    I agree that the Sony 90mm's major problem is AF. It struggles big time almost in any situation.

      I sold it after a week of heaving it since It was unuseable for me.

      For sure it isn't a sports lens. For most other things (still things) I haven't had much of a problem with it, except at macro distances sometimes. Though this Tamron VXD af seems nicer; perhaps it is more of a general purpose lens than the Sony 90G and Sigma 105. Sharpness at infinity and sunstars at f/11 would be nice.

    Great video however at 700 Euros it is cheaper than all different brands, but is it really cheaper,? For €200 more you can have the nikon and that comes with manual control switch, image stability, and almost no flare, or ghosting? I'd argue that's a better more complete lens, now add these features to the tamron lens and you have a lens that cost as much as the rest, but if you don't need all the features then this tamron sounds great but I think €600 would be more fitting

    Thanks David!
    Nice Lense, but I have already the Sony one.
    Sadly, it seems that they ave forgott the AF/MF-Button😅
    But as you already mentionned, you can program the MF/AF-switch on the button with the Lens utility software👍🏼

      The Sony 90mm had AF struggles, which is why I replaced it with the Sigma 105. I must admit - this new Tamron lens is attractive!

      @@joshcruzphotos It is old and it does has an old man's eyes, but I can use the manual focus to bring it back to focus on what I want. That AF/MF clutch is genius. Reason to not get rid of it is due to its excellent image quality on high-res sensors. Just breathtaking. Though I suspect, due to previous reviews, Tamron also is fantastic when it comes to image quality. Can't go wrong either way. I would just set the little round button to AM/FM switch and be done with it.

    Cool, nice overview. It would have been interesting to see the shape of the bokeh highlights beyond f/5,6, at f/8 and f/11 since, as you say, macro work usually involves stopping down and because Tamron's definition of "circular aperture" mentions it being round up until and including f/5,6. So do we get nice sunstars at f/8 or what? : )

    • @davision-en
      @davision-en  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Beyond 5.6 is gets even rounder but there is not much to show then round balls, no Cats eye anymore and clean round balls. It doesn't get worse beyond that in any magical way. :) I also talked about sunstars.

    Hi, I have a question, what's the difference between taking a picture of a quarter with a 1:1 macro lens, or a zoom lens, zoomed to make the quarter fit the screen to the same size as the 1:1 ratio macro lens? If the answer is nothing, because I would get the same result, then why would I need to purchase a macro lens? Thank you for your help. I'm trying to figure out if I can do macro photography with the lenses I already have, (16-35 24-70 & 70-200) I do not have a macro lens yet, but I'm thinking about buying the SONY FE 90mm F2.8 G OSS full-frame lens. Thank you.

    • @davision-en
      @davision-en  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The answer is your zoom lens can’t do it. It doesn’t get close enough to fit the quarter at the same size in your frame.

      @@davision-en And the macro lens is simply sharp where the zoom will come close. I've shot pictures of my grandson's face with a Sony A7R3 and 90mm f2.8 Sony macro lens. At max enlargement on my computer, the image is sharper than a tack.

      @Elusive_Chicken หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Macro lenses can focus closer than regular lenses. Focal length isn't a factor here. If you could get as close with your Zoom lens then...well it would be a macro lens.
      In fact the Sony 70-200 f4 G ii is a Zoom lens, that is also a macro lens.

    But what about stabilization...It's fine for photos, but for video, it's terrible. Sony cameras have awful stabilization. It's impossible to shoot handheld video with the A7S III using a 90mm lens without internal stabilization. The lens becomes absolutely useless for video in this case...

    • @davision-en
      @davision-en  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn’t say so. I shot video with a a7 IV and 35-150 at 150mm and it went fine. IBIS works well for Video. But As I said especially in macro you will miss OS from time to time. But not in general use.

      to be honest who using 90mm to make video 😂😂😂 I mean it ur camera ur choice but mostly people using wide lens for video, and this lens mostly for macro and maybe portrait only

      @@anhtrungquan8451 you think Macro is just a Photo Thing? I mostly use Macro lenses for Detail shots of products and others do as well, look at some BTS Stuff from for Example MKBHD and you will see Macro Lenses used for Video as well.

    Hmm. It seems like you didn't even have time to properly test it. I'd be inclined to see this review redone after a while so that you can share some more experiences with it.

      Why does it seem to you like this? Have I missed out something? I think I have given a very good overview of what this lens can do and whats missing. Where is your Problem?
