@@robertech23 that's bullshit. I have a MK7 GTE with a 6 speed and have never heard any noise from the car other than the electric motor's quiet whine when in E-Mode.

As cool as it may be, I think I'd prefer the standard GTI because of greater simplicity, less things to break down after years of ownership, and probably cheaper to maintain also.
I would say it depends how long you own the car. If the real problems start after 3-5 years, and you still choose to swap by then. Then it wont matter for you, but more for the next owner.. 😄 👍

Combustion engines are always better
I drive the Passat GTE for 3.5 Years and 80T km...same drive train...no issue at at all so far.

This car seems really neat to me, but I live in the US so we probably won't get this car anytime soon (because the EPA unfortunately rolled back some emissions regulations so companies will sell their less efficient cars here).
Though I do wonder, a 4wd golf using the GTI motor to power the front wheels and electric motors to power the rear wheels could be very good, harnessing both the strengths of being a hybrid (electric motors can power the car without using a transmission, improving efficiency), and being faster off the line. Iirc the new RAV4 Prime has this same layout, and that thing is QUICK, especially for it's fuel economy.
So in electric only mode the 0-100 was around 10 seconds. that's not bad really. Great videos 👍

I guess it's also a requirement in some countries. It's meant to keep pedestrians aware of the risk of accidents.

Benötigt man für den GTE zwingend eine Lademöglichkeit oder lädt er sich auch vollständig während der Fahrt über den Verbrenner auf?
Er lädt sich auch komplett während der Fahrt auf, kann man einstellen.

@@malaka5176 ja aber diese Charging-Mode ist natürlich nicht wirtschaftlich. Zwingend ist doch eine Steckdose gebraucht. Klar wird ein wenig geladen durch das bremsen (Rekuperation).

Interessant, dass man bessere Beschleunigungswerte erzielt, wenn man immer sofort den Boost aktiviert, mit Fuss vom Gas und wieder drauf. Hab ich noch nie bei einem anderen Auto so gesehen. Frage: Kann man mit dem DCC komfortabel fahren oder kann man es dann eher mit einem normalen, serienmässigen Fahrwerk vergleichen? Der GTE hat ja mindestens 18 Zöller serienmässig drauf.

I drove the car. It wasn’t like I expected. No boost. Ist was fast, but not fast. If you understand :-) But the electric range is very well.

I have the Golf 8 GTE right now, but only a wall outlet charger. I remember that the Golf 7 had a 'battery charge' drive mode, but I can't seem to find it on the Golf 8. Is it just me or did they remove it?

Aviso a navegantes. VW Golf 8 GTE comprado en febrero de 2023 ya lleva un mes en el taller con problemas de ruidos en la caja de cambios. Si estáis interesados el algún modelo como este pensarlo muy bien antes de adquirirlo os evitaréis muchos problemas.

Not gonna lie but I like almost any aspect of my Golf 7,5 GTE 2017 better. The only thing that's better about the Golf 8, is the better battery.

whats with that strange e boost turning off and making a sound for a second during accelleration?
he explains that the boost has a maximum duration of 10-15 sec. Releasing the gas quickly 'resets' that duration so it boosts longer and performs better than a full throttle all the time.
Really really like this car but why the 6 speed DSG? Doesn’t it affect fuel consumption, performance, in-car noise, and overall smoothness? Don’t tell me it’s because of torque again....
Not sure. But i can tell you, even my GTI Clubsport have 6-speed DSG. And im glad for that as they are said to be more reliable from Volkswagen themself... 👍

I’m really tempted, but I still can’t see the advantage over the, for example, 1.5 150 hp mild hybrid, which costs much less and goes pretty much the same, just a tad slower up to a certain speed.... 🤷🏻♂️😃

the electric motor is built into the transmission, no doubt the same configuration from the Mk7 GTE, this is the platform for now.

Allerdings habe ich mir die Tage beim Händler um die Ecke nen Golf 7 R line in der Farbe angeguckt und muss sagen, dass meiner Freundin und mir die Farbe bei Tageslicht sehr zugesagt hat.
Habe es bei der Bestellung jetzt bei Uranograu belassen!

Interessanter finde ich eigentlich die elektrische Reichweite von 60 km. Das sollte für die meisten täglichen Fahrtstrecken reichen, ohne dass der Verbrenner "arbeiten" muss. Und die Fahrleistungen des GTE sind auch nicht schlecht. Wenn da nur nicht das blöde Bediensystem vom Golf 8 wäre, wäre der GTE wirklich ein empfehlenswertes Auto.
Ich denkt auch das man realistisch 40 km rein elektrisch kommt selbst wenn man Autobahn fährt. Das Bedienkonzept bedarf etwas Eingewöhnung aber funktioniert dann ganz gut!

You can drive flat out for quite a bit because the battery regenerates.

Weshalb schaltet das Auto im E Betrieb die Gänge durch? Ich dachte, bei Elektromotoren gibt es keine Gänge?
In einem reinen Elektroauto wird meistens nur ein 1-Gang Getriebe verbaut, da man auch nicht mehr braucht. Bei Plugin-Hybriden benutzen aber das beide Motoren das selbe Getriebe, weshalb auch im E-Modus die Gänge durchgeschaltet werden müssen.

@@lightwolf3622 ja das ist nicht selten dass einer trotz deiner hohen Geschwindigkeit schneller ist als du aber ich finde die zweite Spur tut es auch. Ist natürlich was anderes wenn er da herumschleicht. Mittelspurschleier gehören zu den schlimmsten Dingen im Straßenverkehr

That 24,3 sec was 0 to 200, the 18 sec was 100 to 200.
Next time get the car in manual last gear and floor it from 100-200-230 or something like that

Der Akku kann nicht "leer" sein. Das Auto hält einen mindestakkustand welcher dann immer genügend Leistung verfügbar machen kann

I have one its very quick from 0 to 140 i would say but the quality is shit, errors with sensors and the screen is bad too but overall the driving is very good
Idk but I cant get warm with this golf... I got an 7.5 GTI Performance and for me this is the best Golf yet and timeless. Also the Interieur on the mk8 ist just... IDK looks kinda cheap and is missing some "feelings" for me...

Can you provide some info about those claims? Because there are no oficial timinis of acceleration on ght Golf GTI VIII yet.
The oficial 0-100 in the Giulietta QV is 6,6 seconds.
This GTE unit did around 6,5s and it is way heavier due to the hybrid system.
The oficial Golf VII GTI performance with 245 hp (the power of the actual Golf VIII) did 0-100 in 6,2s.
And please, don´t compare them, Golfs GTI are build to last, any QV version from any Alfa Romeo is expected to spend more time being repared than in the road.
Just look at the Giulia QV, beautiful car, best in class in terms of performance and for me, in looks. But the reliability is pretty poor, at the point that a used Giulia QV can be found pretty cheap compared to M3s or C Class AMG.

They're certainly better than the Alfas but that's not saying much since Alfas have quite terrible reliability to begin with.
@@xIcarus227 I said Golfs GTI. The 2.0 litre EA888 has been around since Golf V and they have never given known issues. In VW they know the GTI drivetrain (engine+gearbox) it is what makes it different from the rest, so they don't cheap out on reliability. Second hand market is filled with GTIs, even from the first Golf generation. There has never bee a faulty one.
Alfa Romeos on the other hand...

The EA888 engine started its life as a 1.8 and was a complete piece of shit reliability-wise. It consumed a lot of oil (still does, but not to the same extent), had timing chain issues (still does) and there have been reports of warped and cracked engine blocks even in low-power variants, likely related to the excessive oil consumption. In fact one of my friends had this exact engine on a Leon in 160HP form and the engine block cracked months before his warranty ended. He was super lucky to have warranty cover everything.
The 2.0 EA888 came in later, and even though it's newer it inherited all of its brother's reliability issues. VW was more interested in making money rather than caring about their customers.
Right now the engine still drinks oil, albeit a smaller amount, and more importantly still has timing chain issues after 100k km. I don't think I need to say what happens if that chain snaps during operation.
It's been 13 years of constant improvements, the engine went through 3 generations, and you still can't call it a reliable engine.

And you can say whatever you want, but I know hundreds of owners that had and have a GTI with that engine in mark V, VI and VII Golfs and they never had a single issue, not even when you push it close to 300 hp.
Oils consumption it is not an issue if it`s something that happens since the first day you use a car, in every car sold,it is how it works, you can say it has higher maintenance, but not calling it an issue. It would be an issue if the turbo would burn that oli and end up failing, thing that never happened with those engines.
Can you provide a link to all those problems? Were they general or something particular you read in one forum? May it be becasue it it the best selling hot hatch in Europe, with the biggest online community and therefore, more chances of people reporting every single issue?

Funnily enough I’m not surprised. I been telling my wife to let off and reapply for a while and it feels like it stays faster for longer because your almost resetting the torque curve so you are get more boost than letting it peak
