  • Just a sneaky mid-weeker for a relax. No history, no bookshop hunting, just a walk and a look around. Please enjoy.

Hello Cheryl and Mark, talk about getting around, imagine my surprise when I spotted my old stomping grounds especially the Public Hall and the old Axedale Tavern and a local generational, farmers place. Thank you, Cheryl, Mark, Arthur and Rune for sharing the hi lights of Axedale with us, and to my knowledge there wasn't a Platypus compass sign when I used to frequent the area.
We rode our horses to the local shop for hot chips and then we would ride back home 7 km away, the back roads of course!!
    lovely to riminess.
    Cheers from Leeanne

This was a treat! How peaceful andbeautiful. I love the nature sounds and, watching the river. Also,a blue sky and sun!! We are living with an overcast sky for several weeks now and every day is grey and cold. Thank you for reminding that the sun does shine, even if I can't see it 🥰 That church is so beautiful!!! ❤️

      Good Morning Anne,
It is pleasing that you found this episode peaceful. We are thinking of perhaps filming and presenting a few more videos like this in future for everyone's peace of mind.
The sun is always there, Anne. Just remember, we do need those cloudy, rainy days so that the sun shines brighter when we do see it.
The church is extraordinary as it sits on a small hill, on its own. The tall palms leading from the pedestrian gate in a row to the church, show what once would have been for the parishioners - an impressive entrance and walk to their church and now, no longer used. It was a little eerie yet beautiful. There were masses of birds calling around the church. Sadly, I could not leave all the audio in the episode as a number of dogs living close to the church were barking madly. But the whole scene visually and audibly, was spine-tingling.
It was relaxing sitting by the river too.
      Happy reading and safe travels

What a beautiful spot 💚 the video was lovely and relaxing to watch. We’ve been to Eungella QLD a few times. It’s a platypus area. We never saw one but people who have been there at dusk have spotted them. We didn’t want to go at dusk though and get eaten alive by mozzies 😊

      Hello Sue!
Oh my, We are so pleased that you found this relaxing. Thank you for letting us know. It is always difficult filming and editing the travel type episodes because there are so many ways we can present them, and different viewers enjoy different things, so we are still in the stages of figuring the right recipe for everyone to enjoy (who knows, we may never get it exactly right). I think it is just a matter of doing what we think is peaceful or informative and then just go with that.
We had a number of Platypus in a lake/dam where we lived in Tasmania. It was a joy to watch them in the early morning or late in the evening. However, over the seven years we were there, they appeared to 'disappear', which saddened us greatly. This spot we found may just buoy our optimism, so we intend to keep an eye out over time to see if we can spot them.
Thank you, as always, for watching and supporting the channel. We appreciate it.
      Happy reading and safe travels

Loved this video. So relaxing and loved listening to the sounds of nature . Also your dogs are beautiful and walked so well on their leads unlike my two border collies who take me for a walk 😂

      Hello @sharonhill6184 and Good Afternoon,
The boys (all three!) are fairly good boys. They have their moments but overall, I can take them anywhere really.
I am pleased to know that you enjoyed this episode. It is really helpful to gain feedback so that we know what is working and what is not. We are still in the 'figuring out' and playing with the style of filming and editing stage, so thank you for the feedback. Perhaps next time we will get to see a Platypus!!
We hope you are well and enjoying the weather!
      Happy reading and safe travels

Wow such a tranquil video, thank you so much for sharing. Was this video done recently?. Great to see the Campaspe running during this dry time. Those homesteads are to die for, that bluestone is a ripper. (and the cemetery and fence) I bet those sheep are thankful for the farmer irrigating the land for them 🙂 Axedale is lovely, hopefully it wont get swallowed up by the Bendigo expansion. There is something about the setting sun on the Australian landscape.

      Hello Jill!
Gosh, we are sooooo pleased that you found this episode relaxing. Should we film more like this, do you think?
We filmed this late last week, so yes, recently. We were surprised to see the river running so well, considering we have not had rain for so long. Having said that, Bendigo and over to the East, have had more rain than us in the North. In fact, they have had rain, where we have not. Some of the homes are beautiful, particularly the old ones. There is something about the old Victorian-aged farmhouses. They have character and a certain patina to them that attracts my eye.
The setting sun is stunning here in Australia. There is no where in the World like it.
      Happy reading and safe travels

@@AustralianBookTravels-ii8iy would definitely love to see more videos like this, although, love all your videos. This one was very interesting as it was surprising to see how the landscape is still beautiful in the dry summer.

Right you are then! More such videos, it is! I agree - even though we curse the dry and the brown landscape at times, it does impress us how beautiful it really is, in its own way, particularly at sunrise and at sunset, when the wildlife makes the most of the cool of the day.
We are thinking of upgrading our equipment (camera) at some stage, so that I can zoom in to wildlife and other interesting and beautiful details to show you all. All in good time, I guess.
Stay cool Jill as I believe we are in for another few days of heatwave.

      Hello Peter and Jasper,
Happy to accommodate your subscription feed needs!! You are more than welcome.
We thought we would have this episode as just a bit of a relax. We hope it 'hit the spot'. The boys (all three of them) were on their almost, best behaviour. We look for improvement!
Take care in this horrendous heat. Hope Jasper is getting an ice-pop.
Happy reading and safe travels (although, again, we hope you are not travelling in this heat)
