    OMGGGG you helped me a lot!!! I’m not in touch with my teacher because of quarantine and I started getting soooo dizzy when playing but when I googled it all websites were telling me my embouchure was wrong.. but I knew it wasn’t the problem, and because of your video I realised it was indeed because of blowing too hard (specially cos I’m working on a piece that needs forte high notes, and I was blowing really hard instead of having control) THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

      Gabe that is fantastic to hear! (not that you were getting dizzy haha, but that the video has helped you so much.) Good on you! Jane

    👏👍 I never experienced dizziness when learning to play the concert flute or even the fife flute. I did, however, experience dizziness or light-headedness when first learning to play the pan flute. But after a week or two that was no longer a problem. 😊 🎼 ♫

      Good on you Christopher. It sounds like you managed to get a smaller hole in your mouth automatically on the pan flute.

      @@JaneFluteSchool Hi Jane, I was told by a professional pan flutist that it's not uncommon to experience light-headedness when first learning to play the pan flute. Great tutorial, by the way! Happy Fluting! 😊

    Jane, you're awesome! I got dizzy just listening to you purposely making the beginners mistakes. I've always wanted to play flute and if I had you as my teacher, I'm sure that I would succeed. I am a bass player, so I do have some concept of music composition, but I make each and every mistake that you've listed here on the flute. Thanks for the quick lesson. :)

    Amazing lady! I thought my dizziness and nearly passing out many times was due to my health or something (prem. baby). I packed up playing and everything. Thank Goodness you are on here! You star teacher. Thank you.

    Hi-
    I know I am very late to this but for the longest time I’ve always gotten super tired when playing for the past two years. Not exactly dizzy but more fatigued. I came here because I don’t have my private lessons until Monday and I have a big recital coming up.
    Also I’d find my embouchure being too large and I would have my jaw sticking out a tiny bit but even so I don’t know how to fix it and implement it into my playing.

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there!
      If you find you're getting fatigued, it may be due to using an embouchure which is too big, which means you would need to use more air to fill it, which can be tiring. If you haven't already yet, check out my free mini course on tone to help achieve this. www.flute.school/free

    I’ve been playing clarinet for five years then I started flute. Could be the reason why

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cadence! Yes, it could well be why :) If you get your air more focused when you blow (by aiming for a really clear sound), you'll waste less air. Clarinet players often play flute with too big a hole - so work on that too! Good luck :) Jane xx

    Hi Jane. You say that you get dizzy when you do this. I sometimes get lightheaded, and it is like a passing out feeling. Is this also normal. I realized that my embouchure was too big.

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey yes you're exactly right - I mean lightheaded when I say dizzy, and yep it is because the hole in your mouth is too big. Hopefully you've been able to make it smaller. You'll also get a clearer sound this way!

    I’m just wondering does it happen to any age? Because I started playing the flute yesterday and I was a little dizzy during practice

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep anyone can feel dizzy when playing the flute if your embouchure is too big! As this means you're needing to use too much air in order to create the sound. Try and make your embouchure smaller by bringing the corners of your mouth slightly forward. 😀

    I am a beginner, I learn play flute after 20 years gap 😂 I have got a question- when, between notes in a melody should I take a breath?

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most beginner books will have the breath marks written out for your (normally appear as commas). Otherwise at the end of a phrase. If you're not up to that stage yet, aim for the bar lines until you're able to extend your breath through the phrase. 😀

      @@JaneFluteSchool Thank you very much Jane 💐 Now I understand. I work on making the hole as small as possible and I have just started blowing through it with great success! Before, my face and lips were tense, and yesterday I imagined that my face was made of jelly - I put the flute to my "jelly" mouth and it was a huge improvement- long tone without being dizzy. Thank you for all your advices. You teach the best lessons on TH-cam, several-minute videos, clear and slow speech (I'm not native English speaker, I from Poland but I understand everything) 🤗 💐💐💐

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rudy - if you're still getting dizzy then it means you're breathing in too much. You could still be blowing a bit too hard, or perhaps you still have too big a hole in your mouth. Good luck working it out! You'll feel much better when you do :) Jane
