This is such a beautiful and well made video (and Tamagotchis!) I will be using this video for a visual guide for when I decorate mine this weekend !!!
I wish Bandai understood how unfavourable these bright pink and purple childlike colours are when a huge fan base are adults. I don’t have time to customise and refuse to buy such an ugly coloured shell so I’m waiting for new designs. Had your colours been an option I would have purchased by now. Really nice designs!
Even kids hate the colors they chose. The designs got worse from the oldest to newest, If theres another tamagotchi in the future i hope it doesnt look like these.
Thank you for this video!! I saw a painted Uni recently and I wanted to try it myself but I wasn't sure if I should sand the plastic or not. I figured you must have to and this video confirmed my suspicion. These are beautiful!
@@mimorijamaa3291 It went great! I painted the shell red, made a checkerboard purple, red and orange faceplate with gold lining, and painted the middle button gold. I love it so much!
Is it 100% needed to sand them? I want to get a Uni soon and I DEFINITELY want to customize it, but the sanding is the only thing that scares me. These look gorgeous though!!
I haven't tried doing it without sanding, but generally it's better to sand so the spray paint will stick to the plastic. It probably won't stick properly without sanding. I wouldn't be worried about it though. You can also test it out on other pieces of plastic beforehand.
If you're going to spray paint then yeah, you want to sand them, it doesn't have to be crazy, but you have to give the material some grit, otherwise the paint won't stick well and will scratch off a lot more easily. (Think how for a watercolor piece, a piece of paper needs to have like 300 weight and when you feel it it's rough and has all those tiny grooves on it)
Hi, I'm impressed with the result, really inspired me to do a make over. Btw, what kind of screwdriver that you use? I use my small scrwedriver and it doesn't fit.
I used a screwdriver that came with a glasses repair kit. You might be able to research and look for the specific type of screwdrivers that are used for fixing glasses.
I didn't print them, I just drew them out with colored pencils on regular printer paper. You could definitely print it on regular paper, there's templates online for the faceplates.
is the sealer really needed? I' a little worried about the outer layer turning yellowish because some sealers cause that. but I really love how you designed them though. I'm looking forward to getting mine and trying to at least change the paper part
Hi! Does anyone know where to buy a new faceplate (the plastic thing with the screen, not the design)? Because mine scratched so bad and I can barely see
is the hot glue necessary for taking off the caps? is there another way to do it? 🤔 anyway i love the result!!! im getting my first tamagotchi uni tomorrow 🥹🥹🥹
I would test it out on a different piece of transparent plastic before doing it on the actual tamagotchi. It can be a bit difficult for paint to stick on that type of plastic, but I haven't tried it.
I'm not the maker of this video (obviously) but I can explain how Tamagotchi buttons work: it's not about the pink button per se, but the sensor that picks up what the button does when you press it. So you could put the C button in the A button hole, doesn't matter because what matters is the sensor. Hope it helps!
@@velourve awesome thank you! I just got a screwdriver kit because I like modding and customizing tech but I'm really amateur. I hope I find the right one, and if I do I'll drop the name here in case you or anyone else needs it in the future
i think that tamagotchi should make something very similar to the newer tamas but with the original non-backlit black and white design. i dont like that the new ones have lcd screens so thats why i like connections the best lol

@@sbcgaming18not really better

Omg you really drew faceplates by yourself? Looks AMAZINGLY good. I thought it was printed at first. ❤ Crazy nice designs.

I hate the default options! I ended up getting a cute case, but this is giving me better ideas.
I'm going to use this for when I redesign mine
Amazing video now im not that afraid to deeply customize my uni!
Hello! These look amazing. How have you found the buttons and shell wear over the last year? Have they held up?
Can it work with any Tamagotchi?
Thank you so much for the tutorial 😊😊💖💖 using it as a guide in the near future!! 🥰
Looks good!! 🎉
So pretty!💕😍
great video! i was just wondering though if you used any kind of sealant on the buttons and speaker?
Yes, I used the same acrylic sealer that i used for the outer shell

@@sbcgaming18 do u have to sand it if your gonna use normal paint and paint markers?

Do you need to sand down the cover before painting?

Wow so beautiful 😍
so cool!! btw did you print that faceplate with normal paper? I has hoping to try this myself! thanks :) btw you made a rly beautiful edit❤

It's not necessary but it's the best way to do it without breaking/damaging the caps/plastic
hi would i be able to sand/paint the back shell also? i never see anyone do it
I would test it out on a different piece of transparent plastic before doing it on the actual tamagotchi. It can be a bit difficult for paint to stick on that type of plastic, but I haven't tried it.
Would be cool if someone did the case with mood/colour changing paint!
hi how long did you wait to reassemble after applying the sealant?
@@yabaiyabai2486 I followed the instructions on the can. The wait period varies depending on which brand you use
A screw broke and I can't get it out.
any tips?
i already tried the rubber band trick, it won’t work.

pov you feel asleep first at the sleepover
Does the hot glue melt the plastic from the Tamagotchi or leave residue?
The hot glue didn't melt the plastic on my Tamagotchi. I did have a bit of residue on one piece, but it was really easy to just rub it off.
How do you know the buttons are in the right spot?

Can someone please give me an stl file for a shell, I have been searching forever.
Hey what screwdriver is needed for this?
