  • There’s an essential tool in Affinity Photo that most users ignore or pay little attention to. Don’t make this mistake. The often-forgotten Move Tool can be used to do many things, and in this video, we look at a few of them.
    Understanding how to work with the Move Tool in Affinity Photo will make your life easier. You can use it to change the perspective of an image, level horizons and rotate images. It’s also an essential tool when compositing photos from multiple images and layers. Let me explain a few of its many overlooked features.

    When hovering the mouse over the small line between the top middle move point and the rotation handle just above it, the mouse pointer changes to two small arrows (left and right). Click and drag (or Ctrl Drag) to shear (transform the image's angle). Same for all artistic texts

    Thanks for the hard work Robin. I use Move quite a bit as I do a lot of composite graphics for illustrating my walking guidebooks (routes, text, etc). But I didn't know about the modifier keys on the handles so that is handy to know.

      Glad to help. I can imagine they will be a huge benefit for graphics work.

    Just got your Essential Affinity 2 and the How-To Book, I can't wait to get it all down.

      Thanks for your support. Be sure to start with the Essential book before going on to the How To book. It's also worth going through them a couple of times as there's a lot more in the exercises than you first think.

      I'm glad it was helpful. It's so easy to miss all the options because many like the modifier keys are hidden.

    Excellent tutorial as always! Do you have also a tutorial in which you show how to create a white 4:5 background and how I can somehow automatically resize my photos (regardless of being shot in landscape or portrait orientation) to make them fit into this white background for uploading to IG? So the idea is to adapt the photo to the boarder, not the boarder to the photo. Some apps like InShot can do this but I would like to learn how to do it in AP. Thank you!

      I've done a video in the past showing how to do this but it was for Photoshop. I have it on my list to produce something similar for Affinity Photo. Hopefully I can get around to it soon.

    Underrated tools in an underrated photo editing software.

    Do you have a discount/affiliate code for AP 2 by any chance?

    • @RobinWhalley
      @RobinWhalley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry I don't have any discount codes although I have recewntly registered as an Affiliate given how much I like and use the software. There is however a Prize Draw running on my website at the moment (lenscraft.co.uk/lenscraft-members-area/subscriber-competitions/) to win a Universal License for all the Affinity products.

    Which video do I need to watch next?

    • @RobinWhalley
      @RobinWhalley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That really depends on what you want to achieve. But if you mean the one I mentioned at the end of the video it's this one th-cam.com/video/9e2wO0uXDgU/w-d-xo.html. It shows how I use the Convert to Curves button to create an artistic watermark and then convert it into a custom brush. You can then add it to any image with a single click.
