I think there should be less star posts. Like the game is too heavy on attaining the emeralds early. It made gameplay kind of choppy. The overall game does look good and I love the concept.
I've noticed the bosses in this suffer from "Megaman Unlimited" Syndrome. In that most of the bosses only have so many opportunities for you to attack them, unlike in the original game where you could swing at them to your heart's desire. I hate fangames in general that do that, because it slows everything down.
I understand having bosses that require strategy, but when ALMOST EVERY BOSS has a very small window of opportunity to do damage (I'd understand a couple) it does get annoying.
I would imagine that in boiling labyrinth Sonic would have to worry more about being boiled to death by the scalding water rather than drowning. And the air bubble would just be very cold to cool him off temporarily.
I noticed that your rings "boil" away in the Labrynth Zone when you're under water. Agree that the water should look....more boiling! Also, this still technically a demo? What other stuff is to be added? More levels for Flame Yard? Anyways, can't wait to see how the final will be....and someone will get burned!
Probably unique assets, since the zones and most of the assets in them are pulled directly from sonic 1, the special stages are 16-bit versions of the special stages from the 8-bit version of sonic 1, the super peel-out animations are pulled from sonic CD, the way you enter special stages is the same as in sonic 2, and the burning sonic sprite is just a recoloured super sonic, in both gameplay and design. One of the few new things besides level design and bosses is those blue springs that just give you a slight boost.

The hack is fairly well polished. I'd hope some of the wall glitches (notably falling into the circulating dial in Molten Brain) and other edge catches are phased out. That's nitpicking on my part. Boss fights are imaginative and deserve more credit. I enjoy the "mega"/oversized versions of regular bad guys, but admittedly, the non-track fights could be a little more challenging in terms of patterns or speeding up their cycles that way the bosses can be drawn out longer. People aren't patient and Sonic isn't slow, so adding a few more hit points & driving the pace forward would be a good option. I'd also see if you can correct the ring total after using a post. In one version or another, you lose all your rings after completing them (don't remember if it is only successfully or not). That way, every post can't be hit in one run of the level unless you take the time to get every set of 50 rings. Music was okay. For a Sonic 1 game, I can't be overly harsh. Sound bites were clear. BG music lackluster, but fit the Genesis era capability I supppose. 3/5. PROs: Innovative wheel/track bosses, interesting special stage, well detailed backgrounds, decent level design & boss concepts. CONs: Overall difficulty mediocre/okay, BG music poor, can easily gamebreak with Fire Sonic (if obtained early).
personally the bosses need more unique phases and attacks, but tbh idgaf. Anyway, since I noticed this, SCD's walk/jog felt unnatural in game, and S1 seemed more natural and fluid. And the music could maybe just have S3D or S1 or S3's instruments to make it better, I recommend using Dual PCM for that. Sprite-wise, it'd be better if all sprites were at least slighty remastered, and if Burning Sonic was more S1-like. Music-wise, the final boss theme and boss, as well as Metal can maybe have some more panic and leitmotifs to the main theme. You know what, I'll just put it on the trailer later to explain more.
There wasn't Dual PCM when we were working on it. About the musics, Luigi is aware of that and he's going to remaster the tracks he did. For the sprites - it was told me (I can't confirm it tho as I'm very poor artist) that these sprites are a mix of S1, SCD & S2, so it fits the game's concept and stuff.
Painto Seems good, just add a more of a panic vibe in the original tracks, and make the tracks from other Sonic games be more original and panic-like (but maybe not Sky Fortress Act 2, that's fine).
I'll just put this here as improvement for Scorched Quest. Names for zones: Inflamed Valley (GHZ) Burning Arena (SYZ) Molten Metallium/Madness/Metal (SBZ ACT1+2) Space Plant (SBZ ACT3) Extra: Blazing Bridge (BZ) Ingulfed Jungle (JZ) Dormant Ship (SkyBaseZone(it's before SBZ ACT3(basically a transition))) New Gimmicks: *Never earn the blue emerald until a certain event.* When the 6 are collected, Blazing Sonic (basically normal Super and access to true final/second boss) is unlocked. In the first final/fake boss at the end you achieve the blue emerald, becoming Scorching Sonic (basically Hyper but instead of Airdash you get a Drop Dash (or instashield if too hard to program '^-^') that kills everything on screen (when landing for DropDash, for insta, well i guess you get it.). However you charge this with rings. 2 rings each time you use it. This form is in the true final boss, and can be accessed in acts/zones after defeating that boss and accessing level select. (or not, your choice) Fixed/Altered Story: * Story Symbol Legend * (SHCscene#) = Numbered slide (on the screen) in the SHC demo (NewScene#) = Newly made slide for story extension [ ] = The New slide appearance description. (SHCscene1) Metallic Madness was tiring to destroy for that blue spiker, so Sonic decided on a break back on his land of South Island. But unknown to Sonic, something was already back there... (SHCscene2) As Robotnik had hid away once again, he researched a small gem a townsfolk had told him about. Something that he should've had as his backup plan the first time he was on South Island. (SHCscene3) Mysterious MacGuffins he was told, these MacGuffins being the BURNT GEMSTONES. Harnessing could cause a whole outbreak of flames, meaning total control of its area. Surviving from the flames? Not impossible. (NewScene1) [Robotnik in the computer area, but now not looking at his computer screen (in SegaSonic, there is a sprite for that.)] "Oh how this will be revolutinary. But the doctor was having more feelings than that. (SHCscene6) Happily the doctor laughed a jester's laugh, but something began to suck his sanity away. Never able to notice, he was ready to kill that blue spiker... (SHCscene7) As Sonic landed, he realized the flickies were gone, but one remained alone. Suddenly Sonic heard a scream. A flicky scream. Main Gimmick: *You can't go inside the boss, as it will bounce you back.* (maybe add the boss hit sound effect from sonic triple trouble for bounceback) Boss Attack Extention: LEGEND= [ ] = new boss area description (EA) = Extra Attack to the boss pattern GHZ1: The crab enters from the right like in the SHC2016 build, and the crab will be in front of a waterfall, move left, then shoot projectiles that bounce 5 times, but on the 3rd the projectiles exit the screen, and on the 4th and 5th you see them behind the waterfall, and the crab move to the left off-screen. Same applies to when he's behind the waterfall, but now opposite. BHZ2: [A bridge with a waterfall underneath.] When the camera locks in place, GigaTron appears underneath on left, and shoots at you, dissappears, reappears on the right, shoots again, disappears, does the sliding move but shoots out Choppers. BHZ3: (EA) Metal will teleport to the middle of the screen, begin electricuting himself, then combust 8 flames, and overdrive of screen, reseting his pattern. BHZBOSS: (EA) When you hit him, Robotnik will emit the unused flame thing from Sonic 2's Hill Top. (to be continued)

This hack is amazing! it deserved it's medals for this year's hacking contest with amazing bosses, cool levels, Burning Sonic, The best special stages that are even better than Blue sphere and so much more! Tho why does Burning Sonic transforms back into Sonic then back INTO Burning Sonic? How does it work?
It's detransformation feature. It allows you to cancel the form if you for example want to save some rings before a hard section in which the form will wear out leaving you without rings. I'll be changing it to a better button combination in the final release.

I'm reserving judgement of this game until it's finished. When the final comes out i'll give it a go but until then, I want nothing to do with it. I'm tired of playing betas, builds and pre-finals of games, I want a finished bug-free product to enjoy. But from what i've seen of this game, it's heading in a good direction.

Painto, can you please add some boss fights from your other hack, Dr. Eggman's Plan B? Trust me, it'll spice up the bosses instead of it being dull. And please add back the old miniboss theme, it'll really sound like trouble is afoot. I completely understand if you say no. Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Fire, and oversized badniks as minibosses doesn't seem fun for others. Just spice it up. (This is a recommendation, again, I will understand if it's a no).
So, when he transforms I noticed that he loses his transformation sometimes without losing all his rings, is that just an intentional design about how his body can't handle the power or are you just able to step out of the form?
The egg tank and the wrecking is quite simple, egg tank, avoid spike balls and bounce bouncy bombs to eggman. Wrecking ball, the wrecking ball will throw up to the sky and drops down, what you need to do is find a red spring that exsplodes when you bounce on it, when it came down to the red spring the wrecking ball will bounce to eggman. Quike tip, the egg tank is a running boss. The red spring will anywhere and don't get hit by a wrecking ball.

(SHCscene3) Mysterious MacGuffins he was told, these MacGuffins being the BURNT GEMSTONES. Harnessing could cause a whole outbreak of flames, meaning total control of its area. Surviving from the flames? Not impossible.
(NewScene1) [Robotnik in the computer area, but now not looking at his computer screen (in SegaSonic, there is a sprite for that.)] "Oh how this will be revolutinary. For once, I WILL WIN WITH SONIC BURNING UP IN FLAMES! And the best bit, that spiker will NEVER STAND IN MY WAY AGAIN! HOHOHOHO!" Robotnik laughed, jesterily.
(SHCscene4) As Robotnik prepared his portal he thought it would never fail. But something wouldn't make it open. He tried to fix it, but nothing. Tried to refill the power, nothing. It was all a waste of time and metal
(SHCscene5) Infuriated, he unleashed his rage, breaking his machine. Suddenly it begin to combust. Robotnik wasn't scared, but then it lit on fire, with him in it. Suddenly it came to him. "WHY AREN'T I BURNING?" he thought. And out it came.
(NewScene2) [Look for spinning chaos emerald sprites, I think Sonic R or Advance have one. Colour it blue, and put it on the first Special Stage Background.] The first Burnt Gemstone, spinning right in his hand. It had fired all of his equipment, but one shall do he thought. But the doctor was having more feelings than that.
(SHCscene6) Happily the doctor laughed a jester's laugh, but something began to suck his sanity away. Never able to notice, he was ready to kill that blue spiker...
(SHCscene7) As Sonic landed, he realized the flickies were gone, but one remained alone. Suddenly Sonic heard a scream. A flicky scream. As the Blue Blur he was, he was about to embark on a journey that could deterimine the fate of South Island.

GHZ1: The crab enters from the right like in the SHC2016 build, and the crab will be in front of a waterfall, move left, then shoot projectiles that bounce 5 times, but on the 3rd the projectiles exit the screen, and on the 4th and 5th you see them behind the waterfall, and the crab move to the left off-screen. Same applies to when he's behind the waterfall, but now opposite.
BHZ2: [A bridge with a waterfall underneath.] When the camera locks in place, GigaTron appears underneath on left, and shoots at you, dissappears, reappears on the right, shoots again, disappears, does the sliding move but shoots out Choppers.
BHZ3: (EA) Metal will teleport to the middle of the screen, begin electricuting himself, then combust 8 flames, and overdrive of screen, reseting his pattern.
BHZBOSS: (EA) When you hit him, Robotnik will emit the unused flame thing from Sonic 2's Hill Top.

This hack is amazing! it deserved it's medals for this year's hacking contest with amazing bosses, cool levels, Burning Sonic, The best special stages that are even better than Blue sphere and so much more! Tho why does Burning Sonic transforms back into Sonic then back INTO Burning Sonic? How does it work?
It's detransformation feature. It allows you to cancel the form if you for example want to save some rings before a hard section in which the form will wear out leaving you without rings. I'll be changing it to a better button combination in the final release.

Sadly, I've never worked with fangames, only ROM hacks, so I can't recommend anything.

Painto, can you please add some boss fights from your other hack, Dr. Eggman's Plan B? Trust me, it'll spice up the bosses instead of it being dull. And please add back the old miniboss theme, it'll really sound like trouble is afoot. I completely understand if you say no. Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Fire, and oversized badniks as minibosses doesn't seem fun for others. Just spice it up. (This is a recommendation, again, I will understand if it's a no).
Commendable boss battles made for this game, everything else particularly the sound is rahter hit and miss - good playthrough though

Deleted/unused bosses beeshooter, metal sonic, the wrecking ball returns, metal sonic and egg tank.
If you think metal sonic was not a unused boss, wrong! It's part of fire light and flame yard.
The egg tank and the wrecking is quite simple, egg tank, avoid spike balls and bounce bouncy bombs to eggman. Wrecking ball, the wrecking ball will throw up to the sky and drops down, what you need to do is find a red spring that exsplodes when you bounce on it, when it came down to the red spring the wrecking ball will bounce to eggman. Quike tip, the egg tank is a running boss. The red spring will anywhere and don't get hit by a wrecking ball.
And don't even think about saying "I came in like a wrecking ball!" Okay?
