    I got the original 737 for $100 in U.S. It came in very handy through my recent Pakistan trip where power was intermittent! Charging multiple GoPros, phone, and microphones. Very occasionally my laptop. I can’t imagine needing to charge at over 100W. So I’m still very happy with the previous model for anyone thinking about the new model.

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s amazing! Yeah the 737 is still a great buy and with enough power for most people. Plus I’ve seen it get discounted now that the Prime lineup has launched. Thanks for watching! ✌🏻

    The reason for the USB-A port is I believe due to a number of USB-C devices not supporting the PD standard for charging.
    When they are plugged into a USB-C PD port, no negotiation takes place, and they fail to charge. They come with a USB-A to USB-C cable for that reason.

    • @duppa

      Thanks - always wondered why my devices that come with a USB-A to USB-C cable would never charge with just USB-C

    Leave the A port alone. People still use legacy devices even in today's world.

      Yes that’s why I like it, but I’m still disappointed that it doesn’t have three usb c ports. For the price it definitely could have had three c and one a.

      Strong agree.
      There are also a bunch of USB-c devices that don't have the resistor for PD default, and will not charge when plugged into another USB C port. Mostly cheaper stuff, but the whole Anbernic line suffers from this.
      In these cases, USB-A is an absolute necessity.

    • @MrFastFox666
      @MrFastFox666 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lev3k there's two expensive devices I own that are like this. I can't remember what one of them is right now, but the other is DJI's remotes for the DJI Avata. Both the motion controller and the FPV controller charge through USB C, but they don't activate USB C chargers, and each controller is like $150 IIRC. it's ridiculous.

    I am very happy that it still has a USB Type A port , cause I am sure they would not put 3 USB Type C anyway , so better to have it there , and if you still have an older device with MicroUSB , it could work with the original charging cable , I know there is also Type C to MicroUSB but not everyone has one of those

    • @JCKRGB

    • @funbucket09
      @funbucket09 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ArenaDigitala same with me. While I love USB C, I've ammased a considerable amount of tech I'm not willing to part ways with from the pre-C era (plus think of the senseless e-waste decommissioning it just for the port!).
      Many people will still need an A port for a number of years. At a random totally uneducated guess, I would say at least 5 more years (possibly 10) before the technology using the A ports becomes completely obsolete. Even longer for specialist hardware. Look at how many professional/industrial components still need a DB9 (serial) port!

    Would love to see you make a comparison of all the prime banks and do a thorough review of the actual efficiency of these banks. A lot of reviewers aren't touching on that and taking the mAh at face value. What are we really getting? 82% 90% of the capacity?

    • @doxic5574
      @doxic5574 ปีที่แล้ว

      More like 60%... about 40% is lost due to heat and energy transfer. So on the 737 which has a 24K mAh capacity, you're only gonna get about 13-14K mAh in reality

  • @michaelklein23
    @michaelklein23 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I don't mind the A port as there are some devices even recent ones that come with a type c to a cable to protect the battery life apparently like my Marshall Middleton bt speaker. That being said I would've liked an extra type C port AND I hate the bigger glossy front part, I feel like they could've just made it a little bigger to accommodate the bigger screen but those tend to scratch easy and like you said are fingerprint magnets.

    Just bought the 250W Prime Power Bank to re-charge my DJI Mini 3 Pro. I have 5 batteries but even that isn't enough to keep on shooting all day, I have tried in car charging, inverters etc etc but they rely on my car running. I am hoping this will be able to double my 'on the go' battery availability - as I paid £147 which would be the cost of 2 extra drone batteries and I am hoping this will keep all 5 topped up ready to go making it better value than buying another 5 drone batteries. Fingers crossed.

    Let's call it what it is - almost $100 per USB-C charging port. You could buy ten Anker 313 10k power banks for the same price and have charging ports for DAYS and 4x the capacity. The true value of this brick is the 140w output port, but even the biggest laptop battery will only charge to 30-40% before quickly slowing down to something in the 50w range.

    I think the black color of the 737 is less noticeable for dirt.
    I think that three USB-C ports would have been good.
    The Prime Power Bank's support for application integration is advanced because it ensures a high level of expandability.

    great review and excellent production quality, will note one thing though the reason Anker and other manufacturers still include a USB A port is many devices still have USB A to USB C cable and not USB C to C. So, without a USB A port many peoples devices that have the original cable which is USB A to C (or proprietary) would be out of luck. It keeps everyone able to use the power bank as much as possible and not restrict it to purely USB C devices.

    I carried a massive OmniCharge Ultimate. I could charge laptops, dslrs, DJI drones, fpv quad lipos, plus the whole outlet. At one point there was a black out in the summer and I was using it to power the tv and a fan lol. The best part is I could swap the battery part out so it was technically modular.
    While I love my 737 and often get near 100w charging my handheld pc, I just feel like upgrading are pretty wasteful especially at that price lol. If they could put the whole smart system on user replaceable batteries I would be willing to spend a fair amount even if it were just usb c. Everything’s usb c these days!

    Where on the battery is capacity written?
    Every time I go through airport security in many Asian countries, such as Thailand, they must check the capacity for carry-on items. They must see the text.
    Anker usually has the capacity written on the side of the battery. This text is however ridiculously small and illegible. Not only is the text miniscule but colored in the same color as the battery pack, only slightly darker. I’ve forwarded this feedback to the product design team, because I don’t understand.
    Are they trying to keep this info secret? Is it a design choice? Do they think larger text looks bad? It’s just strange to not show this important information abundantly clear. So Anker, please make the job for airport security all over the world easier by improving the display of battery capacity on the battery.

    Nothing wrong with including USB A --- what's weird is only having 2 USB C ports and no wireless charging. I guess it's a tradeoff for size/weight/price, but tbh it's already pretty large and flagship priced. Most people looking to buy this would almost go for a slightly bigger footprint and a bit extra on the price tag for just 1 or 2 more USB C ports.

    The 737 is currently sold for 104 euros and the 27k is sold for 134 euros here in italy altough they just came in recently and had their price respectively lowered from the original 160 and 180 ... One thing that is annoying is that the charging base is nowhere to be seen in italy, and Anker doesn't ship to anywhere else than the US, so yeah....
    P.S. i bought a couple 27k's and both have the problem where in the app, if you configure a device that is 17000 mah it will say that it will charge it only 1 time; also, if you create a device that has the same identical battery capacity as the 27k itself, wich is 27650 mah, it will say that it can charge it only 0.6 times, something is definitely wrong here, it might be a software problem altough as of today there is no update or fix in sight

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahh I hope bring out the charging base for you in Italy, it’s great add on!
      As for the charging estimates, mine says the same, it’s not a bug. You won’t get a full charge for another device with say a 27k capacity as there’s always a loss of power through heat and other factors, it can’t be 100% efficient.
      It’s the same with all batteries and power banks. That’s why having it here is useful, it actually gives you an idea for how many charges you’ll get! Not seen that before on a power bank! ✌🏻

    Why oh why does it still have an A-port? Because there are people who also use devices that don't have a USB-C connection? Or is it because manufacturers know that there are a lot of people who have USB-A to micro-USB, or USB-A to mini-USB cables for their older devices that are still used? I have a specialized device that functions stand-alone for months using this powerbank through a USB-B port and I'm thankful that they didn't cancel the A-port on their newer products.

    Wireless means there would be a lack of a 'physical' connection and contact. Wireless charging will transmit through things, much like a case on a phone. 737 given you decent capacity. This has what, 10% extra capacity, but cost nearly 2x? (Approx £95 regularly in the UK vs £179 for the new one).
    Having more smart functionality is great, it's just it could do with being on a bigger format. Being limited to 99wh means at peak usage of 250W, you'd drain in 20 or so mins

    • @mspencer5519
      @mspencer5519 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's also about 5% heavier at nearly 0.67kg. Got my 737 just the other day after comparing the price.
      Nice tool for those wanting more features. Imo the features beyond the charging is just gimmicky. Guess some will love it though.
      I'd jus get the basic 737 140w for charging, save the rest on eventually getting an ecoflow pro or similar.
      It's telling the early Amazon ratings is around 4.1 out of 5. Much lower than the 140w old version.

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah 737 is still a great purchase and will do for most people’s needs. And often discounted. Prime 250W is for anyone who really needs that extra output.
      New Bluetooth features come in useful, especially the charging estimates. The only gimmicky feature for me is the Find Device, I just don’t see how you could lose something this big 😄 Now if it could integrate with Apple’s Fine My network, that would be really cool.. and make it findable beyond Bluetooth range. Thanks for watching! ✌🏻
