Thank you for such an excellent review. It is so good to find a review of a tool from a user who has actually USED the tool. Too many "review videos" are simply unboxing videos. It is frustrating to start to watch a video only to find the user has zero experience with the tool. It is refreshing to see a review after an entire year of use. Bravo young man! Excellent video and review.
yup I bought the 3.25HP Triton TRA001 for the same reasons as you did. it is simply the best router on the market. powerful, precise, and it has its own table lift, super easy bit changing over the table top, bit height adjustment over the table top. I use it for heavy cuts on the router table, mostly in the very hard woods, and it works like a charm. I couldn;t recommend this router more.
Thanks for the review, I just bought that exact router and am going to set it up under a table. So good to get the low down, esp the warning about the sproingggggoinggg. Also I'm from NZ (in London though) so good to hear it from you. Thought I was watching myself for a minute! Anyway thanks a lot and all the best with your great work
Nice review...thankyou. I notice you have installed a remote ON/OFF switch, and assume you leave the router switch ON. With the router switch ON, the collet lock feature wont work (safety feature). How did you work around that?
After around 3 years of use in a table the rack and pinion riser eventually wore out and the height adjustment wouldn't hold. However, (caveat) I did not have the "above the table" adjustment feature, and had to manually adjust the height using the handle from underside. There was however, no disputing the router's power.
Excellent review. Also on a side note did u do the voice over for Gurg in Guardians of the Galaxy 😂😂 that’s all I could see when you were narrating. His voice made this the best video I have ever watched!!!! Tell me your not seeing him now 😂😂
What a solid looking router! Now that’s a spring, mate! Ha ha It seems like a good router if it will effectively spin those big bits! Thumbs up and Cheers! 👍😁🇺🇸
Good router. After 3 years of professional use under a table, the only issue I have had is the side handle height adjustment failed. I always found it a little clunky, eventually it stopped working. It runs off a plastic cog with plastic teeth which ended up failing. Not sure if it was user error or not. Other than that, it has been amazing, on second brushes now. I wish it didn’t break, but when it gives up the ghost, I will probably buy it again.
Awesome I've one of these in my router table for three years and never realised you could remove the spring. Never been able to lock the colette all this time. I've been pushing the button in with my finger. How stupid do I feel!!! Great info.
I've had my eyeball on that router for a good amount of time. I just learned a few more things about it from this video. I'm going to go ahead and give it my personal certification as the bestest router ever. And, along with that, I will be placing it on my list as a "must have" item. Now I must clean up my drool...
thank you for explaining the locking pin dilemma.Purchased it used attatched to a freud table and could not figure out why the base was hitting the pin and not lowering further.
10:12 Has anyone ever had the spring cap shatter? Or are we the only ones. The cap and spring hit the user in the eye and caused a momentary black out besides a huge black eye. Lucky no long term damage to vision, but for the shattered shards imbedded in the face and neck area from the shattered safety lenses. I hate that power tools are made of plastic - it eventually fails I suppose.. By the way same brand and model Triton.
Yikes, sounds nasty. I only use mine in a table so this will never happen to me thankfully. But that is a serious issue as there is a lot of force behind that spring and not a lot holding it in place. How old was the tool? Had it ever been dropped or knocked against the cap? Thanks for the comment, it will be interesting to see if anyone else has had the problem.
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL going to look at a used one tomorrow that’s got the workcentre the router and saw module plus loads of extras. So fingers crossed it’s all good. Router looks great. I’m a dewalt fan but I now want a router table so though I would give it a go.
What I meant is there an adapter for dust collection port? Usually the port on the tool for dust extraction will be male not female. Is there an adapter in the box?
Hi, just subscribed! Nice review, I just bought a used one. The pull knob to activate the fast turn feature seems to stick often and having trouble with the router going all the way down to activate the locking pin. Any suggestions?
When it's in the table, simply use the height adjusting tool to bring the bit all the way up above the table top to the mechanical stop. At that point, the spindle lock mechanism will engage automatically to prevent the spindle from turning. At the same time, the plastic switch guard will cover the switch, preventing the accidental (or purposeful) turning on of the machine. Use the wrench to loosen the collet, change out the bit, tighten the collet, use the height adjusting tool to lower the bit back down into the table to desired height. As the bit is lowered, the spindle lock is released. That frees the spindle and allows the power switch to be accessed once again.
@@agbeare Glad you sorted it out and sorry nobody answered before I did. It's so frustrating to ask a question on a forum or whatever and get nothing but crickets. Do you need a dedicated 20A circuit for this router? I have a Bosch RA1181 table and no lifts will drop into this table. If I upgrade to Jessem I would have to buy a table and fence system as well as the lift.
Dunno, haven't done it yet but should be pretty simple to drop in and push down with the cover, give it a twist to help lock in place and replace screw.

Same for me. The router wouldn't lift high enough to change the bit through the table. Winding assembly (plastic part) actually snapped and shot the handle across the room. Replaced mine with a Trend.
You can leave it in the ON position and plug it into a switched plug and turn it on and off there, but it is of course best to turn its own switch off when you're done with it for a while, just for safety's sake.
