    Nice review, thanks! I own this bike (2020 edition with ABS): great, nimble and funny bike with only one problem - replacing battery takes really long time. It's unbelievably difficult!

    had this engine in my 500x when i first passed my test, found it a good manageable speed to learn my craft before stepping up to larger cc. Im a nodder, sometimes a wave , sometimes a leg out or a flash of my headlight to a large group, its the bikers code of respect of being one family, good video as always, good luck to your wife on taking her test.

      Great video!

  • @CoelhoSports
    @CoelhoSports 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i had a custom (CM450) a long time ago, the predecessor to this. i loved the soft beagle growl, smooth ride, handling, and comfortable riding position. i used to think up excuses to go out and ride it, sometimes getting up in the middle of the night to go for a little ride. many people have a cliche expectation of what a bike is supposed to sound and look like, but if you forget all that and just get on it, those bikes are fun rides.

    • @TommyBarnezTV

    Cool now if Honda could only develop a more traditional looking CB 500 we would be in business!

    • @DustinTavo
      @DustinTavo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be cool but not a rebel. There’s really only two really good looking bikes on the market. This is one of them. Then you move up to the kind of dorky looking couches, or the bikes that look like a ugly compacted ant. And sport bikes which just don’t do it for me at all. Rebels are so cool hopeful for the 1100.

    I learned how to ride on this bike last year! And this is the bike i will get being a new rider! My friends keep telling to to get a 600 and higher! I just want to get a round the city or do a trip for the weekend camping!!no need for speed at my age! This is a great Video! Thank you Mate!

    • @TommyBarnezTV
      @TommyBarnezTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice one! Whatever you get you'll always have people saying you should get something different, higher cc, different riding position etc but the only thing that matters is that its the right bike for your needs and you've learnt on one and thought it through so I'd say go for it. You can always change for a different bike further down the line if there is ever a point it doesn't fit your needs. Welcome to the biking world! If you like bike camping vids you might enjoy my 100 subscriber special vid where I end up camping in -3 😂

    I love the look and sound of this motorbike. Would you recommend this as my first motorbike?

    Thanks and great video, nicely done!

    • @TommyBarnezTV
      @TommyBarnezTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers! Would both be great first bike choices I think. I havent ridden the T120 but have ridden other triumphs which are good. My advice would be to check them both out, see which one feels right for you. If you sit on them both and have a ride I'm sure one or the other will come out as the winner in your mind. If not there are always others to look at :) I think the key to a first bike is to get one fully suited to what you want to use it for, that way you'll ride it a good amount

    For anyone wondering I'm like 6'1 maybe a bit taller or about 1.85 meters for the metric folks and I'm like 98 percent sure I'm getting one of these tomorrow and I get pretty comfortably on it my legs weren't higher than the tank since it's got a nice incline to it my only complaint would be the keys go in the side rather than under the speedometer like youd see on older model rebels and the seat is nowhere near as comfortable as the older models as well but it's not a deal breaker it gives it a solid feel with no sliding at all

    I'm not a new rider but I'm 170 cm so quite short. i've been riding a MT07 since 2014 and tried many different bikes since. I'm always nerding out on numbers and specs just to find out that none of that matters once I'm on the seat and riding. The grom has 9hp and was very fun, the GSX-S 1000 has 160 and was also very fun, you get the idea. So despite this motorcycle being advertised as a beginner motorcycle, cheap suspensions, small engine, tiny brakes, and a sitting position that is very different than what I'm used to, I found myself really enjoying the thing.
    I'm quite tempted to replace My Yamaha with this Honda. Or maybe I should try some other cruise available on the market, I don't know yet.
    Anyway, this Rebel was great, I might try it again soon.

      @TommyBarnezTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, fun can be had on any bike. The most I have laughed on a bike was when I took out the honda monkey 😂 if you like this seating position I'd check out the triumph bobber too, lot more expensive than this but is a wonderfully engaging ride.

    Hi TommyBarnezTV
    Just found your channel. Great video with a good review. Had to sub to you ofc because of that :-)
    I live in Norway and just bought this bike 2 weeks ago even though i still dont have my license yet :-)
    I passed the theory exam and just need the driving lessons now.
    Bought a 500 Rebel abs 2019 matt black model with 1100 km on it with the Oxford heating, original saddle bags and the luggage carrier (sorry for my bad english). Saved about 2800 euro compared to a brand new one with the same extras on it. So i feel its a good deal.
    I also bought a LV-10 Leovince exhaust to boost the sound a bit to be heard a bit more in traffic.
    I wonder if the new exhaust on this one is just for the sound, or do you think it will make a tiny bit increase in the output as well?
    The sound is a 199% better though.
    ps! you look like a great driver. Im 45 and havent driven a A license bike in many years. I think and hope this will be a good bike for me. Im 5'11 (181 cm) but i dont think thats gonna be a big problem for me. Gonna take it easy on the gas the first year and hope some of the old driving tech comes back to me.
    Cheers from Norway!

    • @TommyBarnezTV
      @TommyBarnezTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! Sounds like a great deal on the bike. Most exhausts say they increase performance a smidgen however not sure it will be noticeable. Weight difference will probably be a few kg though.
      Stay safe with riding and good luck getting your license! I want to do a norway trip one day as the roads look absolutely lovely!

      I live in New Jersey. Over here in this State if you take your test on a 400cc or less bike then you are limited to a full license for 400cc or less. I saw someone take his test on a CBRR 900! You can ride anything on a Learners Permit so long as you are riding with a Full License holder At least that was the law a few years ago, I don't think it has changed.... Best, Pete.

In fact there's a video about Rebel 500 aftermarket exhaust's by a shorter Mexican American feller, seems cool , California I'd guess from the Palm tree's. Anyway he states in his vid that he's 5' 4" and you can see him standing on the balls of his feet while riding. Rebel may be okay for you at your height but just a tad small for your weight maybe? It would pull you just fine just dont know how much effect your riding position for long periods of time. Vulcan is plenty big enough though, it's not even close to as light feeling though it's not heavy and still easy to maneuver. But the rebel is probably gonna be one of easiest bikes ever to maneuver imo.

    • @Deathinappalachia
      @Deathinappalachia 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vulcan is a bit bigger, with more power & more of a feet-forward cruiser riding position. The Honda sits me in a more neutral position, kind of like a vintage standard... My feet are just a bit forward, but not way out in front like a lounge chair. Try sitting on both bikes if you get the chance. I preferred the ergos on the Honda, and it's fast enough to zip you up to well above posted limits. The wife & I like to cruise the countryside, and it's a great bike for that. If you want to do longer Interstate trips, the extra mass & power of the Kawasaki Vulcan S may be a good choice. I'm 5'9", and have got to be well over 200 lbs in my helmet & gear. The wife is 5'2", and we both the Rebel 500 comfortable. For people much over 6', the foot position may start feeling cramped.
