3 Free Things To Do In Galveston Island, Texas

- Who doesn't like the word FREE? I know I do. It's hard though to find things to do for free when you're on vacation or wanting to visit a new city. That's why my husband and I decided to do this video.
We wanted to share our favorite 3 Free Things to do in Galveston Texas.
1) The ferry from Galveston to Port Bolivar. Many people don't realize that this ferry is free. Passengers are welcome along with vehicles on this voyage. With 18 min to cross the channel over to Port Bolivar, you can enjoy the views and even do some dolphin spotting.
2) Walking along the Strand. Historical downtown Galveston, also known as the Strand is fun and eclectic place to take a stroll. With all of the boutique shops and quirky stores, you can get plenty of window shopping in. Check out some of the beautiful architecture .
3) Galveston Island is after all an island. Walking the Sea Wall and enjoying the beach is always nice. My husband and I like to go down to the beach for some drone flying and a friendly game of Bocce Ball.

I stay away from the Strand as much as I can because you're a strap that strand is a good thing but it's pretty much for the people that come off the ship that a whiten their import and I get it but now I have found years ago things that I buy at the Straz sooner or later it all ends up in the garage sale so I don't feel it now if I want some good what are some salt water taffy I know where to go
My mic is messing up read between the lines please and but of course I have to sometimes go to the store and have some fudge

@@helenboula3538 Cruises do not start until until July 2nd. When they do- best to stay from the Strand. You know it will be crazy for awhile/

The best part about the ferry ride is absolutely the dolphins! If the water is rough, be sure to stand back from the bow unless you'd like a shower!
Porch cafe and Bistro you can get rather wet. The day we went it was pretty hot, so we didn’t mind the spray.
As a Galveston resident things not mentioned are you have to pay for parking on the Strand and Sea Wall and many other areas in the island. Best free beach are is going to be Galveston Island State Park it's got picnic tables and not as heavily crowded or go to Bolivar peninsula

Galveston island is a beautiful island in the summertime. We’re only about 30 minutes away from it. If you have a chance check out Moody Gardens and the seawall.

We like to walk to the pier and watch the cruise ships head out wishing we were on one. Ha ha. It’s been awhile since we we’ve been on a cruise.

We were on the Carnival Ecstasy about 10 years ago with our 2 kids, then 2 years ago my husband and I went on the Carnival Freedom with my mom, because it was on her bucket list. I liked the Freedom.

Yes they are! you do have to keep them on a leash though.

Yes we are. We live in the suburb of Houston about 30 minutes away from Galveston Island.
You have to pronounce Bolivar correctly: Ball- Live- VER. You cannot pass go if you cannot pronounce that correctly. Natives know- the chic doing this film is not a native

Play living Cypress it is around Houston and we're probably on a good day about an hour little over an hour from Galveston we have our RV that sleeps 10 with a great grandchildren we all take off and go down there and we'll go to the park and find the lazy river and wheel of Galveston a better car so you can all go to the Tran so many times it's all about the children anyway and I have myself in the kitchen on the Shelf outside I mean I don't need to go to those restaurants that have y'all have I can do just as well as they can access to go to R&R and the kids on the beach and I want to find a place down there I want to find a little hole so I can go crabbing and shrimp and that's what I want to do. The kids are either at the beach or on the lazy river and I'm in the are they laid back watching TV laying on my lazy ass doing nothing just loving the ace and the quiet and my little space that I get from time to time is precious time is precious LOL we absolutely loved album them there so much to do for the children and grown-ups as well
That sounds amazing. It is such a blessing to spend time like that with family. I've always lived near the water, but it's been a very LONG time since I've gone crabbing or shrimping. Sounds like the perfect little "Staycation" to me.
But you have to pay for the toys and food😂
We just played in the store, we didn't buy anything. The food was just extra 😉
