buffalo fan forever!! 🎶👍🎶
Great Great musician with a great reaction by you guys thank you for doing this, and i also suggest the matador by the white buffalo another good song with a dark feeling. I thank Sons of anarchy for my introduction to this great music
Yep, Sons of Anarchy was also my introduction to him, and he's probably one of my favourites now. Great music in that show. Also introduced me to The Black Keys and Noah Gunderson, etc.
The whistling reminded me of old western films. I could see the gunslingers counting the paces as they walked away from each other, ready to turn, hands hovering over their holstered guns.
YOUR WELCOME !!!!! THANK YOU FOR THE REACTION! I'm glad someone else can see his genius !
Thanks for introducing me to this song. Been listening to The White Buffalo for years but somehow missed this song.
One of his best songs, I was trying to get them to react to this or Wish It Was True
Or love song #1, but I think they made the best choice.
Without a doubt
Went to a bar and played this shit on the juke. Fuck yes, they best like this or you get wrecked.

There are great songs and artists in EVERY genre.
lol the whistle was hard AF.......I mean, how they got that in one take is a testimony to his ability as a performer.
I felt like the " whistler" was who he was in war. Some soilder gets nicknames for things they do. They have to detach. When he says " step aside, step aside..let the whistler through" powerful. Brilliant brilliant song

Yooo yes!!
Came back after 8 months to say thanks man love this song now

I can assure you he hasn't made a bad song yet!
He's one of those very rare artists that I honestly believe is incapable of creating a bad song.
OMG!!! I love this artist! So pumped you guys reacted to it!
I'm surprised that I've liked some of these country suggestions. Also they should have this song on The Punisher at some point
Vee I they had wish it were true by white buffalo in the scene where frank kills all the soldiers
it was on Sons of Anarchy
Yeah, his song Wish it Was True was on Punisher and it fit perfectly. Also definitely check out Sons of Anarchy because that show introduced me to him and they have quite a lot of his songs over the seasons. And well, it's just a badass show.
Yep he's in a scene on Punisher and a couple in Sons of Anarchy. He's also on the OST of Californication
Vee I same here. I don’t listen to country but this was decent and that Chris Stapleton song had some soul.

Love the white Buffalo. You guys should try Nose on the Grindstone by Tyler Childers. A great up and coming country artist
Incredible Song Writing...Hats of to the Artist for painting this amazing picture.
El Rey this song was on SOA too, in the 5th season
Same here man, I’m a metalhead but I also like The White Buffalo
El Rey ay metalhead as well bud. Love the white buffalo
His voice gets inside your head. So beautiful, and touching.
Wow I never heard of this guy, but damn the goose bumps are real!
Oh Darlin' is one the best The White Buffalo songs, I would love to see a reaction to that too!
George, you are so right. This is so haunting, beautiful and troubling at the same time. It made me cry! That voice....my God.
Ik have listened to this song about 20 times now and his voice hits like a hammer every time. It is a goddamn abomination to use people up and then throw them away like broken dolls
Yesterday i heard his album Darkest Darks Lightest Lights. Bloody brilliant.
Thanks for another great post
i appreciate that you guys are trying to react to alot of the unknown underground kind of talents of different genres tryna spread awareness to such songs, great authenticity !
Do 'The Dead South' with "In Hell I'll be in good company" :D
SiC so good!!!
SiC Yas!!!!
I love Dead South
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Or Gunslinger's Glory!
This should be one of their most watched reviews. Watching them feel the emotion in this song is amazing because it does the same thing to every single person who hears this the first time. I felt the exact same way.
Heard The White Buffalo for the first time in SoA and instantly fell in love with his music. Instantly bought ALL his albums. Not a bad song in there.
Obligatory request for Tool: Vicarious, The Pot, Stinkfist
TOOL - Jambi, right in two, Lateralus, the pot, parabola
"No Country For Old Men"
Actor - Javier Bardem
Character - Anton Chigurh
Literally watched No Country for Old Men like two days ago haha.
Helgard Werner yeah it's a bad ass movie I try to watch it at least once a year along with Apocalypto
Haha yeah that is a brilliant scene. Great written dialogue and performances from both actors.
Come Join The Murder - The White Buffalo + The Forest Rangers
Blacksheep TV I cried first time I heared it because of sons of anarchy
COME JOIINNN THE MURDER. COME FLYYYY WITH BLACK
Seth B Rest is Peace Jax Teller.
SOA
Such an epic song!
I got goosebumps at the same moment! The angst in his voice damn!
Jeanie H me too.
Bastard Son is good as well
Honestly...I cried when I heard this song. I have a hard time listening to it. You guys have it right. Disturbing and Beautiful
Great breakdown of a complex topic and deceptively simple song. Heavy stuff.
I discovered this song on Sons of Anarchy, and I instantly fell in love with it. Brilliant song.
Night Knight I knew I heard it before . thanks
Wow another hidden gem . Defiantly going on playlist.
www.d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.com/
Alex Reid No, you misunderstood. He is defying his dislike of the country music genre by putting a country song on his playlist haha!
First time I heard the white buffalo was on the summit of pikes peak. I was hiking up and he was walking down the trail carrying a guitar case. It was the most rock star thing I've ever witnessed. Dude's voice is spectacular.
I love this song I discovered The White Buffalo thanks to Sons Of Anarchy, and I really like your analysis thanks
White Buffalo features quite a lot on the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack throughout the series. I found him through that. Terrific artist.
For some more country I would suggest Colter Wall - Kate Mccannon
Devil wears a suit and tie is pretty great too!
Sleeping on the blacktop too
Me and big Dave
Daniel Patterson “ I put three rounds in Kate McCannon”
Best tune he’s got I think
Wow! What a voice! That was incredible.
JasonParadise JASON!!!!
Jason! I watched your stream yesterday
you're everywhere!!
I didn't know you watched these guys!
Ey Jason
Another powerful song about PTSD from the 70s in John Prine's Sam Stone. Prine is also on that boundary of folk and country.
I love y'alls channel, I like how you try new things, its inspired me to listen to stuff more out of my comfort zone and I've recently become a fan of Folk Rock because of it, so thanks!
yeah one of my favorites so happy you guys did this song also another good song you guys might like.
the white Buffalo - come join the murder
Anarchist Or wish it were true by the buffalo
They do put on a good show! Saw them last year.
Notifications on of course, I fucking love your honest reviews!
I actually loved the message and execution of this song. We need to treat our soldiers better, we destroy their ability to be calm, and then when they get back, we destroy their ability to actually return back to normal.
Kyle Pickus ticks and leeches!!!! Epic legendary drumming. Or aenima for some of the best lyrics ever written and an epic, end of days groove... lateraulus might be a bit much
VERY well said. I dont think ive ever heard that described so accurately
I'm country as a turnip green and l never heard of this guy. Thanks for turning me onto him and another great review ✌🏻️
Bubba Lee hes great check out wish it were true by him another song which mentions veteans
The White Buffalo is a living legend!
Please do a reaction video to “Into The Sun”, “Madam’s Soft, Madam’s Sweet”, or “Come on Love Come on In”
The White Buffallo concert was one of the best that i’ve seen
YES! Now that I went once I cant wait to go again.
dig the spaghetti western intro! great feel in this song. you go from one moment killin' to the next standing in line to get your meds at the VA
Favorite artist ever! Outstanding! Plenty of other wondrous songs by The 'Exceptional' White Buffalo.
Dude! Dude!
Can y'all please do something, anything, William Elliot Whitmore!!! Please! Preferably 'Who stole the soul'! Or anything else! Please! PLEASE! 😁
PLAY... LIST!!! What a massive song... Damn!
Wow what an incredible performer.
Thanks for the discovery!
His music is in Sons of anarchy
Great song.
I've seen The White Buffalo in concert 3 times already. Not nearly enough!! His concerts are full of energy and his music hits every emotion! Jake is very down to earth and genuine. Makes time for his fans after his shows!
A White Buffalo fan forever!!
🎶👍🎶
Keep the wolves away - uncle lucious
Great Great musician with a great reaction by you guys thank you for doing this, and i also suggest the matador by the white buffalo another good song with a dark feeling. I thank Sons of anarchy for my introduction to this great music
Yep, Sons of Anarchy was also my introduction to him, and he's probably one of my favourites now. Great music in that show. Also introduced me to The Black Keys and Noah Gunderson, etc.
Same thing for me! So many great songs in that show
Great review! 👍🏻
For a good country song and great whistling listen to Uncle Lucius-Keeping the Wolves Away!!! 👍🏻
Tex FX4 I love Uncle Lucius, great suggestion!
Yes!!! Hope they do this
Yes. Great song
Great song and artist! Extremely powerful. His cover of "Highwayman" really showcases his voice. If you need more of The White Buffalo, start there.
I've not heard The White Buffalo before, but I believe he's going to have a few songs on the playlist now.
What a story teller! This guy should make movies man. Good stuff..thinkin freely fellas
Heard this song on an episode of Sons of Anarchy & immediately had to have it.
I think this was in sons of anarchy and that’s how I found this and I love the music
Incredibly beautiful voice. This dude should be way more popular than he is
The whistling reminded me of old western films. I could see the gunslingers counting the paces as they walked away from each other, ready to turn, hands hovering over their holstered guns.
