Q: What server am I playing Arma games on, who are these people, and can you join?
A: It's the private server for my community, Shack Tactical. As of 2015 we've been around for over nine years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything - we have a fantastic memberbase and it makes for amazing gameplay in Arma and elsewhere. You can read more about us here: www.shacktac.com

Q: Does ShackTac play mostly coop or mostly PvP/adversarial in Arma?
A: We do a mix of about 70% adversarial and 30% coop - both offer unique experiences and are a blast to play.
Q: How long have you been playing the Arma series?
A: I've been here from the start, with my Operation Flashpoint experience beginning with the demo's release in 2001. I went into the US Marine Corps shortly after (no relation!) and in 2004 I started playing OFP in multiplayer. 2006 saw me found ShackTac, which started in OFP and then transitioned through Arma 1, Arma 2, and finally, Arma 3. I hope to continue this for a long time into the future, as well as share the ride with viewers like you, as corny as that sounds!

I think I've learned that Dslyecxi either have eagle eyes or really super duper high definition computer monitors.

TempestasAurum He's at 2560x1600, so he has about twice as many pixels as a normal 1080p monitor. Also, he doesn't have to deal with TH-cam processing, which helps.
NotActuallyBFG That makes a lot of sense, I'm still using an old 720 P 1440x900 monitor myself, so comparatively I'm pretty blind.
During the first BTR search, I was waiting to hear "Hey, that rock is moving."

Watching this on a 42" monitor... had me wanting to reach for the strap handle in the airframe canopy rail every time he pulls up into a wrenching tight turn.
This is one of those videos/missions that I just wanted to continue on and on. Well done!
When you do cinematic video of ops, like the IDF v CSAT one earlier, could you narrate, ex. talking about troop movements and what is going on? I often find that it is more like watching random guys getting shot at, and less like seeing a full view of what is happening during the engagement. It'd be a lot more interesting.

Those smoke bounces are unforgiving. Some guys in my clan have gotten really good at getting them on target. It's basically an art.
Out of curiosity, are you going to start implementing ACE3? Figured you'd already have adopted it by now considering ST used ace in Arma 2, is there something I'm missing?
The Cheshire Cat At some point, yes. Haven't gotten around to it yet, and we generally lag behind in adopting stuff like that in order to avoid the first-release issues and such.

Hey there. I have a question about your roles: I am guessing you have 2 or 3 game masters working together on a completely different TeamSpeak channel. Would you mind correcting me on this with your actual structure? I can hardly imagine your HQ having it's nose in Zeus.
Also, your are using RHS, but that's a freaking MP5 I saw; please enlighten me on that.
Do you guys also use 9-Liner for Cas and 7-Liner "or short version" Medivac/Casevac ?

George Burwood zx often creates our co-op missions and often 'directs' them. And by 'direct' I mean he plots to brutally murder us.

Do you ever use attack helicopters in ShackTac? I couldn't find any videos of them on your channel..
Fahrenheit Yes. He has used the Apache on a mission called Apache Havoc.. Just search that up. :)
Fahrenheit There are a few, Apache Havoc is probably the best example of that. There were some issues in Arma 2 netcode that made it a bit frustrating at times, but it seems like A3 may have mitigated some of that. One of my upcoming videos is of flying an Apache in an A3 coop, for example.

With how powerful a single AH-9 can be in these missions, do you guys ever put like a single MANPAD or AA on the AI's side? Or for that matter, I've seen a lot of your videos where the AI will swarm Hinds at you, but no-one seems to ever have any AA option other than an MMG max
Jared Brown I believe they are still testing everything out fully in Arma 3. The AI current seems to give little care about Aircraft currently. But if they wanted to, the AI could easily all fire on the helo and it would go down (with direction from the Game Master at the time which is usually ZX64)
My GOL clan uses headless client, who does attack these Hummingbirds. We find that when the AI chooses to shoot the MH-6s they aim for the pilot and take them down through the windshield. It's hilariously frusrating. Ops like this with little AA seem to increase the fun factor as long as you don't have a pilot who one man army's the whole mission.

how do you dissable those radar dots that are normally on the "radar HUD" without actually disabling the radar?
pontusieg IIRC this is a change that was made for Marksmen, I believe the M/AH-9s work like this now, and maybe some other helos were changed as well.

pkisbest I think it's that he lets infantry on the ground handle the EI, otherwise he could go in a lay waste to the whole area. But where's the fun in that for everyone else? :)

JammedHam You can assume that our A3 coops are ACRE2 from here on out, yeah. It's almost always that. Advs are still ACRE1 for the moment.

Does ShackTac ever do missions with civilian AI in an urban setting?
Mike van Veen We have in the past, but generally having extra AI like that hurts performance. Maybe in some distant future where Arma handles AI on the server more gracefully.
