Hi! Thanks for playing and I'm happy you guys enjoyed the trilogy! ❤ I'm pretty sure the text scrolling bug in DE2 was caused by Newgrounds replacement Flash player - to be honest I'm surprised the games work so well there at all.
Anyway, you might be interested in trying the 4th game in the series - like your viewers already mentioned - or one of the other games I've made, like a strategy card game Waterworks! - and check out my upcoming point and click Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken
wait another deep sleep is coming up? ooooh boy we are in for a treat. I enjoyed the first 3 a decent bit so this one I know will be quality
You are a major reason why im going to college to study game design
Thank you for all of the Don't escape games, I find myself going back to play once a year or so even though I already figured my whole speedrunny route for them a long time ago :)
I have never read such a smooth plugin before. I might have to check out these games
The only question I have is why didn’t you play the 4th game in the don’t escape series, unless that's gonna be another video since it's way longer that the first 3.
you know there's a fourth game,
it combines the mechanics of the second one with a focus on narrative and is much longer
I bought the game back in middle school, and still have not beat it, it is very difficult in my opinion, having played the other games in the series. But I do agree it has a better narrative.
It's basically final destination but more interesting
He's not gonna talk about the fourth game??? that one is my favorite! the lore and story is so good and entertaining
@@Jayden_Lake It is a bit longer tho... maybe he'll give it it's own video?
@@rbpgamemaster I hope that's the case, I would love to see it getting it's own video
Don’t Escape is a classic series for me, I was so excited for the fourth one. The nostalgia is nuts.
Dude I LOVE the Don't Escape series. I have played all 4 of them and did everything I could think of in them. :)
Fr, they're so cool!!
As someone who can’t even really play video games anymore Ben’s videos on all these games I’ll probably never get to play are such a nice unique look into them.
what happened?
@@intercontinentalballisticbenmaybe they don't have time anymore
@@intercontinentalballisticben just less time and having bad headaches like daily and being more tired now. Nothing like life threatening if that’s why you asked
@@intercontinentalballisticben I can't play video games anymore.
*_Not since the accident😔_*
@@namis6925 NOOOOO
Fun fact about the shopping cart and the coin: no, it’s not just a British thing. Almost all of Europe runs on that system.
i'm pretty sure it's mostly only american that doesn't use it
same in Canada but no one bothers to actually chain up the carts, not even the employees :P
As an American, we have those, it's just not a popular thing. So yeah, they exist here, it's just not at every place.
@@akoscs.6149 we also have them in the USA mostly at cheaper stores like Save-a-lot
I LOVED the Don’t Escape franchise, especially the fourth game. The characters on that one live in my head time to time and the story was just so good. I loved how you failing on getting through the day perfectly would partially have consequences on the following day, it’s just great to have that kind of level of strategy where you’d kinda have to manage your time and be resourceful, absolutely fantastic
yes omg such a good breakdown of 4, i really hopes he makes a follow up for it
the fact that if you complete the fourth game and go back to do it again will give you a whole different ending amazes me
@@yeemen6033 EXACTLY YEAHHH-- i dont wanna spoil for Ben here just in case they might play it for themselves--
but the fact you get to do that just gives you an entirely new experience and truly make up for mistakes or even just things you already know what's going to happen, you're practically just reliving everything and trying your best to get that true ending, that seemingly perfect ending. Such an adventure just to get there,
I also love that Don't Escape 4 referenced the Deep Sleep games as well.
@@NothingThere739they're in the same universe, actually
The way everyone screamed "AMONG US IT'S AMONG US!!" made me smile so much and these games were absolutely amazing!
kids not knowing what an astronaut is anymore isnt good, its very depressing
@@shinken6636 The concept of an astronaut being controlled by a parasite while still in his suit and killing everyone on board is a concept that was popularised by among us.
People know what astronauts are, however the concept of an astronaut killing others on their own ship while being controlled by a parasite is new.

This guy randomly burst out of nowhere swinging 4 months ago and never stopped hitting, by far one of my favourite channels on this website
These games are available on Steam aswell for $4. Theres no new content but in how Don't Escape 2 had some errors with the text it might have been fixed in the Steam version alongside many other bug fixes.
There is also Don't Escape 4 which I'm surprised was never covered on this video, perhaps in another video due to how LARGE this game is. Like seriously, it was long enough for Markiplier to make around 7 episodes for. This is also on Steam for $15, and don't be discouraged by the price as this game is HUGE. Theres even a "Deep Sleep" trilogy that is connected to these games made by the same developer.
Great video, this game series is amazing.
I'd hope they fix any spelling bugs before putting it for sale lol it's a quality game
There's even going to be a fourth deep sleep game eventually.
@@lightning1776 Yes, quite excited for it as I saw it on the developer's page.
@@lightning1776 Let me guess:Its gonna be called"Deepester Sleep",as Markiplier jokingly/mockingly said in one of his"Deep Sleep series"videos XD?
i was so obsessed with this series from markiplier’s playthroughs of them!!! so glad you decided to cover them :)
you should definitely also check out the fourth game!! it’s longer and it’s very well made!!
I plan to! It's a longer one, so it''ll get it's own dedicated video!
@@ben_again I'd love to see that! It's one of my favourite games out there
@@ben_again Fourth game also related to the other game Script welder made - Deep sleep!
@Ben_again do you mind pinning this so everyone can see?
@@ben_againit's also best if you play it's sister trilogy deep sleep.
It should be noted there is a fourth Don't Escape game that you completely missed, that is also the biggest, Don't Escape: 4 Days In A Wasteland
You should definitely do a stand alone video about it
If I remember correctly, it also ties into another point and click series about waking up from a Coma. I just forgot the name
Edit: it's called Deep Sleep
Yeah, they're set in the same canon. There's a clear tie-in at one point in the 4th game.
These were some of the first escape type games I ever played when I first found armor games back in like 2015???. Scriptwelder has such a very lovely pixelated style that drew me in instantly, and got me obsessed with the escape room genre. Don’t escape 3 was my absolute favorite since it was space and the twist had me screaming. And there’s also actually a 4th don’t escape. This and the Deep Sleep series are absolutely phenomenal.
ITS HERE FOR ALL TO SEE! HELL YEAH GOOD JOB BEN!!! GLAD TO BE A PART OF THIS!
Oh my goodness, how do you keep making videos about all the niche little games I absolutely love? And acing the presentation and content? And you’ve played Professor Layton, too? Favorite TH-camr right here, folks.
I remember playing games with similar mechanics on cool math games when I was younger, and I immediately wanted to play these. When you said that the 2nd and 3rd were timed I was scared I wouldn't be able to play all of them because real life timers stress me out so much I just won't play the game, but the time going down only after you complete a task makes me feel so much better about it. I'm a huge fan of puzzle games and will absolutely be playing these when I get the chance.
I loved the in-depth analysis of all your videos and the added gameplay segments showing off the dynamics you have with your friends really adds another flare to this video in particular which I hope to see more of. TLDR, love your stuff, keep it up!
I like how each entry in the trilogy is more technologically advanced then the last, also like the thematic similarities between the first and last entries, both have you be affected by outside forced that motivate you to kill others and trying to contain yourself to prevent that, but the astronaut unlike the were wolf failed to prevent those deaths so they take their life to prevent further deaths, and the middle/zombie guy mainly recruited other to prevent their death.
YES! So glad this trilogy is getting attention! I loved these games!
I love the contrast of using music from Zero Escape, a series where your objective is to escape rooms, as BGM in a video about a game where your objective is to actively barricade yourself in a room. Feels beautifully ironic. Also the rest of the BGM is choice, good taste.
It's nice to finally meet the rest of the gang you play games with, it'd be nice to see them show up in the future!
great video as always, ben
Always nice to see old flash games get the recognition they deserve. I know everyone else already said it but you need to play the fourth one, I had a lot of fun with it and I think you would too. Keep up the great work Ben and best of luck in your internship!
I LOVE THIS TRILOGY! God Ben keeps reviving the cool games from the past that I remember
Keep up the great work!
As someone who has been playing the scriptwelder games since the first deep sleep, it feels nice to have someone mention them again! Thanks!
it's so good to see a franchise you love being on a vid like this. appreciate it bud good job
YOOOO THIS IS HONESTLY SO COOL and those art peices of Geno, Aaron, and Syankora were Sick!
Thank you so much!!
7:18 "After offering both violence AND alcohol with no success."
Saving THIS for the out-of-context quotes!
I’ve always loved the idea of this series. It’s great to see you make a video on it, truly wonderful
The coin-locked shopping cart is also an Aldi thing! I was, very confused the first time I went 😂
ETA: what a fun series of concepts for these games! Also your friends are a Delight
Always a good day when Ben uploads a new video. This series was awesome! Keep up the great work
This series is nostalgic to me and it brought me great joy to see ya cover it. Maybe one day you'll cover 4 but till then thank you so much for the joy today 😁
Lovely to see another one of your videos, your content always brings me such nostalgia and peace! I have had a very stressfull weeks and watching your video has been... well, very good for me actually, allowing me to decompress and relax, so thank you! Keep being awesome ^~^
I love the Don't Escape games! It's always exciting to see you talk about a game I've played before so I really enjoyed this video. Great work as always, looking forward to whatever you do next.
Oh damn I never expected you to cover this. A very pleasant surprise, and a throwback that I needed! Thanks for this, hope you plan to check out the fourth one!
Your videos give the same comfy feel as hanging out with a long time friend. Keep up the amazing content!
Scriptwelder is such a legend. It brings my heart joy to see other people remember them.
I really hit the goldmine with this channel because you always seem to make videos on somewhat obscure games that I am coincidentally very passionate about. Plus your presentation style is right up my alley.
Can't wait for the next co-op games you show on this channel, they're really fun with the guys you hang out with. Very entertaining to watch!
you are quickly becoming one of my favorite youtubers and the recordings with your friends are great you also seem like a genuinely nice guy
Talk about the room series? It’s a series of five puzzle games made by fireproof games that are also kinda escape room games and they have interconnected lore. So far nobody on TH-cam has really talked about them
"YOU CAN USE IT WHERE THE CORPSES ARE!"
"...ohhhhhhhhh"
y'all killed me lmao
I'm so glad Jell hopped in, he brings such a lively presence, just the best vibes :]
oh man i forgot how much I loved this trilogy, clicked straight away when I saw your video. Awesome work!!
Love it when you upload
Love this video, so glad you enjoyed these games. Scriptwelder is such an inspiration and his Deep Sleep series and Don't Escape series are just great in terms of aesthetics, mechanics and creativity
Thank you so much for making this, I didn't think one of my staple flash series would be shone under light again (this and the deep sleep trilogy)
I do sometimes say words, it's true! (Thank you for everything you do Ben! You're awesome!)
I loved these games and Im glad you played them because it gives me a reason to relive them
I'M SO GLAD YOU MADE THIS VIDEO. I love those games as a kid and I've never seen anyone else bring them up
Great retrospective on one of my favourite flash series! Always like seeing how people solve these, particularly the second with how much variety in outcomes there are.
Also, 8:42, Two things! 1. UK is not the only place to do this, Canada and many other European countries do this as well (Scriptwelder is Polish himself, not British) so it's not strictly a British thing
2. But also, as using a coin to get cart/trolley is really uncommon in places like the US it would be rather obtuse for most players from the US to figure out, so the coin is actually one of two solutions to get the cart. The other solution is to simply use the metal cutter from outside the starting house to cut the chain. In other words, regardless of where you're from, even if you've never heard of a cart/trolley having a coin slot, there's at least one solution that should be intuitive, which I think is neat game design.
I LOVE the Don't Escape and Deep Sleep games, I'm so happy you covered them!!
I love the Don’t Escape Games! I remember playing 3 at school and almost feel backwards during one of the jump scares. Believe it or not, there is a number 4 to the series! It is the longest one and had multiple endings!
I love these games and I love this video! Hope you cover the fourth game eventually
Love your characters art style, great job on the video man
One of my favorite series and it's so exciting to see you talk about them! A lot of people have mentioned the 4th game, 4 days to survive, but they also have a series called "Deep Sleep" that may be worth checking out! It's more a standard point-and-click adventure, but it still has fun
Yes!!!!! This is one of my favorite game series of all time: one I actually got to play myself a while back (except the forth…watched it tho) + Alongside scriptwelder’s deep sleep series. This series was one of the reasons I was very fond of escape rooms back in elementary/middle school. I’m so happy this video was made.
Nice to see these old games get some light again. Brings me nostalgia.
Btw there is a don't escape four.
I absolutely love Don't Escape since it helped inspire my whole ideology of "Social Management" specifically the part where if you put two people in a room then eventually one will consider themselves a threat and either A. indulge in that assumption and physically harm the other person or B. attempt to distance themselves so they do not harm the other person until they can't hold out any longer and Scenario A happens.
you should consider ✨therapy✨
GOSH!! I love your videos!! I truly still stand by what I said, your content is perfect! Its such a perfect mix of calm and simple yet detailed and amazing synopsis! I cannot put into words how much I love this channel!!!
Your videos are a boost of serotonin after a long day :') I hope your internship is going well!
Great vids. Never seen seen or heard of some of these.
Yooo I had played the second game but never knew there was more, that's an awesome series!
Love hearing about new games. Makes me wanna check them all out
Thank you so much for creating this Video, I kept trying to find this game series but I couldnt remember the name.
The idea of not escaping instead was so much fun to watch, thank you to the person and you for making this game and video respectively
Your voice is genuinely so soothing, I could probably fall asleep listening to it. Glad I found you :)
I loved those games! Nostalgia kickin me now
I remember playing the first two Don't Escape games on Newgrounds, I'm so glad you we're able to cover these games in this video
all i learned from this video is british batman
love your videos man!
Can't wait for you to do Don't Escape 4! Great video!
I’ve been a fan of these games since Markiplier played them. Honestly so happy to see someone else talk about these games. Thanks for another great video, man.
There’s a 4th game too, which is much more story-based and has multiple levels that change each time you play.
8:41 In the US, we have a grocery chain called Aldi's that require you to put a quater into the cart that's hooked up to a chain lock before it'll let you take it. And whenever you put the chain back it spits the quarter out.
Love those carts. Mom used to let me put the quarter in whenever I was there, but then she stopped letting me because "I'm an adult" and "need to get out of the way".
I AM AT ALDI
I feel like you might enjoy the horror escape games from rusty lake! (I say just rusty lake in general because all of the games follow one story line about the lake, and they all work together to advance the plot.) they’ve been making games for quite some time and even had a short live action film made for one of their recent games, but so little people seem to know about this dark hidden gem. I personally love the cube escape collection, which was a bundle of nine short escape rooms that unpack a crime scene investors journey through the lake after finding it out through his job. That one’s even free on the App Store! Thank you for always making such fun videos on topics I would have never heard about.
I was waiting for this man to make a video about this game and it has finally happened
The crystals in the third game are a reference to another game made by the same developer, scriptwelder, called Primal Sands, where your ship (the one the crew in DE3 finds) crashes on an alien planet, and you have to defend it while repairing the ship. The aliens drop those crystals when killed, and they act as the money of that game.
I remembered playing these games back on the school’s computers. Good memories
The 3rd Game is one of my favorites due to the twist, The 4th game is really good especially with it’s Random Scenarios as well as it’s story, but the twist in the 3rd game makes it so good in my opinion
geez the games just progressively get more and more creepy...
great video as usual by the way!
I really like how all theses games look. The realistic pixel art is just so nice to look at
I remember these!! I used to play stuff like this and the Henry stickman games every day after school, they always gave me this strange feeling as I played them. Like a unique sort of isolation that doesn't quite feel lonely, it's a specific feeling I would always get from these late 2000's - early 2010's kinds of flash games.
Played and beat the 4th one the day it came out, this series is amazing. Absolutely worth it
These games were some of my favorite when I was younger, It's great to see that they're getting the appreciation they deserve. You should check out the deep sleep games, they're by the same person and have a really creepy vibe that I absolutely love.
I love everything this company makes they’re so good. My favorite was the series about the lucid dreams
I usually just listen to youtube on the background while playing a game or doing chores, but this video made me actually watch the video.
This video was really well made!
oh i remember playing these usually after getting home and just having a blast like i loved these, so many good memories ... and memories of feeling pretty dumb but fun still!
8:49 Some US cities have that too. You get your coin back if you return the cart sometimes.
New video let’s go I’m so excited
Im shocked content this good and consistent getting so little views.
Oh my god, i completely forgot about the game, thank you for reminding me of it Ben.
Also hi Jell!!!!
This was a fun watch, I'd only played the first game as I didn't know it was a series. Cool to see the idea get expanded with the sequels. Also PW and 999 music? Fine taste.
Dam, you opened my mind, i played this games so much time ago, but I forgot about it
Cant believe you didnt talk ab the 4th game, its one of my all time favorites!! Still really glad u covered this series tho
Already hyped for this because it’s another Ben video + escape room video game! Once you said Newgrounds though…
I’M GRABBING MY POPCORN!🍿
I was not interested into Escape room games, but you made me interested into this stuff, I will give it a shot
I love this series.
Im sure someone else has mentioned it but there is a 4th entry (maybe it’s 5?) either way it’s on steam and from what I’ve seen on it it looks really really fun
i remember play all these in high school and don't escape 1 is my personal fav, I liked trying to get every out come text
I know a bunch of people have already mentioned this. But you should really check out the fourth game. It might be the longest but it has a very intriguing story and a lot of cool and new gameplay mechanics, along with a bunch of older ones.
Also. Loved the video. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone cover or play the Don't Escape games and watching this felt like a nice breath of air.
the ghost trick music made me pog
i love that game sm
