You gotta turn - but the right way

  • This video is about the rotation in the golf swing. So many Golfers are struggling with the turn - why? First because they think the turn in a wrong way and and then they also do it too much. The issue of moving the head up and down, mostly is result of this as well. Thanks to the hula hoop tire, it's fantastic to visually demonstrate. In this video, I clarify why the head moves so much for many people, why the rotation is rather counterproductive for most. Take a look, I'm sure a penny or two will drop!
    Enjoy and have fun practicing !!

    I was a strong competitive tennis player but really struggled with golf until recently. After years of listening to golf professionals, reading books ,etc. my swing looked like I was trying to kill a poisonous snake with a club. It was so stiff, so inconsistent, I quit playing for years at a time out of frustration. Last year I decided to give it one more try by throwing out everything I had seen and heard about the golf swing and incorporate the natural feelings and motion of my tennis swing. Your video is the exact transition I ended up with. I was pleased to see the confirmation, as well as the positive results that have me enjoying the game for the first time in years.

    I am a one-armed golfer and I at times struggle with consistency of contact and direction, not with distance as many would assume (my drives often fly past 250). I think the main reason for this inconsistency is that I indeed often turn "the wrong way", which with my slightly less constrained biomechanics tends to happen even faster than with average players. But today I got back to making many pars again :)

    I agree with a previous comment. This is by far the best explanatory lesson on turning. Martina is a superb Coach also on other aspects of golf.

    I've been working on my shoulder turn since my last lesson in March and it just didn't feel right. Looked at tons of shoulder turn videos on youtube and still didn't feel right UNTIL I came across this one! Martina explains the shoulder turn like no other! Practiced at home for a few days per her drills then took it to the course this past weekend, what a difference!! THANK YOU MARTINA!!!!

    Martina - a great way to explain the difference between “turn” and “rotate” - especially when “shoulder down” is dismissed as
    S&T witchery and the “new way” is stay centered and turn/turn/turn hard! Love it!!!❤

      When I try shoulder down, shoulder pointing towards the ball, left next flexing down (slightly - hard to judge when I am swinging) - I feel like I always chunk and can't get through. Where am I going wrong here (obviously big question without giving video).

  • @3putt548
    @3putt548 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Well done Martina! Bravo! Excellent description of the turn. You are also showing a good example of early extension or coming out of the shot. Many amateurs including myself are guilty of that. Also, I really like the segment of what you are thinking as you address the ball. Not thinking turn but left shoulder down and than right shoulder down. I’m sure this video will be very helpful to a lot of people. Thank you!

    Thank you, I've been really struggling, this is something I can use. It feels more like I'm slapping the ball, weak hit starts right and keeps going more right.

    Hi Martina, Great instruction. I've used your turn/tilt method on the range after watching your video and the difference is amazing. I became too upright and was hitting from out to in. Now I'm more tilted at the waist and turning the shoulders on a steeper plain allowing the club to stay on plain on the downswing. The results are really good. It's easy to fall in to bad habits. I've had a few lessons over the years from various instructors but you are really clear. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Well done. Brian

    This is an excellent visual of the shoulder tilt…I saw a more technical version in which the actual angle of the shoulders, relative to the horizontal ground, of several top pros were measured and it was around 42 degrees in the backswing and 52 degrees in the downswing! Once you know that, you look at these pros in a different way!

    • @martina_eberl_coaching_en
      @martina_eberl_coaching_en  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Totally agree! I didn't know the numbers. 52 is more than I thought but very helpful, thanks!

    Have seen several videos of the turn like you show but never have really seen how bad it looks when it becomes too flat without staying in your posture. Excellent explanation when using the hula hoop. Will give it a try next outing 👍👍
