I have "Stay on My Side Tonight" tattooed on my left hip, and we played Hear You Me during my mother's memorial service... suffice to say, your music has played a huge role in my life. Futures will always be my fav album!!! ❤
This Album still breaks me in half when I listen to certain tracks. THANK YOU JIMMY EAT WORLD. For saving my life! You made me realize it was ok to feel lost and sad too. You got me through my divorce which was the lowest point in my life. I never felt so bad and I went off the rails. But your guy's music was the northern star of hope for my Future and I'm out the other side now thankfully and it's all down to you! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You ... for being the best band in the world xx Chris All the way from the UK💓💓
Futures is one of my favourite albums of all time. If someone asked me which albums had a huge impact on you at a vulnerable time in my life- when I was in university and I'd just begun to meet some new people coming out of a rather crappy high school experience- I'd name this album as a personal favourite. Easily in my top 3-5 favourites based on its unique sound and profound themes in your lyrics, its importance for so many fans... It's one of a kind. I could never get tired of listening to it ❤ my fav tracks are: 23, Pain, Work, Kill, Polaris, The World You love. Thank you for the wonderful music you put out, it really means a lot to many people 🙌🏻
Damn, I love you guys. You bring people together in the most beautiful ways and were a big part of my late school and college years. I even got to see you live just once in South Africa which was amazing. 23 is still one of my favourite songs and I'm glad I'm listening to you again, but with so much more experience and perspective to draw on. Your songs are even more relevant and inspirational today and there aren't really any bands like you out there.
I didn’t expect to click on the notification so fast… wish I could be in Arizona on the 17th, it is my birthday 🎂 To mimic the other fans Futures changed my life in a impactful way. I was in an incredibly dark place battling the Dark Knight of the soul & this album gave me clarity, recognizing that I was not alone in what I felt. After the passing of my son on my birthday to experiencing harsh realities every album you’ve ever made has helped me along my journey giving me the courage to do what makes me happy. Thank you Jimmy Eat World, you guys are legendary ❤
Happy birthday (on the 17th)!!🎉 I agree with you that their music has helped me cope with the ups and downs of adult life. I'm in AZ and I'm trying to figure out how to arrange to go to the show... I want to go so much!!! I did see that they're doing some kind of live streaming... so maybe that's something you can do as a bday gift for yourself 😃🥳
This record came out when I needed nothing more. Right after my first break up. I listened to it from front to back and it truly felt like I wasn’t alone. You guys will forever be my favourite band. The Middle is only the first of many layers to Jimmy Eat World. The deeper you go, the greater the spark. Priceless.
The title track used to wake me up everyday at university as I had a CD alarm clock! Remember those? From another life! 😂 but futures was an ultimately uplifting track for me, whereas the tone in Polaris, 23, Kill, and Shame were darker and I connected more emotionally with at the time, and still do!
@@Maxwellio yes they certainly made it more dark. But I love the line “I hope for better in November” referring to the upcoming election, and can’t say things have got much better since….
To this day still my favorite album you guys have made and one of my top all time. It's a masterpiece from start to finish! I've seen you live 12 times now and can't want to see you again when you come back to Sacramento or the bay!
I don’t think y’all will see this but I lost my very good friend to fentanyl (and he was a fan of yours too!) a few years ago. And you’ve helped me process it through several relistens to this album. I love you guys so much. You look great
Nicole from Sydney…….ahhhh I was at the Enmore show and Disintegration blew me away. Almost my favourite gig ever. Fell off my seat when I heard your comment so had to mention.
Great to hear from you guys. I think of you in a little subset with Fountains of Wayne and Nada Surf, gems in an area that Foo Fighters seem to dominate but you guys really bring some fresh oxygen with you. I really got into you when I bought this odd but lovely and a bit cheeky Telecaster in a beautiful Merlot colour. A 50s Les Paul dressed as a Telecaster and a semi too. My two favourite guitars in one. I just came to the successful end of a bad run with my car, a beautiful convertible Mercedes and I'm looking for something triumphant to play tomorrow with the roof down and Futures it will be. I really love the way you find a positive message and make it cool when it's rarely cool to be bravely positive. Wow, people really love this album don't they, I can hardly wait.
Were there any songs on Futures that you weren’t sure of? Did you have to convince the rest of the band? Or any songs you dropped off the record during the recording process?

It is so heartwarming to hear bunch of random people around the world(states) connect over the same album
Futures is my number 1 album of all time. Its one of my first albums and really helped solidify my love of music!
20 years later and your music still gives me goosebumps. Hello from Ensenada, México.
I have "Stay on My Side Tonight" tattooed on my left hip, and we played Hear You Me during my mother's memorial service... suffice to say, your music has played a huge role in my life. Futures will always be my fav album!!! ❤
Just reading the song title for Hear You Me makes me emotional 😢
It was also so kind of you all to open the floor for us fans to share our thoughts, connections, and stories. The Phoenix Sessions were so special.
"Hardest record we ever had to make," and you nailed it.

This is by far my favorite album of all time. It is pure magic encapsulated into one record. Thanks guys!

Waited for it to drop, and still playing in my house today! ❤
Congrats on a brilliant record, guys! Here's to twenty more years!
5:57 - Rare song "Jen" mentioned!
I remember that song but have lost it!

Best album! Polaris, 23, Kill, Shame are my healers!!!
Not to mention the title track!

I love that album. It's so much of the music that defines my wife and mine time dating & getting married. it brings back so many great memories.
To this day still my favorite album you guys have made and one of my top all time. It's a masterpiece from start to finish! I've seen you live 12 times now and can't want to see you again when you come back to Sacramento or the bay!
One of my favourite albums of all time. Beautiful!
Love you guys I listen to your music everyday
Futures got me here into October 2024 the future. With you guys my youth would've been very dull and commercial ❤ thanks for coming to Melbourne
Well that hard work really paid off because this is certainly one of my favorite albums of all time. Thanks for the music and for sharing this chat!
My favorite album ❤ 💿 thank you J.E.W.

A special album that came at a difficult time in my life. Thanks for helping me get through it.
Still remember buying this when it came out, couldn't believe how much you guys knocked it out the park after Bleed American
Nicole from Sydney…….ahhhh I was at the Enmore show and Disintegration blew me away. Almost my favourite gig ever.

I love Futures very much, I echo the people in the comments saying its their favs. Hope for more music soon guys!
In 2005 Quart festival Norway I was in the front row and saw you guys. Rick you waved at me a couple of times I remember this like it was yesterday!
love this album
I need a futures tour 😭😭😭

Where did the last 20 years go? The Futures album is like a time machine
Well, it does have the phone box...
I miss when you got real paper tickets to gigs that you could keep as souvenirs forever. Now you just get tickets emailed. It's not the same.
is this the emmys, i nominate all 4 of you
Why do I feel like the guitarist who is the most quiet, has the most to say?!
How the hell do they look the exact same as 25 years ago 😭 (also, not a single bad song on Futures)
Were there any songs on Futures that you weren’t sure of? Did you have to convince the rest of the band? Or any songs you dropped off the record during the recording process?
Never old .. vampires
Did you record on the Trident A-Range at Cello?
Who took the longest time to track his instrument?
Clarity has always been my favorite and now Futures has overtaken that spot. Great bands can do this.
jim doesn't age or what
the music in back makes it hard to hear what ur all saying
That will depend upon your sound setup. It's fine for me.
