The cuffs have come off. The weather is perfect and the topwater fishing season has just kicked off in New Zealand. The plan is to head wide to an offshore island that is surrounded by big fish habitat. Wash rocks, steep drop-offs, and tonnes of current. Big stick baiting rods and reels are rigs and ready to do tangle with the Yellowtail Kingfish.

Hey Nato and Milan, this action is epic, is it possible to get a tackle run down In the future, for say your Kingi Long rod, popper rod, live bait rod, snapper setups? Obviously all the top quality daiwa! But reel sizes etc might help some viewers wanting to get into it like you guys! Cheers :)

The best advice I can give you is first work out how much money you want to spend? Once you have that number then Daiwa will make a set up close to that price point. AS ALWAYS, you get what you pay for but, we thrashed the BG reel and it’s sweet. Milan has caught 6 good king fish on the saltiest MQ and we can’t fault that reel to. So don’t feel like you have to buy a saltiga. Thanks for watching my man 😎👍😁

Hello. Good to see your back to full health and enjoying yourselves. I’m wondering what your top water setup is? I’ve got a lot of issues with my setup and I can’t seem to gain much distance. Probably 35 metres at the most, you guys seem to cast to the horizon and beyond. Is this just a illusion created by the camera? Apologies for the 1 million questions, I’ve got 1 million more.
It definitely looks like we cast a lot further on camera then it is but at a guess I’d say the biggest casts would be around the 80 meter mark? But again that’s a guess! A lot of your cast distance can be a well weighted lure that flys well. I would start there by trying a few different lures before I would look at new gear.
We mostly use big Saltigas and saltiga rods. But there is gear at less of a price point that would do just as good 😎

S106MH, tried it out and casts like a dream from 18g slugs to 65g rapala xrap long cast from the rocks 👍

now thats wat TLL is all bout, big kings n gud mates. been trying to get to NZ for the last 3 years to chase the NZ kings n snaps. land base head lands is the main target then a few days in a boat will finish the 2 weeks sojourn to NZ home of the big kings n snaps. hopefully some time next year.
