    Fella, don’t worry about what other people say or feel about your videos on whether you like horns or not. This is YOUR content not theirs. You like what you like and you put it on TH-cam and that’s it! If others want to consume, that’s fine. if they don’t, then don’t click on it! You do YOU my friend!
    If you can do some digging, it looks like there’s a new structure going up where the old Nassau tower used to be. The metal framing is up. Maybe you can find out what that may be through your travels???👍🏽👍🏽

      Yes, passenger rail has become a real estate game. NIMBY and class-1 make make new rail lines impossible. Drove from philly to roanoke, in PA an VA all new bridges and overpasses are built for a non yet existent third lane. But 50 years from now, it will be there. Glad someone is planning ahead. Given our permitting process; ask for the lane or track now.

    • @chris51lee

      On a separate note, whenever they do a rails-to-trails they need to keep the option of rail traffic AND keep the trail. Electric trains make no sound.

    I was a little kid in the 1970’s living on the corner of Daisy Ave and Floral Blvd. I lay awake at night listening to the Budd electrics fly back and fourth. I have memories of Alco RS3’s shunting slow freights along Atlantic Ave . As a kid, in the backseat of our 67 Plymouth Belvedere, I always noticed a stretch of track at ground level running beside the huge warehouse adjacent to the main line . After researching the grade crossing elimination project in the early 60’s I now realize that this was a temporary mainline bypass used during that project and then abandoned after it was completed. I believe the tracks are still there, but the warehouse is now a self storage business.

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mainline switches are being built to allow those trains to stop at Elmont. I would prefer going via Jamaica because you can catch a train that goes directly to a Station right by the arena

    • @frogger1952
      @frogger1952 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@3985uprr I agree with you. That UBS/Elmont station still leaves you with a 1/2 mile walk to the arena. The only trains that stop at the Belmont station (the one adjacent to UBS arena) are special event trains that leave only from Jamaica. Unfortunately, if you are coming from eastern LI, you end up doubling back which is a major time waster. Also, the trains move into Belmont station at a glacial pace. I've seen videos posted of trains pulling into Belmont and they are moving as fast as the people are actually WALKING to the arena.

      They were trying to avoid crossover moves on the mainline. The Oyster Bay Branch doesn’t see a huge amount of traffic so that switch seems minimally disruptive. When the triple track is open all the way to Hicksville, the Long Island Rail Road will mean business with it in the rush-hour

    so many things they did wrong 3rd track project. no island platform at mineola, what the did to the connection to oyster bay branch making messy crossover worse, removing of high speed switches at floral park. the whole elmont station which is a total waste. belmomt park spur west and east legs should have just been rehabbed and make proper use of existing severely underused station thats also closer to arena. typical pennywise pound foolish. also shunting off atlantic branch to a shuttle train, no plan to replace the c3 and de/dm30acs... lirr sucks.

      Oh, they want to replace locos with charger locomotives

      If they could replace that 15 mph switch with a high speed switch at Floral Park, it will make it easier for eastbound mainline trains to stop at Elmont. A Mineola flyover for OB trains I imagine would be cost prohibitive.

      @@3985uprr no firm plan or order for new locomotives. need new design for dual mode chargers too no? if amtrak is eventually replacing the P40's running between NYP and AlB with a dual mode charger it would be with over running 3rd rail shoes. LIRR is underrunning. c3 fleet is in dire need of expansion if not total replacement as well. or electrification needs to expand. electrifying to port jeff would help remedy the shortage of diesel equipment and the severe lack of space at Hunt. though 3rd track will help allowing deadhead and/or reverse peak moves to huntington as mainline is no longer throated for parts of peak.
