Quick story about Teddy circa 1981. My friends and I were about 15 and would go to a place in Philly called Delisandro's Steaks. It's still there. Anyway, Teddy lived nearby and one night he came in for a sandwich and he talked to us all awhile. It was really a great moment in time that I'll always cherish!

The sad thing is I’m old enough (and I assume you are too) to have watched the decline and disappearance of good old fashioned music.
I mean to look at most of these Hip Hop artists they have no stage presence and really no show. Now just anyone can be a Hip Hop star. Just come up with a name like Lil’ Nas X, or Ice Spice and you can “rap” your way to stardom. Oh and ‘Lil Nas X is like 6 feet tall, not very ‘Lil.
They don’t have to know how to play an instrument because they just sample music that’s already made or they just cobble something together with a computer.
Rock and Roll still goes on but R&B has to die because we just didn’t feel like doing the work.

This was my dads favorite song, he said it reminded him of my mom. He didn’t like to admit it but he could sing, even sang in the church choir, but when he took me to school he would roll the windows down if this song ever came on and sing. He passed away and since then I listen to this song to feel close to him again. His favorite part was, “Said now 70/30, now 60/40, talkin’ bout a 50/50 love.” He LOVED Teddy.
Im very sorry about your Dad! My Dad passed away too this year….like you and your Dad, my Dad and I bonded over many things & music is at the top of the list. I believe music connects people and has always had the ability to bring me back to a time and place where my memories come to life!

Bless you and my condolences for the loss of your father. My Dad passed away from cancer this past April. Since he didn't want a funeral, I held a luncheon in his honor and this song was on the playlist I made for the event.. He loved Teddy and I listen to this song almost daily for peace of mind. My Dad and I were very close so it's been rough but music helps a lot.

I love this song so much. It's also nostalgic for a variety of reasons. It reminds me of my late grandpa, my Mama's father, who was a big fan of Teddy Pendergrass and Otis Redding. It also reminds me of the feeling I felt when building such an intense bond with my children's grandmother as well as my children. I finally understand what this song means.
My partner has also shown me what it means to be loved back and appreciated for the things that I do. Our love has been built on a strong foundation that isn't superficial or materialistic, and he doesn't judge me based on shallow things. He's in my life at a time when I'd completely lost faith in love, reciprocity, and mutual respect. He makes me feel grand...like I'm the most important person in his world. I thank the Universe for turning our friendship into something that blossomed so beautifully at a time when I'd least expected it. He along with my children and dog give me such an intentional purpose, and I can't imagine my life without either of them.
