Minoru Mukaiya is a world famous musician. He was the keyboard player for the legendary fusion jazz band Casiopea th-cam.com/video/AKgjOCuW_MU/w-d-xo.html He has continued to perform, including with drummer Akira Jimbo and bass player Tetsuro Sukarai.
Recently I made this connection after watching the "Fightman" performance on youtube. I was wondering why one of the keyboardists looked so familiar. Later on I re-watched this episode and realized they were the same person. It really sucks that they don't mention his work with Casiopia, though it was definitely fun to figure out the connection
When I first watched this scene from 'Our Man in Japan' I felt both sad and a bit jealous. Sad, because nobody will ever gift me my name in a melody. And envious because the jingle James May received was really exquisite.
Some homework for the comment sections: go watch Domino Line by Casiopea, and Minoru Mukaiya is behind the keyboards. In fact, both of the Ms in the name of the 1982 album Mint Jams are for his name, same with the other band members.
I love this series, but the underappreciation of what minoru mukaiya has done for Japanese music is a crime much worse than crossing a yellow line! 🤣

@@drkskwlkr Actual tears, yo. I don't know if I want anyone singing my name, but I'd at least love a melody like that associated with me

It hurts my soul to hear Mukaiya referred to as a "train jingle composer" lmao. I mean, that too, I guess...

Mr. Mukaya: "ok, WE did it". Gentleman.
