    I think the ultimate Tamagotchi would be a Tamagotchi with Uni as the gameplay mechanics and a Meet/On breeding system.

      I don't know how the updates work so far but I feel like they could totally make an update that includes gene mixing, and C button animations, and a way to turn the Tama off, and more games!! It would be perfect
      but I feel like they won't do that and keep those features for a future model lol, money!

    Most of my experience has only been with vintage era Tamagotchi until recently, I picked up an ON and wasn't immediately won over by it because everything was so slow, and because I feel like a lot of more modern Tamagotchi designs are a bit samey compared to vintage era. I took a chance on the Uni and I am really loving it so far.
    I think if I had a major complaint, it's that the Tamagotchi evolves too fast. I kind of like to spend a little more time with each form, y'know? By day three it was already in it's final form.
    And I guess I wish the screws weren't covered by plastic, it kind of prevents me from customizing or doing maintenance.

      i'm so glad to see someone else say it bc i was starting to think i was crazy. yes! they evolve REALLY fast. i remember on the ON spending at least a couple days with the child and teen stages, meanwhile i feel like the Uni is an adult within two days of hatching 😵‍💫

      Taking out the screw covers isn’t all too hard luckily! I haven’t received my Uni yet but the smart had the same screw covers and taking them out was hard-ish but beyond doable, and from the videos I’ve seen it seems like the Uni’s are a beat easier to get out :) so disappointed to hear the evolution only takes 3 days though??

    The Uni is about $60 in the USA which is the same as a brand new Nintendo Switch game. I actually thought that was fair given all the features with it.
    I picked one up to share with my 9 year old and I have zero regrets. We’re both really enjoying it.

    • @MarcosFull
      @MarcosFull ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Companies tend to sell their products at lower prices in the US because it is usually their largest market. Or in the event that they evaluate an increase (as with video games) the last place where they will do so is in the USA. For example, video games that currently went up to 65 or 70 dollars in Europe, companies continue to sell them at 60 in the USA.
      And better not to mention countries where the products are not officially sold, such as tamagotchis, where we pay double or even more than that, what people pay in a store in the USA.

    • @CorVids1031

      @andreafreeman6488 fans actually revived the app and gave it more features! I've seen how high in price the On has gotten though, and as a casualish fan I wouldn't pay $300 for an On. Maybe half that, but I know that's not the going rate these days. If I didn't have an On already I'd just hope they add gene mixing to a future tama and wait.

  • @rainw8448
    @rainw8448 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I agree with pretty much all of your points! I am enjoying mine a lot, but I do kind of wish they required... more care? I know that sounds weird and I COMPLETELY understand people enjoying the fact that they aren't very needy, especially if you have a busy job like you said, but for me it feels like it's impossible to not get a perfect care character without me intentionally neglecting it :( I don't even know what constitutes as a care mistake in this version because there's no discipline meter or anything either (this is my first color model and I'm used to vintage-connection era).
    I'm also glad I wasn't the only one that noticed the Tamaverse wasn't actually "live" for all the features. XD Yeah they are definitely ghost characters! That's okay though, I'd imagine it might be partially an efficiency thing.
    edit: Also you pointing out that the colors look like 90's jackets makes me actually appreciate these shell designs more LOL

    Pulled the trigger and bought one of these a few days ago. It's my first ever colored Tamagotchi and the first issue I was worried about was also the battery replaceability. Saw the software update they pushed recently and that's looking positive in the longevity of the device. And yes, it's mighty expensive for a small toy/device and to where I'm from, I don't think I'll be seeing a lot who'll be carrying this around. Nevertheless, it's way more appealing mainly because it's released internationally and a lot of us who are on the fence on buying the Smart, now has another option to consider.

  • @MarcosFull

    I didn't know you were Australian! I am Argentinian and I don't notice too much the difference in the accents in English.
    I agree with the points you mention. It's about time they realized that there is not only the northern hemisphere in the world! And just like Nintendo did with AC (great job), Bandai would find it even easier. We need a function to pause, turn off or at least allow the clock to be set (as in the P1).
    On the other hand, the clock function should be the first thing that is displayed on the screen if what they want is to wear it on the wrist.

    I'm on the fence about whether I should buy this one or not. I've only ever had nanos, so I've never had a colored and regular sized tamagotchi like this. Both this and the On versions would be expensive to me, but the On would be more, since it's not available to buy in my country and I'd have to import it. It would also take longer to get to me. The Uni is available in a store in my country, so, even though it's expensive for me, it would be even cheaper than the On and get to me faster. But... I REALLY wanted the gene mixing feature :/ ugh. I might just kick the bucket and get this one since it's more recent and available for me now...

    I'm predicting that the Travel Gate feature will be where you can meet up with randoms or you friends in real time. Love this review! I bought my Uni as a preorder form America because for some reason, Tama Oceania doesn't ship these! Which makes me question what there is even an Oceania option. There is a online retailer that is selling these here... from next March... for $149 in our currency. So it's a shame that the Online function isn't real time, because I have no-one here who has one, and buying another one would take ages to ship and is already $100. I hope that the Travel Gate and even a future update will change the Online for the better.
