Living in Tokyo has teached me a lot in many ways. Train geeks are a daily basis, and you can see them everyday taking pictures of the train you just leave at the station. But you know the difference here than other countries? Nobody is going to point at them at laught. Nobody is going to see them as some weirdos. Everybody respects them as they may respect your own hobbies. That's why Japan allows for lots of different of passions, cultures and hobbies surroundings weird and nitche stuff. That's why I love this country so much.
This is the most wonderful show, I love when James May does these types of things. It relaxes me and makes me happy before I go to sleep. Thank you so much chaps!
I'm going to have to watch this again. It was brilliant the first time around, but I've forgotten so much. I hope James does another series like this. 👍
2:23 when your mom has already warned you 2 times that she doesn't want you swearing and you don't want to get slapped but have to pester your sibling just one last time.
Japan is probably the coolest nation in the world and with China zillions of years behind. I envy Mr May adventures in Japan from a positive perspective. As a tour guide myself in my country, Japanese tourists are the best in the world. Have fun James!
We all agree that his tour guide probably uses his bidet to wash his face, right? He tried to sell James way too hard on the idea that he could 'theoretically' do that.
Can't believe James May missed the correct meaning of 'otaku'. It literally means a homebody as in one who spends the majority of their time at home which then was stretched out to mean nerdy homebody who geeks out at home.
like all words in most languages, their meanings can change at any time. In japan, Otaku used to be derogatory term for people who spent alot of time at home doing unsocial things but now its embraced alot more as people who are hyper enthusiastic about niche or specific things, nerdy about them
Just by happenstance I visited that Train cafe just because it was the closest place to have a drink. It was very pleasant even though I'm not into trains.
I'd love to visit Japan, it's just so fascinating! That train cafe looks fantastic, although I'd probably confuse the patrons, by visiting with my girlfriend! Then, my goal would be to wind her up, by constantly dropping bad train-themed puns, like asking for _steamed_ milk, saying how I was _chuffed_ and that I _railly_ like it.
There is one in Czech republic in a city called Brno. It drives around and delivers beverages. It also goes over bridges that when in use automatically lower themselves. It is quite a sight.
derp. I’ve seen plenty of people who refer it to Akiba from all stretches of the world. What I was really referring to is why his guide didn’t tell him that. And mind you I’m just having conversation, no need for sarcasm.
You know your chuffing noise is legit when James May of all people approves it...
*realistic chuffing sound
He must be well chuffed!
Actually happy for those train guys, able to be themselves and enjoy what they love and at least someone to appreciate it
4:47 I love the connection when they share a laugh, the cultural differences completely vanish. 😄
The two train fans were quite loveable.
I thought so, too. i love the faces the guitarist in Takahira's band was making, too.
Oh, I just noticed that he's not playing a guitar in this video. He has a little electronic thing with buttons and what not.
VERY EXCITING
"The train is now leaving"
Those lyrics made me sit and rethink the meaning of life!
it's a brilliant metaphor for all the missed opportunities

"Still better than Coldplay"
Damnnnn
Do you know why he doesn't like Coldplay?
no but why
James looks so out of place in Tokyo, it’s like a anime protagonist in a crowd of random civilians
Isn't that fantastic?
James: "No"
4:47 definitely funniest moment
0:41 "yes."
5:47 "yes."
@Max Van der Sommen - That transpotter's "yes" is second only to a Clarkson "yes"!
This is the most wonderful show, I love when James May does these types of things. It relaxes me and makes me happy before I go to sleep. Thank you so much chaps!
James should have bought that mask. Handling Coronavirus with ease

James really had a wild trip around Japan! th-cam.com/users/shortsabxEfHG2L-8?feature=share
If the grand tour ever does a Japan thing they better invite Deodorant-san.

If Thomas the train were an anime, this dude would be the conductor.
Sir Topham Hat-san
The Flying Scotsman *_With Realistic Chuffing Sound_*
Give Yojiro and James their own travel series.
2:32 James was briefly possessed by Jeremy Clarkson
Yes
He has done that a lot bro
2:54 oh cool, nichijou
The train beat boxer is a living legend 😄 the doors closing hand gesture is that extra sauce on top of the epic 😁
6:06 Did he just barking 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loved these train guys, best people they met imo
0:13 at least he was speaking English to James

Sounds like James flying Scotsman with real chuffing sound
James is finally home.
Ouch! Coldplay the roundhouse slap again 😂
Me: AMAZING!
Him: No.
A beat boxing train spotter. There's got to be a lady out there who's into that. Just keep looking.
When she say she's home alone.
5:13
Even the trainspotters in Japan are interesting. Wow.
I do not understand the train thing, but hey I’m glad they’re having fun with it.
I’d love to see 40k in Japan
Amazing train noises
can't wait for this whole quarantine thing to end so I can finally visit Japan
Just by happenstance I visited that Train cafe just because it was the closest place to have a drink. It was very pleasant even though I'm not into trains.
What was it called? I’m looking for it on Google but I’ve had no luck
I’m really curious to check it out once borders reopen

why dont we have a model train cafe in europe

Europe has the largest model railway in the world. There's a cafe in there.
"uhmmmmmmmm.....No" lol

James May finally found his natural habitat
~~ James May, sumimasen ~~
The guide reminds me so much of Munenori Kawasaki but with slightly better English!
steven segal started doing train noises?
Give James a pair of thick classes and he'll be a spitting image of Brian Badonde from Facejacker
5:20 🤣
The mustard bottle on the table said yellow mustard. As opposed to the blue and green mustard you can get 😂
I like trains
Somebody pls tell me the name of that song. I forgot it

David Tennant has entered chat ! XD
anyone know the name of the band?
5:13 me front of my bathroom mirror.....
Every weeb ever is quaking at how he pronounces Akihabara.
In Japan, we’ve always just called it Akiba, so I wonder why James didn’t use that.
Alan Now, just hear me out here. Maybe, just maybe, James didn’t say akiba because, and I’m just spitballing, he isn’t from Japan??
